Hotel frequenters, do you use hotel provided shampoo/conditioner or do you bring your own?

I bring small containers in case I need it. But if the provided one doesn’t open without a key, I use that
Longjumping-Escape15@reddit
Definitely bring my own.. but I am a woman with very long hair. I bought four smallish bottles for shampoo/conditioner. Then I buy a large (40oz I think) refill bag of my favorite stuff. Two for home two for work and refill as needed. Easy.
cargocapt@reddit
I did until someone told me the story of someone jerking off into the shampoo bottle that hangs in the shower. Or the Youtube video of the woman (she was a FA too!) washing her underwear in the coffee pot.
Now if the hotel doesn't provide those small sample bottles, I use my own. Carry with me on every trip but don't always have to use them if the hotel provides sample bottle size. Most hotels you can ask at the front desk.
spacecadet2399@reddit
Use the hotel-provided but bring my own travel sized bottle just in case. along with my regular toiletries. Only think I've had to use it once in the last 3 or so years, but if I didn't have it that day it'd have been a major hassle.
ExecutivePhoenix@reddit
This is exactly what I do. The number of times I've gone to shower at 3am, only to find out all of the soaps are empty...
FlyingDog14@reddit
There’s not much that infuriates me as much as this. If I find them empty I’ll take them out of the mounts and leave them all open on the counter.
Cdraw51@reddit
I just use what's provided in the hotel, although I've heard that the hotel shampoo isn't exactly the greatest thing for your hair.
Cool_83@reddit
Bring my own, REMEMBER THE ENVIRONMENT :)
Gabriel_Owners@reddit
Are you truly saving the environment by burning extra fuel to haul around shampoo that already exists at your destination?
Cool_83@reddit
I spend about 200 nights a year in hotels, so its a case of keep using and refilling my own toiletries or use and throw. Which would you recommend?
Gabriel_Owners@reddit
I would recommend using the hotel provided amenities as much as possible. But that's just me, an airline pilot of 15 years who spends way less time in hotels than you do.
Cool_83@reddit
I guess corporate pilots spend more time in hotels than you :):) 17 years and counting :)
Cool_83@reddit
Nope, but does it make me keep a slight bit better :?
Cool_83@reddit
On that note, do you or I weigh more than than average person? Or did i decide to load an extra 2000 lbs of jet fuel?
f1racer328@reddit
I always have my own with me in case of hotel fuck up, but I use the hotel provided product... However I use my own face wash.

I bring my own.

Have no hair like me, no conundrum to ponder.

Provided shampoo and conditioner but bring my own body wash
JumboTrijet@reddit
Packing space/weight is at a premium for up to 17 day trips. Provided.
If it wasn’t for my wife, I’d have generic soap and shampoo at home.
Several-Village5814@reddit
Why not just use hotel and then you don’t have to worry about packing that much?
JumboTrijet@reddit
Yes. In my post I said that I use “provided”. That means the hotel supplies shampoo and soap.
Several-Village5814@reddit
Yea read it wrong
JumboTrijet@reddit
What did I get wrong?
Several-Village5814@reddit
Nothing

I used to bring my own hair products. More often than not, I was mid tier or lower hotels and the amenities were commensurate. I no longer bring that stuff. I eventually grew weary of having to refill travel bottles, and it was one more set of things to pack and unpack. Over time I got better hotels consistently. I also adapted my hair care routine and figured out how to do it even if I left my nicer stuff at home. Plus all it takes is one windy or humid city, and my temperamental hair goes nuts anyway and it’s all for naught. I also don’t usually need to wash/condition daily so sometimes I even plan my washes accordingly. If I know layover A has some fancy boutique brand products and hotel B has the usual Hilton stuff in green bottles, I’ll wash on layover A and just rinse on B. Or if it’s a super early pickup time, I’ll plan to wash a different day or the night before.
For soaps, I have been bringing my own for a while now. If the soap is good, I’ll use theirs. Sometimes it’s not great, or is a bit harsh on my skin. Maybe it’s a cold dry climate which adds to it. Or sometimes a hotel franchise cheaps out and doesn’t refill their mounted bottles with the actual stuff. My face in particular is extra sensitive so I’m mindful of that. One day in an airport I was killing time in a higher end body care shop and ended up trying a moisturizing wash I liked. Bought the travel size of it, easy enough to carry it around in my toiletries. Great for the layovers where the soap isn’t so great, I want the extra moisturizing, or just want to feel a bit more luxe.

Own, Sulfate free or my skin reacts negatively
SpatulaWholesale@reddit
Too many stories of bored employees jizzing in the shampoo...
Wow.. your hair is so lively and full of body...
... yeah... that's the seamen. FML..
Worried-Ebb-1699@reddit
Always my own. Those bulk containers are easy to open and I’m confident there’s gunk in it
4surenotathroeawhey@reddit
Provided as long as it’s locked properly lol
the_warmest_color@reddit
So you keep your own soap in your bag just in case it's not locked properly?
21MPH21@reddit
Never check YouTube to see how easily the locks are accessed
ALWAYS-RED-1992@reddit
I bring my own but I like to use one specific brand of bar soap which isn't actually that easy to find so I just keep a bar in my washbag.

I bring my own. My skin is sensitive and constantly changing between hotel products usually makes me react in some way or just really dry skin. Then again, I just bring a soap bar and shampoo on layovers 🤷♂️
