Why do recruiters try and sell you rubbish jobs?

Had recruiters recently telling me to take jobs at 35k with 3 to manage. When i question, they are saying it is a terrific salary and think of your CV.
It sounds like complete nonsense made up to try and get recruiters fees.

35k isnt that bad, for a lot of us
Superstorm22@reddit
It's not bad, I agree. But as someone below said - it's bad for managing 3 people with all the stress that entails.
On_The_Blindside@reddit
I really hate this race to the bottom mentality. The UK median salary is just shy of £40k. £35k for managment responsibility is objectively shit.

Hardly gonna say bad job, pays worse, boss is a prick, you interested?

Money.

Good recruiters don't do this
papercut2008uk@reddit
Because the 'good jobs' and good pay are small, they get taken quick and your left with an abundance of jobs no one wants to take on.
It's like a post I saw on here a few weeks ago about VHS tapes making a comeback because charity shops are packed with them, but they don't realise they are packed with them because no one want's them.

Recruiters can only sell what they got
Employment agencies are competing against each other to fill the roles
PsychologicalDish430@reddit
It's their job
VolcanicBear@reddit
Yes. They work on commission. Same as all sales.
For the recruiters most of us are dealing with, it's purely a numbers game. Some sucker will be desperate enough.
Lower_Helicopter_742@reddit
Yep. It's not pennies either.
My company brought in some managers with some fancy pants recruitment headhunters.
If the candidate stayed with us 6 months, the agency got 40% of their yearly salary as a fee.
Our directors were easily on 100k so that's a 40k fee just for setting up some interviews.
CAElite@reddit
They're sales people ultimately, they're selling jobs to candidates and candidates to employers. The good ones have contracts where they don't get paid unless you stay 6+ months. The bad ones don't.
Difficult_Relative33@reddit
35k is a decent wage.
Heathenry2@reddit
If you're in your 20's, maybe.
split-tennisball@reddit
Because that's how they make money.
GuestOk9310@reddit
If you're a jobseeker, then jobseekers can't be choosers I guess.
LzzrdWzzrd@reddit
People look for new jobs whilst having one you know
GuestOk9310@reddit
That's true
Fair_Condition_1460@reddit
Correct

You’ve answered your own question.
PootMcGroot@reddit
You answered your own question in the last sentence.
They're not there to help you with your career, they want you to stick in a job for 6 weeks/6 months/18 months (depending on their contract) so they can collect a fee, which makes up the bulk of their income.
Thin_Pin2863@reddit
Recruiters are a cottage industry, for 99.99% of roles they're entirely unnecessary. So they behave this way to attempt to validate their existence.
DiscoDoberman@reddit
Because they make money by filling roles.
PreviousTree763@reddit
Well yes obviously
