Diffrence between B650 and B850

I am building a PC. I am trying to figure out the difference between the B650 and the B850 my CPU is a Ryzen 7 7800x3D.
I am building this PC to play Triple AAA titles at 1440p if that means anything. Which one should I go with?

as others mentioned, most B850 boards support PCIE 5.0 for GPU/SSD, other than that no real difference. I'd get a B850 just because it's newer and has potentially longer support with updates and stuff.

Okay thank you.

The biggest difference is that most (but not all) B850 motherboards have a PCIe 5.0 GPU slot. It's a fairly small performance difference, but it might mean more later.

If you were me building this PC which one would you choose? I’m mostly building for gaming.

I would just get whichever is cheaper.

Probably B850 because they're usually similar prices and you might as well get the faster GPU slot. But, it depends on the exact products you're comparing.

There really isn't much difference it won't have any performance impact on your CPU
You could use a 9950x3d2 with a b650 and an x870e and there would be no difference.
The core difference is gen5 support for the top SSD slot and usually better support for higher ram clocks.

If i don’t want to upgrade anything for a while after I build I should go with the B850?

Same chip Promontory 21
but AMD will enforce gen5 pcie m.2 for fast storage; used to be optional.

Okay so B850. Got it Thank you.
