Why don't new build houses come with Air Conditioning?

Couple of reasons why they don't typically do them: * Costs - not just the unit, but you require extra building reg approval * Potential negative affects on the EPC Rating - you are calculating how much energy you will use in the property, and heating doesn't come on in summer, but AC will therefore increased consumption. * Extra paperwork TM44 plus 5 yearly tests * Extra thing to go wrong * Selling off plan is difficult, you have to essentially get another EPC assessment after the AC is installed as its a change to the indoor climate. * Theres a big push on developers now to hit super efficient energy homes by 2025 and we aren't ready... so more than enough on our plate.
