No matter how much you make or you feel like you’re making enough they’ll always be another trucker to bring you down and say you’re not making enough if it pays your bills and you have extra money left over and not struggling that’s all that matters f them other truckers who try to bring someone down if it works for you , if you like doing overtime that’s fine as long as you’re happy

I’ve come to realize there’s a lot of miserable dirtbags on this sub..spreading their misery

I know a few people bashed me a while back for working 65-70 hours a week. I get paid hourly with OT and last year that OT netted me just over 50k extra just in OT wages that went solely towards my retirement. I could easily live off of 40 hour wages, but I don’t want to be barely scraping by when I go to retire. I don’t mind working OT as I run regional and it’s just a M-F job, so if I’m gonna be out all week I’m gonna make the most I can.

Everyone cuts their own deal. All that matters is if you’re happy.

I think drivers are always going to complain about pay or put other drivers down for not making it enough at their current job and say that you need to find a new one. My first company was Swift. I think it was .36 cents a mile to start out OTR. That was 8 years ago. I switched to a dedicated account a month after starting and the pay a little more. .40 cents a mile and $10 a stop plus back haul pay. I did alright there. After a year I moved to a different company. Our pay has charged over the years. I get .63 cents a mile and $20 load pay for loads under 60 miles. Do I wish it was a little more? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, I make enough to pay my bills and save a little too.

I get people in this sub don't like when this becomes a trend. It will happen a lot towards the end of the year but honestly other truckers need to see what they are worth. It's that or can see if they just got their CDLs that their is opportunities out there to earn more.
Sure companies like Swift, Schneider, Knight, other megas are a beginner company but they are stepping stones because not everyone has that friend in a good company that can bring them on right away.
It's not just food service drivers that are making it you see the fuel haulers, car haulers, hazard drivers, etc.
But again I see why people don't like the trend as it can come off as bragging.

The thing is you can think you’re making enough then “ I work less hours” “ “ I make more than that” if someone like doing overtime it shouldn’t be a problem

Yep everyone makes different salaries as long as you’re happy and it pays the bills and you are able to save and not struggle that’s all that matters
