Are there courier-like services for an Ebay listed as "collection in person"?

Have any of you had any experience with trying (as a buyer) to arrange someone else to pick up an item listed as "collection in person"? As a seller... is this is huge pain in the arse for you? Would you shy away from such a potential buyer?

I know it is an old thread but I despise collection only items. People have no choice to use couriers or have it delivered, not everyone has a car. I ordered a TV on eBay, the seller has the delivery option so I chose that. Unfortunately, the seller sent me a message saying it is collection only with the offer of refund. Why fucking have the delivery option in the first place? It sucks that sellers refuse couriers. Like I said, not everyone drives.

I have a couple of times when buying car wheels. I just use a man with a van and get them to contact the seller to arrange a pick up time and date. Both times I just searched "man with van" on eBay and used the cheapest one that came up. There's plenty of men with ven to choose from. Although, this is pretty expensive. Collecting and delivering 5 car wheels in a van is very different to collecting and delivering a watch. I ended up paying £150 both times. One set of wheels came from Bangor, the other from Stockport delivering to Cambridgeshire.

As a seller I would refuse this. I can arrange an exact time for a buyer to collect in person, including at evenings and weekends, but I’m not waiting in all day for a courier.

Solid point. I'd forgotten that couriers would use a pick-up window, rather than a specific time. Now I feel like an arse for even asking.

Courier scams are really common, so I would never sell to someone who can't collect it themselves. If you were genuinely trying to get a courier to pick it up I wouldn't know, because the second you mentioned a courier I would have blocked you. I've done it twice, first time it was fine, courier had a label seller had the product ready, bing band bosh. ll worked. Second time the guy was really weird, courier turned up, denied the pickup because he thought "courier would bring a box" (nobody said that this would happen) Re-arranged a collection and he did pretty much the same thing, but this time had the item in a bag???? so the courier just slapped a label on and took it. Of course half of what was bought wasn't ins aid bag..

You could negotiate with Shiply, and find someone who will agree a set time. Ask the seller first before bidding. Most sensible sellers will say 'cash on collection only', which can also be tricky.

I've bought furniture this way on eBay many times, it's very common and works fine. Check with the eBay seller first that they don't mind dealing with a courier (they usually don't mind in my experience) and book one from a website such as AnyVan or, as someone mentioned, Shiply.
