I-45 in Texas exit 238 north of Corsicana. I stopped there because I was almost out of time. When I walked in the cashier was washing his feet in the sink by the coffee. Restroom was barely better than having a hole in the floor. I thought it had a restaurant, not that I would eat there after those first two sentences. Restaurant was closed, as in gone, boarded up, probably closed by the health department in my opinion. There was a damaged wide load mobile home trailer in the parking lot, looked like it had been there for months. Noticed only 1 or 2 diesel pumps actually worked.

There's no current truck stop that could even begin to touch the old Mont Eagle Truck stop. There hadn't been doors on the stalls for better than a decade before they tore it down, smoke so thick you needed a gas mask in the hallways near the slot machine room. If you wanted to graffiti the bathroom you'd have to bring paint and paint over the wall first. I can't EVER remember seeing anyone clean anything there.

Marathon (formerly Luci’s, now a Hopstop) in Owensboro, KY. Undoubtedly the worst bathroom I’ve ever found on the road. The parking lot really isn’t that bad. It’s actually pretty reliable parking in the area. It used to have a good restaurant until the place got bought and it closed. What’s left of the store is tiny and claustrophobic. They USED to let the workers smoke in there and it was FOUL. It permeated everything including the hot food. Two years later and it still smells a little weird inside. The showers are narrow and outdated with no sink or toilet.

But none of that is anything compared to the abysmal state of the bathroom. Broken unrinal that people still piss in. Broken sink. Two stalls with doors falling off and graffitied to oblivion. The wall between the stalls is too high and you can see too much between them. There’s peep holes drilled between the two and steel plate that was placed to cover a much LARGER hole that used to be there. I know a driver that caught a guy trying to take pictures of him in the stall and literally beat his ass in the parking lot to get him to delete the pictures on his phone.

We had a fuel stop in Laredo, TX that was disgusting. Dirty and gross are kind words. There was a sign (by the owners or some practical joker) over the toilet that said not to throw toothpicks in the toilet as the crabs had learned to pole vault.

flying J in Aurora, CO. had to swap trailers and take a 34 there.. and it was a hell scape.

it was also my birthday weekend, so I had booked a room for myself nearby and was planning to just leave the truck there and dip, but it was a way worse parking situation than I thought. I knew where I was going allowed truck parking, but they didn't want me to use PC for some reason even, so I told them, well I'm not even legally parked, so the truck can be potentially towed or it can safely come with me. I was getting out of there either way. magically I was allowed PC and was wished a wonderful birthday 🤷‍♂️

Loves #294 off I-20 in Dallas is pretty awful. The Petro in West Memphis is similarly terrible yet still somehow the nicest truck stop in West Memphis. The Lamar Avenue Loves in Memphis is still incredibly sketchy and is the only place I've seen open air prostitution on the road but after the most recent shooting they put the national guard in the parking lot and it was surprisingly nice for a while, weighed my truck and refilled my drink and politely declined the lot lizards and had no trouble at all.

Pretty much anything within an hour of a major city is dogshit in general. Not always, there are exceptions - Bordentown Petro is one of the nicest in the country that isn't an I-80 group Petro and it's pretty close to NYC proper.

Kwik Trip corporate has so many "Secret Shoppers" and surprise inspections that stores will never reach that level. Don, and now his kid, makes cleanliness of their properties a #1 priority along with customer service. How many bathrooms have you been in that has a light switch near the door just for indicating to the crew that the bathroom needs attention? And yes, the switch works. The lights are in the backroom for all the crew members and managers to see if they've been turned on since the last time someone was in there cleaning.

If it's the one I think you're talking about, it's gone now. Kitchen fire a couple of years ago closed the building. Lot stayed open for about another year before too many trashy truckers put the final nail in the coffin. The city it was in is trying to force the property owners to build a hotel and conference center on the property. They will absolutely not approve another truck stop regardless of who owns it. Not even Kwik Trip.

BP Kalgoorlie, always shit n piss all over the floors absolutely stinks in WA heat. The staff wont go clean it either, the whole place is just fucked toilets overflowing, doors dont lock and the whole place is filthy. If I have to stay there I get pizza delivered, would never purchase food from this place could only imagine what the kitchen area looks like..
