How much is a typical family of 5 beach holiday (eg Portugal)?

We're looking at going on our first family holiday after a very long time this year with three kids (aged between three and nine) and two adults, but I have no clue what a good deal looks like.
We'll be looking for flights, probably going to Portugal or Spain, and looking for half board. What's a reasonable amount of money we can expect for, say, five nights for such a trip?
We've seen ones for about £4,500, but I have zero context about whether that is a good deal or not for flights, hotel, and half board. Any insights into this would be greatly appreciated so we can fully understand our budget and what to expect from costing.

Bloody hell I didn’t realise how much these things cost, I’ll stick with paying for myself to go round the world at half the price
NoCold3997@reddit
Some of these prices are crazy ..im about to do 3 weeks in northern italy ..2 apartments.2 hotels ( all being central and one a spa hotel) £2.5k with flights.
Extension-Topic2486@reddit
This is why time of year would help in the post. My guess would be they’re looking at August and you aren’t?
NoCold3997@reddit
1st week of june to the end ...and again 2 weeks in sept.

We are a family of 5 going AI to Turkey in July for £4k We only looked at AI, as it’s our first family holiday so didn’t know how much the kids would want drinks etc
moipwd@reddit
prices are rising quite a lot with the current climate, you better check the package websites like jet2, TUI, etc
NumerousToe7604@reddit (OP)
Yes, those are exactly the ones I'm looking at now, but again, I just need some context.
Streathamite@reddit
Not sure what context you need? If you compare prices across those sites then that’s how much package family holidays cost. Asking people what they’ve paid in the past isn’t really relevant as the Iran war has pushed prices up significantly in the past couple of months

We went to an all inclusive at a beach resort in Greece last year for 2 adults and 2 kids for 2.5K. Granted that was in term time, but if memory serves it was going to be 3.5k in the school holiday.
Streathamite@reddit
What time of year are you planning to go?
Are you planning to go during the schools holiday or take the kids out of school during term time?
Both these things will make a huge difference to the overall cost
NumerousToe7604@reddit (OP)
Yes, it must be within the school holidays (matching school terms), because we have kids and I am also a teacher.
BigJDizzleMaNizzles@reddit
You're stuck paying kid tax I'm afraid then. Gonna be a grand per week per person.
If you throw a sicky week before may half term I.e. Last week. It would be half that.
imnotabotimafreeman@reddit
booked one for a family of 4 to spain for £28000 at end of august in February. Its gone up a grand since
