Does anyone think their content gets a just a bit shittier every year?

I loved the aliens, space phenomena, ants, inmune system videos, but some of their political takes are at least very opinionated.

But then recently we've got absolutely amazing tree video, so maybe not

Haven't they been bought out? Honestly, even if they didn't, the fact remains that they're a company. They have employees to pay now, and an incentive to continue growing. So that means quicker turnarounds, corners cut, and workarounds found. It's only natural for quality to decline.

What political takes are you referring to? Their channel operates through a science outreach perspective, so it's not like they aren't going to touch on issues such as climate change, vaccines, etc. Doubly so on vaccines due to their roots in the immune system

Rethinking Europe's decrepit welfare / pension system and allocating more funds toward younger families so they have more children is "communist"?

okay, i conceede on the communist part, because sure, nothing of sort was mentioned.

However, they kinda over-dramaticize everything, sure, it's a mess, but it's a race too. If germany still gets immigrants, and other places become older faster - you might get through long enough for new solutions to appear.

I guess what triggered my "anticommie" alarm was idea that somehow we need to subsidise child rearing and families, because it feels like government trying to force people to breed.

But the gloom part stays, i feel it's not as bad as they show

The problem is that this "ah it's not this bad"-attitude has put us in this situation in the first place. If you don't doom and gloom the can gets kicked further down the road.

A country (especially Germany) is slow to steer in new directions and this is triple true for population change. The situation is already fucked. Even if all women in Germany would have a child right now there will still be this generational gap of complete unbalance between retired people and the workforce in ~10 years until all those kids join the workforce in ~20 years.

Their initial video on ozempic was abysmal and said "everyone should be on it". They got hammered for it and have since done two (I think) redos on it. Other than that shitfire, U haven't seen anything bad about em.

Veritasium can fuck right off though. He sold out to private equity. There's no way he was even close to hurting for money and he still took the capitalism pill.
