Hey I bought 2017 silverado z71 6.0 6l80 trans, in nov 2023 from Rick Hendricks chevrolet in va beach. I notice certain issues with truck ie. Shudder, steering box/steering wheel had play 3/4-1inch right and left. I had the truck maybe a week or less since purchased. Brung her in to dealership rick Hendricks and told them Hey "I bought 35k truck and play in steering wheel and shudder. They said ok they took truck for about a week or so got back truck same issues. I told them you didn't now do anything to truck? They said they did but p0 0, shudder and lose steering. I started asking more and more questions one salesman / maintenance guy Austin told me shudder is "common" for all chevs "brand New trucks" and said that "my truck thinks it's pulling a trailer" wtf? As steering wheel play he said " all new chev trucks have play" wtf? I have all this on voice record.

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 5.3lt 6l80, with 72766 miles. My transmission just went out as well. I have a 5 year 100000 mile warranty. I bought it with 9 miles, So i bought it brand new. My warranty ran out in 2021. I thought I was getting a 10 year 100000 mile warranty, but that was not the case. They moved my five year sixty thousand mile warranty to a 5 year one hundred thousand mile warranty and they won't do anything for me!

2014 Chevy Silverado LTZ 5.3L 2WD original owner. Original transmission was replaced with a factory rebuilt 6L80 around 150K by a local shop. Currently at 283K and this morning on my 78mile commute to work I started to experience some RPM dancing and Chevy Shudder...I love my Truck (even if the AFM issues make me want to pull out my hair), but somethings gotta give.

2016 GMC Yukon XL. Changed the transmission fluid and six months later the transmission failed completely. $7,500 later we have a rebuilt transmission with a three year warranty. I know atleast a dozen more people with the same issue. Heard something through rumors about the transmission fluid not being the correct viscosity or something…

Fleet manager here. I operate a fleet of approximately 700 trucks. Since 2016 we have had 53 Chevy transmission failures, for a total repair cost of $282,726.52 (average of $4874.60 per unit). I would love to see a class action for these...
JournalistEvery1669@reddit
Mine just gave out, 2013 suburban 2 wheel dr, 5.3 engine, LT. Used it super hard and pulled crazy loads. Had like 335,000 miles. It didn’t go out so much because of the transmission itself, the output shaft bushing got a little play, which messed up the output shaft seal. It ran low on oil and screwed it up. Mostly my fault probably.
Additional-Survey668@reddit
Mine is currently in the shop being replaced! I have 6 friends who just had theirs replaced as well! I would love to see a class action happen!!!

My 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2.7 has a catastrophic transmission failure. I purchased it used with a full warranty in May 2023. End of July it was in the dealership inoperable. THEY HAVE HAD MY TRUCK FOR FOUR MONTHS. They tell me that they cannot get the last part needed, which is the torque converter. It has just about 28,000 miles on it. There is no estimated time of arrival for my part.
The dealership gave me a lowball offer to trade it in for new vehicle. I put $9000 down, and they barely even paid it off. GM isn’t offering anything of value. They actually offered me a $4000 owners loyalty certificate if I purchased a new vehicle, and then rescinded it. I refuse to spend $300 more a month for what is essentially the same truck I have, with no miles on it. I would only be gaining the 28,000 miles my current truck has rolled. They keep adding ‘points’ to my GM account, which adds up to nothing for me since I don’t have a vehicle to spend them on. I am also told that there is no limit to how long they can keep my vehicle and that others have waited a year.
I live in Genesee county Michigan. They build these trucks 13 miles away from me. They are still building them EVERY DAY. I am certain all of them have torque converters.
Has anyone had a similar situation and gotten relief? Any advice?

Mine was just rebuilt at 112k, $3600. 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 6L80.They are doing at least one a day at the transmission shop in town. Basically all related to the torque converter. Now my 2019 Camaro V6 is shuttering and doing the Camaro surge, goes in the shop to get it checked out Monday. Believed to be same issue (torque converter) just clicked 40k

Yes we need one!?
The 6L80 seems to be more common then the 8 speeds failure.
93k on my 2015 Silverado and just had it rebuilt! Had all the symptoms. Shuttering, slow acceleration, hard shifts.
