Still funny to me American cars are only fun and exciting with fat massive V8’s.
Jamaican_Dynamite@reddit
EcoBoost Mustang? Focus/Fiesta ST? SRT-4? Cobalt SS? Grand National?
ayyitzTwocatZ@reddit
2027 models where? We really going to ignore how hype fans are getting with SRT putting their engines on each car today? The V8’s really make a difference in all these overweight boats.
Vhozite@reddit
Don’t forget the CT4-V Blackwing/ATS-V and the Fiero
dovahbe4r@reddit
Cannot forget the Viper! Not a "fat massive V8" either.
RunnerLuke357@reddit
He says with a Mustang GT flair.
Eggith@reddit
We have had plenty of fun and exciting cars with less than or more than 8 Cylinders.
dang_it_bobby93@reddit
I know this sub hates Stelantis but I'm glad to see them start cooking up some interesting offerings. I really would like a Gladiator with the 5.7 and a manual that would be sweet. Really excited to see the copperhead or whatever they call it.
g-4-ces@reddit
I bought a 2025 Lexus GX550. It was terrible. Toyota seems to get a huge pass for current quality issues. I got rid of that POS for the Cayenne. I also sold a 2013 wrangler for a 2026 Rubicon. The wrangler every which way possible is higher quality, a better ride, etc etc etc over the Lexus.
dirtydriver58@reddit
The V6 engines that replace the old Toyota V8 engines are horrible
NarcoticCow@reddit
There’s so much other new tech in them to also fail
penguinchem13@reddit
Complain when they use the same engines forever, complain when they change them
Fs_ginganinja@reddit
Yeah it’s like they got bored of making reliable shit and decide “what if we tried this recall thing?”
MehFrosty@reddit
Holy shit how much did Jeep pay you to post this? LMFAO
peakdecline@reddit
I've repeatedly said this but I'll say it again.
My Jeep Gladiator was considerably better built than my Bronco is... Far less rattles of the interior. Better material quality. Less wind noise.
I also never had a part failure with my Gladiator. The Bronco's sway bar disconnect completely failed on me. And my passenger side headlight also died. All under 12K miles. With not even a fraction of the off-road abuse my Gladiator had experienced.
I'd go back to a Gladiator immediately if the interior was just slightly wider. Hell I still might if they drop the 392 (or even the 5.7L) in it.
TheNonExample@reddit
A few years ago I was dead set on a Bronco, but checked out the Wrangler and the interior quality was much nicer on the Wrangler.
Stlrfan152@reddit
I dont think jeeps quality is that bad and jeep definitely has a more solid interior, but ive had a few jeeps and 2 broncos and both have had major issues.
Mdbutnomd@reddit
That’s shocking, and disappointing about the GX. Especially considering a wrangler competes as you say (I haven’t been in a new wrangler). I really wish Lexus could get some of its DNA back from its 90s offerings where it really felt special from competing models in a given market segment.
NarcoticCow@reddit
I think by now, most companies have realized there’s more money to be made in vehicles that fail and need to be repaired or replaced
Neglected_Martian@reddit
Did you just say the wrangler drove better than a Lexus gx550?!? Solid front axle vehicles drive like shit, great for off-road crawling sure, but high speed flat highway road with mud terrain tires, not a chance.
peakdecline@reddit
2024+ Wranglers (and Gladiators) have improved steering characteristics. The 2024+ Wranglers do not wonder on the highway nearly as much as earlier ones. With that issue addressed general highway driving feel is absolutely fine.
The GX550 is poorly damped in my experience with it, albeit brief.
Now, IFS is going to always handle better than SFA. But you're really not going to expose this downside in general highway driving.
Also lots of Rubicons, maybe even a majority, come standard with an All Terrain.
rhc34@reddit
General highway driving is one of the main areas where ifs shines over an sfa… Jeep can “address” the highway issues as much as they want but they’ll still exist as long as that solid front axle remains.
NarcoticCow@reddit
General highway driving is where you’d least notice the difference lmao
A solid axles just means the other tire also moves if one experiences a bump.
Highways are smooth
peakdecline@reddit
No, it's not. The Wrangler once the wondering is solved (easy to do on earlier yearsand already solved on 2024+ models from factory) rides fine on the highway.
This is classic Redditors repeating stuff they don't have actual experience with... The highway is not where the ride and handling differences are most evident.
fiddlythingsATX@reddit
Wander?
dang_it_bobby93@reddit
Impossible the Wrangler is line riding a gocart with no suspension and a wooden seat without padding. /S
The new Tundras have been a nightmare from what I've seen. I think every car can have it's good and bad vehicles but pretending Toyota has just wins is silly. I really like the new offerings in the pipeline from Stelantis but I won't be buying a compass or similar low end offering.
Hugh-Jass24@reddit
An SRT Gladiator with a nickname like "Maximus" would be cool.
lunaticfridgeprime@reddit
What about this is interesting? I've seen about a hundred different posts regarding various stellantis trash, but v8. How is that interesting?
peakdecline@reddit
Tim Kuniskis comments about wanting to put IFS under this is certainly interesting. I've long thought at some point they were going to do both IFS and SFA on the Wrangler. Some seem to think its some kind of impossibility but multiple manufacturers already offer rear independent suspension SUVs on platforms shared with rear solid axle trucks (GM, Ford and Jeep themselves with the Wagoneers).
Ultimately... IFS makes sense for 90% of the customers. They could absolutely get away with IFS on the majority of the lineup and then put a SFA under the Rubicon (and maybe Willys as the more affordable option). That's fine with me. And if they're wanting to do something high speed off-road oriented that isn't compromised, see Gladiator Mojave, it makes sense to do IFS.
OverlandSteve@reddit
I wonder if that is the niche the Jeep Recon is going to slide into. Apparently it is now getting an ICE version as well.
V48runner@reddit
If I wanted a Stelantis with shitty IFS, I'd buy a RAM. People keep buying Jeeps because they have solid axles up front, and out back. It's the only reason I'd even consider buying one of their products.
commandercrackbutt@reddit
Surely this will give GM the wake up call it needs to bring back the blazer properly right? …….right?
costafilh0@reddit
They should use V8s from GM to make it cheaper, morre profitable, and more reliable.
FentmaxxerActual@reddit
Yeah because GM's truck V8s are the paragon of reliability right now lmao
RunnerLuke357@reddit
Gen3 and Gen4 were great, early Gen5 wasn't even that bad, but lately they have taken a dump.
RunnerLuke357@reddit
This would've been true 10 years ago but the mighty have fallen. I say this as a GM fanboy. Gen6 might be good but late Gen5 damn sure hasn't been.
RunnerLuke357@reddit
If they make it a single cab or an extended cab I will have been sold. I don't want or need a fucking crew cab I want a bed I can use while having some fun.
OkDirection8015@reddit
I’ve always like their products but the quality and prices have always been a huge issue.
BetweenFourAndTwenty@reddit
I will say, as someone who has worked for a Stellantis dealership before, the cars aren't as bad as the Internet makes them out to be. Durango's are pretty much bulletproof (specially the ones with the Hemi) because of how long they've been in production. Same thing goes with the Wrangler. 3.6 Pentastar has been out forever and so has the ZF8 gearbox.
Now the newer models are absolute shit boxes. I would never touch a Hornet. That's just asking to get to know your service advisor on a first name basis.
_galaga_@reddit
For me it’s electronics in the 5th gen RAM. The Hurricane is great but fuck the electronics. And not to pile on but I liked the 4xe concept a lot, drove lots of rental 4xes without a hiccup, but the electronics/battery issues kept me from considering one. Drove a loaner Hornet and yeah. Glad to give that back eventually.
Several-Eggplant4460@reddit
With the reliability of a BMW and driving dynamics of a Toyota?
DickKravens@reddit
Quality definitely dwindles when it comes to the point where it’s late in the refresh cycle, stellantis likes to let their models age a long while
LimpRide206@reddit
While fuel economy and emissions regulations are challenges, this vehicle still holds strong appeal for traditional American muscle car fans.
MasterpieceStill9991@reddit
V8 + open-top + truck = empty wallet, full grin.
Hockey-Gym@reddit
Glad to see them exploring options with the wrangler lineup but I’d bet the Scrambler is coming in below the Gladiator by the time it gets to the showroom.
