A little bit of humor. I'm sure we can all agree. LOL.
Wasatchbl@reddit
Gen X's playlist would never be '90s, it's late '70s and the '80s.
Important-Matter-665@reddit
I turned 16 in 1990, What are you talking about? 90s music is definitely gen x.
Wasatchbl@reddit
Gen X is defined by sociologists. But when you say Gen X music, you do not think '90s music. In the '90s most gen xers were in college or having kids
kai1793@reddit
I think 90s music more than any other decade defines Gen X.
adudeguyman@reddit
The '90s had awesome music too. Especially the early to mid '90s
Wasatchbl@reddit
But it's not what comes to mind when you say Gen X. I know that the separations are done by sociologists and whatever but when you say Gen X music Creed, Staind, or Limp Bizkit do not come to mind.
boatoke@reddit (OP)
The music you mention is most definitely Millennial. However I think that era was the last of the good music. The stuff after that was just pure rubbish. IMHO.
Wasatchbl@reddit
I agree with the stuff. After the '90s being rubbish. I include the '90s also. It's not so bad to call yourself Generation Y. Embrace it
boatoke@reddit (OP)
I love the late 70s and 80s rock. Being only 49 though my love of grunge and metal has me all up in the feels.
Wasatchbl@reddit
I know that the divisions are done by sociologists, but I still think that anything after 1989 is not Gen X music
IrregularThumb@reddit
I must have written this post and forgotten about it.

RadioCaroline721@reddit
Yeah, spent 5 hours in the garden yesterday and feel like I ran an Ironman. My brain woke up this morning and said ok, let’s get to it and my body said “we’re gonna need some ibuprofen!”
Upper_Knowledge_6439@reddit
That was me last weekend. Top dressed the lawns, reseeded, fertilized, and then peat moss.

boatoke@reddit (OP)
I'm just damn proud of myself for cutting a tree (half way down) 😂 things are a process these days. I was asked if I loaded the branches and rode them away the same day and I was like naaaah I'm not 18 anymore that's for another day.
IMIndyJones@reddit
The first 2 are right. They second 2 not so much.
My body thinks it's 57 which messes with my 25 year old mind.
My Playlist thinks I'm 21 because I exclusively listen to kpop, Korean R&B, and Korean and Japanese rock. I like new music. The stuff from the 80s and 90s is nostalgic but a bit of "been there, done that" for me.
kai1793@reddit
Aside from some Early 00s sneaking into my playlist (something I don’t entirely understand), this is accurate.
HoikDini@reddit
Same, except my playlist thinks it's the 70s.
FlowerofMountains@reddit
You're telling me. I've never met a "Soft 70s AM" or "Yacht Rock" tune I didn't like.😂😂 😂
boatoke@reddit (OP)
My 70s music would be the rock/metal preference.
HorridosTorpedo@reddit
I'm 58. I crashed my mountain bike a couple of weeks ago, trying to ride it down a flight of concrete steps. I somehow forgot not only that I'm not 15 any more, but also, and perhaps more importantly, that I'd have crashed trying to do this when I was 15 too.
Also I just got really into some new Japanese bands.
IMIndyJones@reddit
Ooo. What Japanese bands?
I have a banana bike that I loved riding everywhere but the handle bars rusted and broke off. I want to get another one because it's a dream to ride. I was questioning whether a 57 year old can ride one, then I was like "I'll do what I want". Lol
boatoke@reddit (OP)
That's the problem. I look at my wake board and think. Yup I could still pull off those tricks I ddi when I was younger. But nope what feels like 3 seconds on the thing and I'm done for.
Incidently I have ridden a couple of mountain bike trails with my 10 year old. Got half way up the hill and thought I was going chuck up a lung. Let's just say I'm "cycling unfit" 🤣
WhisperedSoul@reddit
Chuck up a lung has me HOWLING 🤣
boatoke@reddit (OP)
I would've been howling too had it not been for me trying to keep my breakfast in. 😂 Always funnier when it happens to someone else 🤣
HorridosTorpedo@reddit
I was seeing stars last time I was really determined that I was going to ride up this here hill. Stick with it though. You can get back to bike fit (ish) in not too long. Little but often seems to be the thing.
boatoke@reddit (OP)
Agreed.
Just gotta hide the tears and the sweat and the feeling of life as we know it is about to end abruptly as you heave to breathe and stay upright while your chest is trying to stave off heart failure. All while I look over at my son and say damn this is so good hey? 😂
cynzthin@reddit
Well? Tell us these bands!
HorridosTorpedo@reddit
I got into this rabbit hole from hearing a clip of Haku, listening to their other music and realising that they were all just the most catchy songs I'd heard in years. Then I followed some stuff that was thrown up by Youtube and ended up at Rubens, then (the less 'new') Hitsujibungaku and now Sheena Ringo.
fishingjohnson@reddit
49 here. I love maximum the hormone, bandmaid and hanabie!
HorridosTorpedo@reddit
Been meaning to listen to Bandmaid. The name keeps popping up. I got into this from hearing Haku and then Rubens, Hitsujibungaku and now Sheena Ringo. Japanese music is a hell of a rabbit hole.
fishingjohnson@reddit
Band- maid has probably some of the best drumming and bass guitar I've ever heard.
FlowerofMountains@reddit

Gen Jones. We had THE music! ‘65-‘85. Twenty years of the greatest. Srry y’all.
Sevenjim@reddit

saranghaemagpie@reddit
Is Gen Jones the sliver between Booms and Xers? My brother was born in '63 and his music is defined by the late 70's into '85. I am '71 and so mine is definitely defined from '87 to '94. I was heavily influenced by his music when I was really young though.
I find it interesting that Gen Jones and Xers are usually in the same household. My mom always had a theory Gen Jones identified more with Booms because the tail end of the Silent Gen who married young was right before Vietnam. She said Vietnam lost so much of Gen Jones and Xers nobody was having kids.

On the verge of 60. Torn meniscus and torn labrum. Arthritis in my neck from a MVA in 2005. Physically fit, but body doesn’t want to do what I want to do. Shit catches up with you.
That said, I no longer think I’m 25 or 35. Maturity and pain seem to coincide.
However….my current playlist is mostly club EDM. Dont get me wrong, I’ve seen GnR 12x, have an EVH Franken-strat reproduction on my wall and was lucky to see RATM on the last tour (was at the show where Zack tore his Achilles).
Love finding new music that I connect with, it keeps me young.

I pity the kids of today. What the hell are they going to listen to when they get to be middle aged and feel nostalgic. Surely the crap music these days can't give off the same feeling!?!?! Whoop whoop whoop gang am style!!!! 😂

I love the 80s music although some of the pop music was really cheesy, however the 90s music is more nostalgic to me as a younger Gen Z. It's the coming of age nostalgia the life I had back then. The "thinking" that your whole world and life lies ahead of you.

My knees think I’m 130
urlach3r@reddit
Y'all have knees??!
boatoke@reddit (OP)
If I need to bend or crouch down I make sure there is a wall or a counter first to pull myself back up on.
urlach3r@reddit
Oh yeah, dropping down for anything needs an exit strategy first.
boatoke@reddit (OP)
And then there's me yesterday 5m up a tree to cut it down. I'm Hella surprised that I can walk today. Wonders cease to amaze, actually feeling good after that. But ya another day I might sneeze and throw my back out.
Ashamed_Result_3282@reddit
Mine are 11 (left) & 9 (right)! 😂 The rest of me is 56 & there's quite a bit missing now. But still here, still ornery! 😁✌🏻💚
Sufficient_Stop8381@reddit
My mind is definitely not 25
boatoke@reddit (OP)
Sometimes younger. But then the next my body says naaaaaahhh dude I think you gotta take it easy today.
Ok_Kick6546@reddit
My randomly shuffled playlist includes REM, Nirvana, The Mamas and The Papas, The Clash, Tony Orlando and Dawn, and Led Zeppelin. I feel seen.
boatoke@reddit (OP)
Love it. A good balance there I would say.
Odd-Perception7812@reddit
My quarantine Playlist covers 50's to 00's.

boatoke@reddit (OP)
Seems like you gotta brush up on your loan debt collecting skills. See what I did there? 😂
zetazen@reddit
My mind thinks like a 55 year old woman. Lol confident. My playlist is a mix of the last 50 years.
lambent_ort@reddit
Always thought I'd die in my 40s. Turned 50 last year. Guess I missed the deadline. 🫠
Common-Ad-4221@reddit
Not me! I’m already dead! I just can afford to rest into I pay the bills. Overtime sucks.
boatoke@reddit (OP)
Only on the inside 🤣
boatoke@reddit (OP)
Well I'm asthmatic and the quack once told me won't live past 40 the way I carry on. WEEEEELLLL I'm turning 50 this year so I'd say I'm winning.
pej69@reddit
I’m already older than my grandfather was when he died, and nearly as old as my dad was.

boatoke@reddit (OP)
Some days I'm feeling the 80s and some days the 90s hell some days even the late seventies rock. But I'm sorry the stuff these days............ Nu uh!!!!!
realityguy1@reddit
Yea what’s that 90’s music thing about.
KeggyFulabier@reddit
I buy new music constantly, I still listen to the old stuff . None of that radio crap though.
dontflexthat@reddit
I really hate this “I feel like I’m 25” nonsense. On the one hand, it’s super cringe and icky, but more importantly, it’s inaccurate. When you’re 40 or 50, your mind is not 25. Some people, and I’m including myself here, don’t like the fact that they get older. They want more time and to retain their youth somehow. It’s that. It’s being sad that life is short and you are old. Your mind is not 25. That’s nonsense.
RootHogOrDieTrying@reddit
Complains about people saying they feel younger, uses the phrase, "cringe and icky".
AntC_808@reddit
That’s probably consistent with the human experience.
