Looking to upgrade from my 2700X...

I've been using this CPU since I've first built my PC around 2018, and with Forza Horizon 6's release, I think it's finally time to upgrade it. I've been looking on PCPartPicker and I've found these to be interesting:
- Ryzen 5 5600X : The one recommended for FH6. The cheapest of my list at $230.
- Ryzen 5 5800X : Only about $30 more than the 5600X which makes it really interesting.
- Ryzen 9 5900XT : At $400 it's a bit over my budget, but it's still an interesting choice.
There was also the 5950X, but at $500 it's just too much for me, and there was the 5700X at $300, but why would I get this one when the 5800X is cheaper?
So... are any of the cheaper options good enough to last me for a while like my 2700X did, or should I splurge on the 5900XT?

The 5900xt is actually a 16 core, not a 12 core, contrary on what the name implies. It’s a slightly slower clocked 5950x. So as far as the ryzen 9’s go, the 5950x makes no sense.
Neither won’t be faster for games than a 5800x. And between a 5600x at 230 and a 5800x at 260, I’d pick the 5800x. From what country are you looking at the prices? Because they’re higher than the usd prices I can find.

They're in CAD, I forgot to mention it in the post initially 😅

I had a feeling, but people tend to think everyone is from the US and has access to their pricing and deals.
Regardless, I would pick the 5800x, unless you’re doing something that needs 16 cores. Gaming won’t and it will not make it last longer.

$230 is insane for a 5600X. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256809779718703.html 5700X for $178 is phenomenal by comparison.
That or hold off for the 5800X3D re-release that's coming and hope and pray you can actually snag one for MSRP.

You just made me realise I should have mentioned that my prices are in CAD 😅 The one you linked is actually $247 for me.

I went from the ryzen 5 2600x , to the Ryzen 7 5700x. Definitely worth the money since I only got it for $150 on EBay. : If you are strictly upgrading for gaming, consider looking into the Ryzen 7 5700X3D

Research a little bit about AM4 X3D CPUs rerelease, you may benefit of this event.

I bought a used 5800X of eBay for $105.50 shipped.
I have bought many used CPUs this way.

the 5900xt is a production chip with extra cores that video editors need, but it offers zero extra performance for gaming. the 5700x3d is the absolute best drop in upgrade for your old am4 motherboard and will easily last you another few years for games like forza horizon 6. just make sure to update your bios before swapping the chips.

5800 definitely.
