ULPT: How can I get an Airbnb shut down?
Posted by OriginalPimple@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 33 comments
As the title says, my neighbour has turned their house into an airbnb, I was not fully against it at first as it was described as a professional accommodation for a company.
Every weekend now it’s individuals using the house as a drug den (police have been called twice to arrest people) and orgies (currently happening this long weekend).
We can hear them from the back yard.
They are showing up with XL bullies, I have two cats and they are just letting them out unattended. They have already warned me not to let the cats in the yard as they have bullies. It felt a bit threatening and I have locked my cats inside until they leave.
It’s disturbing, we are all very unhappy with the current situation, more so the drugs and how the house is being used. It’s the anti social behaviour every weekend that’s the issue.
Does anyone have any advice how to get this shut down?

record and tell collect evidence throw pissdisks under the door or toss some laxitives over the walls.
and record the people leaving the house with cameras over your property and lambast them online
sometimes you can find there jobs if you manage to record there face properly, send it to there jobs, or the neighbors job that there employee is hosting druggies at there house for money

The neighbour has fucked off to Canada so it’s managed by someone else at the moment. They have set up cameras outside so unfortunately they will see me doing it.

Contact neighbor and tell him what you wrote he, I don’t think most owners want any of what you are describing here happening in their house. Wait, crap, its ULPT, what am I saying, pissdiscs is the answer!

I have already done this, no response yet. But started this post at the same time incase it doesn’t go positively. However, even if he does agree with me, how’s he going to control it. He’s “sublet” the property to a company that’s using it as a bnb. They will want to maximise profits regardless, I don’t think he has control who rents it during the weekend and the agents are just looking to fill the bookings. I could be wrong about this but we will see. I face messaged both the owner and “agent” managing it.
No_Nick89@reddit
It depends on the contract he made, which might be illegal to sublet, etc, also, what about HOA?
peggory@reddit
Well…..if your cats roam freely they get eaten. Pretty easy math. Imagine if everyone let their dogs roam freely?

Piss discs and a clay pigeon tosser
nayrwolf@reddit
Dump sürstromming near the entrance surreptitiously. Guests will complain of the smell and not stay. Repeat as needed. Added bonus the dogs will roll in the stink.
OutlandishnessNew904@reddit
What is surs...? TIA
OriginalPimple@reddit (OP)
I would but there are cameras in the outside. They will see me putting it through the door unfortunately.
sparkchaser@reddit
Use a drone to drop it off.
Helpful-Salt83@reddit
Toy warer gun with süstrumming juice in it. Spay liberally EVERYWHERE
shittyfatsack@reddit
Put the fish in water and freeze it. Then throw it into the yard away from the view of the cameras.
IrishknitCelticlace@reddit
Wow, I had to go look up what this is. Thank you, thank you, thank you.😏
thewharfartscenter_@reddit
THIS IS THE ANSWER. I was going to go with wolf piss, but sürstromming is the winner!

1: book the Airbnb for a cheap night
2: buy frozen raw shrimp (peeled)
3: right before you check out, leave shrimp in various hidden crevices, such as inside vents, in a little hole cut into the bottom of the mattress etc
4: wait and profit. The place will be stinky and the neighbor will not know why. They won’t be able to get rid of the smell (esp with summer coming up) and they will get a bunch of bad reviews. Hopefully enough to deter any more bookings.

Super unethical/dangerous: Rent the place for a day, get the wifi password. Use the wifi for illegal activity.

As someone who has been dealing with a very similar issue, I recommend recording video with audio, using a decibel meter, use https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/3290 to report them. I know it worked because the owner of the Airbnb next to me came over and threatened me. LOL
OriginalPimple@reddit (OP)
They are only on booking.com. I thought it was advertised on BnB but it’s only on booking.com
youcantseeme0_0@reddit
You can still contact their customer service to file a complaint. Have a video with the decibel meter reading ready to send. Do it repeatedly and they may take action against the property owner. This is long-term solution, though, as they'll take their sweet time. It's still important to establish consequences so that the owner takes the problem seriously.

Consider leaving a lengthy rating on their booking.com account. For example, this aught to do it:
⭐️🫥🫥🫥🫥 crack den visited by police often.
OriginalPimple@reddit (OP)
That’s actually really good! I messaged the owners and agent. If it doesn’t go well I will be doing this.
Youareaproperclown@reddit
Have a friend book the airbnb one time. Then do what you like.
shittyfatsack@reddit
Boom.
Phathed_b4itwascool@reddit
Will you share the listing so we can avoid all the drugs and orgies?
CatNamedSiena@reddit
Or partake in them?

Excellent_Seesaw_566@reddit
How about piss disc, but as an ice cube. Then you can slingshot them into their yard at night and not be seen?
Possible_Juice_3170@reddit
Leave bad reviews on Booking.com (since you said the listing was there).
Get your friends to do the same.
If you need to book to review, do that for cheap midweek nights and write the worst review possible while aiming to be factually true.
5c044@reddit
Install covert cams, gather evidence, wait for guests to find cams. Airbnb or police shut them down
slippingaway83@reddit
Have you contacted the city zoning authority? 90% chance it's not properly zoned or permitted
OptimalWallaby8153@reddit
the answer is always hiding fresh shrimp where it can't be found
fAIk3@reddit
Just put a body in their yard
