Rename the days of the week to match the solar system

We already have Sun-day. Why are all the other days just random words? Like, what even is a "Thurs?"
I think the week should go: Sunday, Mercuryday, Venusday*, Marsday, Jupiterday, Saturnday, Neptuneday**
* Earthday is not included because we live on Earth, so every day is Earthday for us. Plus, that's already a holiday.
** Uranusday is skipped because there are only seven days of the week, and I think the planet Neptune is cooler than the planet Uranus.

It kind of is,
Sunday and Monday: Sun and Moon
If we go into Spanish
Martes = Mars = Tuesday
Miercoles = Mercury = Wednesday
Jueves = Jovias/Jupiter = Thursday
Viernes = Venus = Friday
Going back into English
Saturday = Saturn đŞ

They're mostly named after Norse Gods.

Your a bit late on this idea bub... that's exactly what the names of the week are named after, just in old english / norse / roman / every other language that's conquered Britain. They're mostly names of gods of certain celestial bodies. But, that's the whole point in general. Mars, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, mercury, the moon and the sun. Not in that order lol
MeanPepita@reddit
lmao yes this is hilarious for OP to discover
Inspector_Kowalski@reddit
Thursday meant Thunorâs day, an Old English god of thunder.
Adventurous_Dot_9763@reddit (OP)
huh, i didn't know that! thanks for telling me
CrushyOfTheSeas@reddit
Wednesday is Wodenâs (Odinâs) day.
lamma_smoker@reddit
Tuesday is Tyrsday, Friday is Friggasday.
12Blackbeast15@reddit
The days are mostly named after Norse gods, with some astrological names.Â
Monday - moonâs day Tuesday -Tyrâs day Wednesday - wodinâs day (Odin) Thursday - Thorâs day Friday - Friggâs day Saturday - Saturnâs day Sunday - doesnât need much explanation
calimehtar@reddit
I think we should name them after Christian gods: God's day, Jesus' day, holy spirit's day. And that's it.
realityinflux@reddit
Finally! The three-day work week!
GSilky@reddit
Thor's day. Wodin's day. Frigg's day, Tiu's day. Moon day (actually came from Latin as a direct translation of Luna day). Basically they used Norse analogs of Roman deities and celestial phenomenon.
rarescenarios@reddit
Bad idea. The French have already done this, and look how that turned out for them.
jerdle_reddit@reddit
It's Moon-day, Mars-day, Mercury-day, Jupiter-day, Venus-day, Saturn-day, Sun-day.
It's just that the planets were named after Roman gods, and English translated them into Old English gods.
Marzipan_civil@reddit
In Latin based languages, you have this eg french:
Lundi - moon day Mardi - Mars day Mercredi - Mercury day Jeudi - jupiter day Vendredi - Venus day Samedi - Saturn day
Well actually they're named for Roman gods, but so are most of the planets, so it works out the same.
English replaced some of the day names with Norse gods instead o Roman
MrBoomer1951@reddit
I like the German Mittwoch.
BextoMooseYT@reddit
Why would saturnday not be saturday
Present_Quantity_756@reddit

BextoMooseYT@reddit
Idk with the order OP put them in, it seems like it'd be friday. Unless sunday was not in fact sunday, I suppose, but then we have another problem lol
Adventurous_Dot_9763@reddit (OP)
I was honestly sorting them in their solar system order lol but I would be willing to shift things around!
Sisselpud@reddit
Greek names are better: Heliosday, Hermesday, Aphroditeday, Aresday, Zeusday, Cronusday, Poseidonday
