This is our newest unrelenting positivity post.
The state in question is the great state of Colorado.
To all our foreign friends give a shout ask questions send praise. To our Americans do the same.
Ask questions, share stories, make jokes. Just remember not to be a jerk.
Recall the famous phrase my grandma invented “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything that isn’t redemptively funny.”
Stay tuned for 38/50 after this one.
The states are in random order based on my whim at the moment. Today’s whim is being tasked with writing a brief about federalism because you nerds decided to legalize weed. It’s still federally illegal you know? Also Wetterhorn is my favorite mountain in the US, thanks for that and the crippling altitude sickness.

I don't care for the front range cities at all (or cities in general) but the small towns and natural beauty is some of the best I've ever seen. Went off roading on the Alpine loop from Silverton to Lake City and back and it was incredible.
Great Sand Dunes is an amazing place. So many great places for hiking and camping. Ouray is my favorite small town.

Rocky Mountain National Park is a must at least once in everyone’s life
Shoddy_Consequence78@reddit
It's a lovely place that has unfortunately been overrun by too many tourists on any given day.

There are still areas that you can go with no people or waaaay fewer. American Lakes area up by State Forest State Park, Wild Basin, and even Lumpy Ridge. Only Bear Lake corridor is busy more than 2 miles off trailhead, that area is packed all the way to the back.
Plus, if you visit in the winter (which is the best season) you can hike literally alone. It's magical!

Greenies!!! 💚

I came back from Colorado just yesterday, or as we call it. The south. The wind goes away and it’s warmer.

I miss breathing that mountain air. Western mountains just hit different than the New England ones around me.
ShaniquaQ@reddit
Grew up in the Midwest but moved her as soon as I could. The mountains are calling!
Honestly love this state, the laid back vibes and the incredible amount of amazing places to see... In no particular order
Rocky Mountain National Park The Great Sand Dunes National Park Mesa Verde Black Canyon of the Gunnison Buena Vista/ Collegiate Peaks Maroon Bells Every Wilderness area...a Colorado Monument Garden of the Gods Telluride Snowmass Durango Evergreen Grand Lake Winter Park Breck Vail Aspen Steamboat Paonia Palisade
Omg I love it here

You left Silverton off your otherwise very complete list. How dare you?

Because the air is thin and dry, Colorado is easy mode for staying comfortable. 50F in a place like Boston feels much colder than 20F in Colorado. And sweating actually works as a way to cool off when it's too hot! It has my favorite weather, which is when the air is cold but if you're standing on the sun, you feel warm.
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
I kind of disagree with 50 vs 20 but on the hot end of the spectrum I’d be way more comfortable with 100 in CO than 80 in Atlanta.
That dry mountain air is quite nice.

My family did a road trip in 2004 and we went through colorado. We end up getting stuck in Durango for a week because my mother's toe was infected. That was a nice place to be stuck for a week.

Coming from Minnesota, NO MOSQUITOES! Well, very few, at least.

Beautiful scenery.
Best U.S. weather outside of California.
Best legal drugs in the country.
Only the baseball is second rate.

Mods rly tryna make themselves the main character with these “positivity” posts.
QuantumAttic@reddit
it's just a short term project for fun. One mod can't be from 50 states. It's not a big deal.
GhostOfJamesStrang@reddit
Man, if this is the worst thing that happens to you today, must be nice.

This is a personal project so don’t blame my co-mods.
I don’t believe any of us are main characters. Do you think you are?
You hate unrelenting positivity?
lightgreenspirits@reddit
Yet you pin your posts to the top of the sub rather than allowing the algorithm to choose if they live or die. The posts are artificial. They did not become a daily “event” because people naturally upvoted them. It became one because a mod pinned his own posts for exposure
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
As artificial as the day is long. You’re mad I took on this project?
Trust me when I say it was not done for “exposure”
But sure if you want “the algorithm” to choose for you then fine you do you.
lightgreenspirits@reddit
Mods you weak af for muting a guy instead of defending your bans. Y’all weak for deleting comments you don’t like. You guys are just reinforcing the stereotype

I've heard that the people of Colorado tend to be more physically fit that people from other states. Based on some time I spent in Denver, that seems to be true. I don't think I saw a single person in that city that looked overweight... unless you count the times I saw myself in a mirror.
PhunkyPhazon@reddit
Biased since I'm from there but it's a really nice place to live. I'm always five minutes away from a scenic hike and there's all sorts of little towns and landmarks that make for a fun day trip.
SaintJimmy1@reddit
I grew up in Bailey and it was a wonderful setting for my childhood.

My experience in Colorado has been really limited: one visit to see a family friend in Colorado Springs, and another to attend a wedding in the Denver area. Still, both visits were great, and I was able to appreciate just how stunning the landscapes are there. Garden of the Gods felt unreal, and Pikes Peak was incredible too. Also got to check out Reds Rock Amphitheater, and it was great as well.
Would definitely love to revisit Colorado and see a lot more of it, especially Rocky Mountain National Park, Mesa Verde, Black Canyon on the Gunnison, and some of the ski areas.

I love how the souvenir shops absolutely lean into the Mile High jokes. I don't even smoke the ganj and I got a kick out of it.
Sad_bippy@reddit
My home state <3 I have traveled all over this country and loved many places in their own way, but Colorado is the only place I feel the constant urge to return to, like a bird’s biological instinct to migrate home. All roads lead to Colorado for me.
SnapHackelPop@reddit
My childhood buddy lived in Springs for a while, back porch had a perfect view of Pike’s Peak. Doesn’t feel real coming from the Midwest

Colorado has some great hunting.
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
Never done that there. I have seen all the animals but never killed them.
mickeltee@reddit
Colorado Springs is one of my favorite places on earth. Garden of the Gods is a natural wonder.
5timechamps@reddit
So beautiful. I think I’m going to be able to get there this summer for the first time in years. I can’t wait.
PeppyQuotient57@reddit
Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak are two of my favorite natural places I’ve ever been. They’re just so unbelievably beautiful (also I’m biased because I strongly relate Pikes Peak to being home)

Colorado is the only place that can make you feel spiritually healed and physically unable to breathe at the same time.
