Everyone posting their paystubs making good money working 70 plus hours, heres my paystub averaging 34 hours a week

I don’t like the idea of having to give up alot of my free time just to make ends meet. My job allows me to strike a good balance between free time and decent pay.
Jaguer39@reddit
Very nice! 40 hours for me is 1600 and some change.
Comprehensive-Let232@reddit
This sub really has just turned into a pissing contest
Ambitious_Feature_87@reddit
No investments though?
Lady_Sharizyn@reddit
That's a lot in taxes
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
It’s average for someone with no dependents in Illinois. If I had kids it would be a different story.
TurbulentMoney1773@reddit
I did Penske logistics Nissan account and was suppose to pull doubles and ended up being stuck doing the worse delivery route 14 hour days
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Yeah a lot of the guys pulling doubles complain about the hours. I lucked in with my route, it’s one of the shorter ones. I drove a total of 160 miles doing 4 stops a day so I’m able to finish and get back quickly.
TurbulentMoney1773@reddit
The doubles route would have been and 8 hour day i ended up as delivery driver with 12 stops 350 miles 14 hour days and i was driving 1 hour to work. The doubles was 85k a year for 40 hours if they had kept their promise i probably would of never left
Longway23544@reddit
Yep I live in Illinois and have dependents they take out way less taxes for me
KyBlue193@reddit
how much years experience required to work at your company ?
Different-Key-4331@reddit
You must be union in California I'd guess?
TurbulentMoney1773@reddit
If the average trucker worked 40 hours a week it wouldn’t be considered a good paying career
Longway23544@reddit
Exactly
Sea_Impact_3034@reddit
You’re in my dream job. Mind saying what company you’re with? How much exp did you need to get there, endorsements etc?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
It’s Penske Logistics Mopar account. I only had a year of experience, no endorsement.
Sea_Impact_3034@reddit
Awesome. Seriously that is amazing. I am looking to leave IT for trucking once I have my savings and monthly bills in a place to where I can make about 1/3 of what I do today but live exactly the same.
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Same, no amount of money ever bought a second of time. I was very lucky to be able to find a job that pays well and strikes a good balance. Your first year or so you’ll have to suck it up and work long hours with shit pay but once you get that under your belt more doors will open and you’ll be able to find a position that suits your needs. Good luck!
Sea_Impact_3034@reddit
I’m all about paying my dues. But once I’m “in” I just want a relatively predictable overnight schedule that pays decent and isn’t more than 50hr/week.
I don’t feel like that’s too much to ask.
TankLast1553@reddit
I do local flatbed. I bring home $1300 a week home every night and every weekend. 8 to 10 loads a week. Easy money. Def could make more if I did regional. I like my time home though. Money is good to me.
Exotic_Bathroom5382@reddit
None of these paystubs mean shit without the name of the employer.
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
I named the employer in my replies to other commenters.
Al-Spawn-Simmons@reddit
I can confirm. We have a good work balance at Penske Logistics/Stellantis account. 5 days on, weekends off, and all holidays off with pay. They even call off all routes due to bad weather with pay. Definitely a sleeper company. Im a linehauler.
PomegranateSmooth111@reddit
I much rather do this 34 hrs/1500 a week. Better quality of life.
IIxNullxII@reddit
The thing with trucking (and any job) is trading time for money. The more time you're willing to sacrifice, the more you tend to make. Some live to be on the road, while others seek a good balance. You, my friend, have a great balance. If what you bring in supports your lifestyle, the you're doing outstanding.
MikeLPause@reddit
That’s the thing about trucking. “Oh you got that CDL money” and they think that trucking pays good..No, it just lets you make an insane amount of hours. Along with logbook editing or your company allowing you to run local without a log book or on paper yeah you’ll make more. But at what cost? I don’t want to work 100h weekly for the rest of my life.
Routine-Ad-1629@reddit
This is about what im making delivering beer between 8 to 12 hours a day 4 days a week in michigan. Closer to 30 hours is like 1k closer to 45 is about 1.5k. Feels good to be home by 2pm every day
SUPRA239@reddit
This almost looks just like mine. 5 days a week, weekends off, 33-35 hours a week as well. Having to work 70 hours a week is awful.
GronGrinder@reddit
Wow
doobersthetitan@reddit
I bring home about 1800 a week...40 hours. Home every night and work 4 10s
And I'm not even in a A vehicle lol
Additional_Cow2696@reddit
That ain't that bad for 34 hours a week
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Yeah I’m happy with it, I get to spend more time at home with my family and loved ones and still make enough to make ends meet comfortably. I’ll admit that seeing all these people making 3 to 5k gross does make me feel like I’m missing out but I think the amount of time I keep to myself balances it out.
Keep_Truckin_88@reddit
That’s a great balance! If you don’t mind me asking who do you work for? Or what industry?
_Roba@reddit
Your balance is great. I average 45 to 50/week and I'm in the same pay window as you.
daemonescanem@reddit
Run in whatever way makes you happy and your financial needs are met.
Cornfugga@reddit
I took a job with less hours and a little less pay m, and life is much more manageable when you have hours to enjoy.
bicyclewhoa17@reddit
Health insirance? 401k? 401k match?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Yeah all of that and employee discounts at many stores and airline tickets, employee assistance, 2 weeks vacation a year. It’s a great job.
haydukelives56@reddit
what company offers all that as well as such a great schedule?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Penske logistics. I do my route in around 6 hours.
haydukelives56@reddit
that’s awesome! does penske do dedicated freight or is your route kind of different every day?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Yeah it’s a dedicated route for Mopar. I deliver to car parts to dealerships. It’s very easy, you do have to unload yourself but it’s mostly just pushing around a pallet jack.
haydukelives56@reddit
that don’t sound bad at all :) love me a pup trailer, it’s so easy to whip around even when you’ve got a sleeper. is this a union gig?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Yeah it’s even easier with a day cab. But no it’s not a union gig unfortunately. I don’t believe they have a union for local drivers, at least not where I work, but the guys working at the distribution centers do and they make great money as well.
Bergamoted@reddit
Is this in nj?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
No It’s in Illinois.
haydukelives56@reddit
well dang, the benefits and minimum guarantees make it sound like a union gig so you’ve got something great going on. i’m glad you found that!
Luxorioo@reddit
Penske? Which contract?
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Mopar
untrendahj@reddit
Sweetheart job. Never leave lol
gnarxkillll@reddit
i’m in the same ish boat, i work food delivery for a small local company. rarely work more than 40-45 hours a week and take home about 1150-1250 depending on cases. if it works, it works.
ATWAR68@reddit
$42.90 An Hour Not Bad At All
yungsnipe17@reddit
Hell when your making over a grand a week not even working 40 hrs Id never leave that place 🤣 just remember there’s people working 80 hrs a week and can’t make ends meet so consider yourself very blessed ! Stay safe Driver ✌️
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
Thank you, yeah I’m aware that plenty of people are struggling so I feel blessed to be able to make a decent amount of money and have a solid work life balance. You stay safe as well!
SchityCityGangBang@reddit
Kinda sick of seeing these posts tbh.
Thegrandestpoo@reddit
For the amount of hours you work? That’s killer. I’d be all over something like this if I could afford it.
VALK_27@reddit
Not really a flex, only saying that because of your title to this post, but it doesn't look like your getting anything more than a pay check
Kevo_xx@reddit (OP)
I wasn’t trying to flex, not sure what you’re getting at. I think I’m doing pretty well without having to basically live in a truck all things considered.
