My FTSP experience

I recently went through the FTSP process and wanted to share my experience in case it helps someone in the future!
For background: I'm a lawful permanent resident (aka Green Card holder). My physical green card shows as expired, but I filed for renewal before it expired and USCIS sent me an I-797 notice extending the validity of my green card for 48 months (until 2029).
I wasn’t sure if I would still qualify for Expedited Processing since the card itself appeared expired. It turns out you still qualify, you just need to upload the I-797 extension notice along with the green card.
When I first submitted my FTSP application (May 11, 2026), I entered the expiration date printed on my physical green card (2025). TSA later asked me to update it and use the extended expiration date from the I-797 notice instead (2029).
After I updated the expiration date, they sent fingerprint instructions the same day. I completed fingerprints the next day at a local IdentoGO office and received final approval one day later.
Time line:
May 11, 2026 - Application submitted.
May 12, 2026 - “Changes required” notice (green card expiration date). Updated application in the morning, fingerprint instructions received later that afternoon.
May 13, 2026 - Fingerprints completed at local IdentoGO office.
May 14, 2026 - Final approval granted.
Hope this helps!
