45 hours. Local car hauling. Texas. Company wants 55 but I'm in school and they're okay with it as long as I meet my revenue.
Top-Confidence4496@reddit
I'm happy that we're talking about this though. Drivers need to know their worth
ivyentre@reddit
Why?.It's not going to change anything because there will always be someone willing to work cheaper.
Top-Confidence4496@reddit
It's because there's a driver somewhere out there who doesn't have any clue he's being underpaid. It could motivate him to apply somewhere else.
GreenNeedleworker913@reddit
Literally me right now, I’m on a Walmart dedicated account with Swift & it’s better money than otr with swift but still not nearly enough as much as I run.
Ayyeee_justin@reddit
How much more experience you need till you can get on with Walmart?
Top-Confidence4496@reddit
That Walmart account ain't too bad. I was on it for like 2 months.
GreenNeedleworker913@reddit
It’s really not, but with how much I run I feel like there’s more money to be made
tedlyb@reddit
Then let them be the sucker.
Appropriate-Pie3418@reddit
I do flatbed in Houston and they work us hard. Only pulling in 1100 a week
Obvious-Tear-9351@reddit
Get your Hazmat, and enjoy your life. You can find a local Cryogenic/Fuel hauler job, and make 1100 in 3 days...or less.
Appropriate-Pie3418@reddit
With 2 years experience? I can just go take a hazmat test because I know those jerks are scamming us. With the amount of work we do we’re getting underpaid. I refuse to be a sucker and stay at a job getting underpaid.
Obvious-Tear-9351@reddit
Yes! Most Hazmat jobs want someone with atleast 2 years experience. That test is not hard at all for the tanker, or Hazmat. I had a buddy that done flatbed for years and complained about it incessantly. Never cleared over 75k, and he ran hard! 1st year hauling fuel, he cleared 85, and was home every night. You can do it too!
slam_king96@reddit
Yall complain about pay a lot on this subreddit. If you make that in two weeks I can’t wait to get started. Two weeks of work at a greasy kitchen only gives me $800 . Have to work to jobs to break 1k. I get it hauling cargo in a big ass trailer is way different than flipping burgers but damn some of yall need to be grateful.
Zealousideal_Wave760@reddit
Learn a grappler truck for disaster relief. Pays about 1 to 1.50 per cubic yard. And a good company will have you hauling 400-700 cubic yards a day. No days off though unless it rains
Superb-Diamond5407@reddit
I’ve had to drive from Minnesota to Oregon and back in order to profit 2k. I was in a boxtruck though.
AmbushNinja@reddit
Paylocity lol
The_Vass_76@reddit
Just an app for payroll purposes my man. The name is a bit funny though.
chayosman@reddit
Which hauler ? Im in Texas myself and im working OTR hauler
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Hansen & Adkins
The_Vass_76@reddit
I’ve applied for USAL myself recently. Supposedly doing a phone interview this coming Tuesday. They have a yard located in Fort Worth where I live for a regional driver position that’s home every weekend. Not sure if I should take it or not (depending on how the interview goes and how they respond to my questions). I’ve been OTR for almost 4 years now.
commandough@reddit
Car hauling is easy work? That's a 1st.
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
I run to my trucks, climb a ladder twice a load, strap trucks down, take off.
A lot easier than carrying 100lbs of chicken up three flights of stairs.
-Golf-Addict-@reddit
100%. I used to deliver beer. I sometimes still scare myself awake by stacking beer in my dreams. Now I have a cake drop and hook job! The guys that make a lot of money but in food service and beverage are nuts. They are one wrong lift away from disability.
Longway23544@reddit
No matter how much you make or you feel like you’re making enough they’ll always be another trucker to bring you down and say you’re not if it pays your bills and you have extra money left over and not struggling that’s all that matters f them other truckers who try to bring someone down
RandomMansThoughts@reddit
1000% correct. There's always a bigger fish out there ready to flex like they're special.
RandomMansThoughts@reddit
Comparison is the theif of joy. Some people aren't all about making big dollars. Some people rather work for a company that gives out good benefits, a generous vacation time, 401k, sick pay, paid holidays, etc. I make $200 less than you and work 51-53 hours a week. My health insurance is amazing and keeps my wife's crohns disease medication at $20 vs $20,000. As long as you're happy with your job, that's what matters the most.
everythangspeachie@reddit
It’s really hard to find something that pays like this though. I net $2k but I work 65 hours a week hauling cryo in Cali.
Longway23544@reddit
That’s good salary if it works for you
TwoToadsKick@reddit
Making 2k a week and I lift with my legs
akaDozer@reddit
Food service guys are annoying. They take pride in break backing work while I make the same if not more doing LTL. Lol
RegularInformation44@reddit
Right! There's guys at my shop talking about "Oh I grossed 2600 last week" Yeah you also moved 5000 cases and worked 75 hours. I do not want to gross more than 70k in foodservice, getting my 1 year experience in then getting into local HAZMAT.
OPLK085@reddit
I was in it for a a little while worked 35-45~ hrs a week some days were sweet having one stop and was done before lunch and did Saturdays which was 3hrs of work max. I made roughly that amount but definitely want to get into ltl work.
Timmy98789@reddit
Check your local utility if you want to make more and use your back less.
Clear-Sport4461@reddit
I used to work Pfg solo routes about 45-55 hours a week net were around 5200 bi-weekly. Good money
Clear-Sport4461@reddit
Management sticks ball’s after company hands got moved around so I left. Good stretching and lift techniques you’ll be fine. Almost three years no injuries or anything
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Unless they make over $3k+ a week, they're getting underpaid imo.
akaDozer@reddit
Agreed. Most of those guys do not enjoy life after retirement because of how broken down their bodies are.
Hypersky75@reddit
What app is that?
Fungiluvr94@reddit
Paylocity
EnvironmentalLab7342@reddit
40hrs doing general freight. Local distribution, night trunking or warehouse shifts, whatever the lottery machine of a shift planner happens to get me. And with some good luck I get 4x10hr shifts and not 5x8hrs. No matter the shift about 2.5k€ minimum in gross pay plus additional pays for evening or night work, hazmat extra, meal bonuses, and other bonuses. God I love collective bargaining agreements made by unions
potatocross@reddit
Ill keep saying it, Im a local driver making pretty much the same as you working 40-45hrs a week.
No one should be living in a truck working 70 hours a week making less than this.
Redsoxdragon@reddit
Sir, i jork my peanits at work for my $2k 🤨
Emergency_Ad1152@reddit (OP)
Bush did 9/11 for sure.
