What can cause high pitch "squeaking" sound when braking at low speeds?

Hello,
I have a continuous high pitch squeaking sound from the front right wheel when I brake at very low speed to a full stop.
Yesterday I went to replace oil and also asked the mechanic about it and asked if it means I need to change brake pad or disc and he said that it's not always the case and then inspected and said that the brakes seem to be ok.
But he only inspected quickly because I was in a hurry.
Is there a chance that it is the front right brake pad/disc and I should go back to the mechanic for deeper inspection when I have time?
Thanks

Hey! What did it end up being? Iโm having pretty much the same problem but I replaced my brake pads like 2 months agoโฆ

Did you finally change the brake pads? If yes, did it solve the squeasking sound?

brake pads have little pieces of metal embedded in them to create a high pitched squeal to tell you itโs time to change them.
it could also be brake dust buildup or a loose caliper. but iโd start with the first thing

Those make noise all the time, though, not just when you brake. Assuming you have normal OEM pads (race pads are squealy by nature), a squeak while stopping that goes away immediately is often just dust getting between the pad and the rotor.

Spray with what kind sir?

ty, I will go back to the mechanic to do a better inspection. I assume he needs to take the wheels off to actually see that right? it's not visible just by lifting the car up

if you are under the car, you might be able to see it through the back of the wheel. but taking it off is the only way to get a good look

you are correct

It usually is visible, some cars more so than others. Often times usually just need to sneak a mirror in there.
Some cars you won't be able to get a good look at the brakes with wheels on though.

Could be worn pads (easy to see for yourself), could also just be a small stone or bit of grit caught in the pad.

Wear indicators squeak while you are driving and not braking. The sound goes away as you brake. You should be able to quickly see the brake pad condition without taking a tire off with an inspection mirror. You probably just have crud between the pad and rotor.

brake pad wear indicator. you have uneven wear on a pad or rotor most likely, the only way to check is to pop the wheel off and inspect.

Probably just brake pads needing to be replaced.

thanks, I will go back to him then

Could be old brake pads that are getting noisy, some possibility it's a wheel bearing. Sometimes putting a rubbery goop called "disc brake quiet" between the pads and the calipers works to stop these kinds of noises.
