Man you people suck.

Only 2 years in and I'm so sick of us. You park in fuel lanes. You don't slow for a pass or let me know you respect I slowed for you to pass. The shit I see truckers do daily makes my blood boil. You're illegally parked at 10am. Wtf is going on and why in the last 2 years is this issue getting so much worse? I hate my fellows and that hate is running so deep. Trucks use left lane whelp why not rush in right? You all speed you're all just wrong I'm so fed up. Why is everyone filing spots when I run nights. What is going on?
You people are miserable. I'm becoming miserable wtf. I want out. I hate people I hate you. I'm starting to feel the racism which is wrong but what that acutal fuck. Care about the people around you. Ugh.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
It's the foreigners and the jaded people doing these things, America is crumbling. It isn't just trucking that this is happening in, it's society as a whole. There's no community, unity or common courtesy anymore.
OsBaculum@reddit
If I were a foreigner, I'd be pretty jaded and angry right now. Y'know, because of the racism. We invite them in, pay them peanuts, work them to the bone, then turn around and blame them for all our problems. Call them criminals. Rapists. "Like animals." "They're eating the cats, they're eating the dogs." Kill them, tear their families apart, and ship them out to dangerous countries they're not even from. All while half the country howls with glee.
"No community?" Oh REALLY.
"Unity?" WONDER WHY.
"Common courtesy?" Pot, meet kettle.
Huh. Turns out I'm angry too.
translinguistic@reddit
For people who take that view, I would ask that they imagine someone telling them that your Irish great great ... greatparents should've never been let off the boat.
OsBaculum@reddit
Yeah the Irish, Italians and Poles of this country need to remember that they weren't even considered white until the early 20th century. Racism isn't about facts, it's about scapegoats.
translinguistic@reddit
Inequity is at the heart of all of this and pretty much everything else that's wrong with modern human history and the present. It's a really impossible problem at this point... we can't exactly solve our societal problems with a Big Fuckin' Rock (TM) like our ape ancestors used to do.
The literal demons living among us manufacture reasons to believe that people who don't exactly look and smell like you are the real enemy, even though all they hope for is the same kind of happy life you want for yourself and your family.
cowstaringattrain@reddit
Complains about having no community and immediately alienates people in that community.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
You're ignorant too pal.
cowstaringattrain@reddit
We're all ignorant about something. If you're talking statistically, all of us are mostly ignorant when it comes to the total amount of knowledge in the universe, but in this case, no. I'm not ignorant. We're all out here doing this job and I've seen just as many good 'ole boys blocking fuel islands and parking people in.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
I didn't say it was just foreigners buddy, I said jaded truck drivers as well. You honed in on the foreigners part and came after me for that and said you've seen "good ole boys" block fuel islands too like I didn't mention the jaded truck drivers part. So yes. In this case. I'd say that's pretty ignorant.
cowstaringattrain@reddit
You sound pretty jaded to me.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
I'm just a realist, maybe a little jaded. If we met in person I'd buy you a drink and I'd love to talk about how the world goes and laugh about it. At the end everything's just made up and a game right, life's too short to get strung up on the little things. Stay safe out there driver, keep the rubber side down.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
And he's only 2 years in! 🤣 He needs a nice quiet office job where everyone talks politely and then stabs you in the back at the water cooler.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Downvote me all you want, you know I'm right.
Eastern_Pin_5567@reddit
You’re dead fucking wrong. We’re a nation of immigrants and always will be.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
No fucking shit you ignorant twat. My family immigrated here, so did my Wife's family. It's certain groups of people coming here that are destroying this country and treating it like their own 3rd world pos country. And no that's not racism you liberal fuck.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Identity these "certain groups"
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Just the 3rd worlders and pos people coming here, doesn't matter their skin color buddy, it's not a race thing. We've got people like this born in America that are pos that treat America the same way, but it's gotten a lot worse.
Look at India, they completely trash their country, look at what the majority of them do when they come here, they throw trash everywhere because it's a part of their culture. It's not a racist thing to state a fact. I've met good people from India but the majority aren't valuable to America nor want to assimilate, just like other 3rd world cultures.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Microsoft, Google and FedEx are all led by Indians. Many hotels and motels are run by Indians. Many restaurants are run by Indians. Lumping an entire group together is crazy work, my man. The same could be said about the people of Appalachia, if you didn't know any better.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
I didn't say it was all Indians buddy, I even said I've met good Indians, just like I've met good Africans, Russians, Japanese, Chinese, etc. I was giving you an example about the cultures that trash this country, it's other cultures too, not just Indians. I didn't lump an entire group together, you're being ignorant to what I said or it flew right over your head.
You're not being open minded or having a discussion with me, you're just looking for reasons to say I'm in the wrong is what this feels like. You seem like an emotional defensive person too, not a logical one.
If you want to be close minded then so be it, but when this country is run into the ground not just because of the 3rd worlders, but our greedy politicians and rich people alike as well, and people are clueless as to what happened, you will be in the same boat as them.
Close minded people like you won't do what is necessary to protect their homeland or make it better, like how Japan and Poland are, including the Brits who are protesting the immigrants who are destroying their country.
Close minded people like you will defend the very people who seek to hurt you and wonder why they didn't want to be your friend, just like the couple who lived in la la land and went to Afghanistan thinking they'd be welcomed with open arms only to be killed.
Wake up you blind sheep, there is a great change ahead and you are the type of person who the government loves because you are doing exactly what they want you to.
I hope you wake up one day from your clouded brainwashed mind, as well as the rest of America. I only want everyone to be unified regardless of race, sex, skin color, etc. in this country and to take our country back.
If this never happens, then all is lost and we will all be sheep, cattle and slaves for the government to control who live in fear of the government.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
9 years military. How many you got? Don't come at me with that bullshit fake patriot shit
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Like I said, emotional. I was like you after I got out. Angry and irrational. It's not fake patriot bullshit. Why bring the military into this. 3 years military myself, got out because my leadership let me down after some serious events, got raped after said events, while in service, while almost blackout drunk and that fucked me up completely, felt like a weak failure of a man even though I couldn't physically defend myself because I was so out of it, just couldn't get over it, otherwise I'd still be in and lusting for blood and a pawn of the government. That's off topic though, not looking for pity or try to get you to feel bad for me, just being bluntly honest.
I'm buddies with combat vets and non combat vets from different branches and they all feel the same way as me and that all wars have been bullshit and that our politicians are bullshit and that the system is in need of a reset. I do have a buddy who's still in and almost at retirement who still wants to kill middle easterners who won't see reason because he's jaded by war and violence and his buddies being killed.
I am pro America, immigration and for the people amongst other things as well. I am against our government, corruption and what's going on in this country, etc. Are you not the same?
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Am I the same as you? No.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Of course you're not the same as me but that wasn't the question. I asked if you care about the best interests of America and it's people.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
I do not subscribe to any political party. I'm more along the lines of an anarchist philosophy. Having said that, the country gets what it deserves. It's nothing deeper than that, and I'm not going to worry myself with the constant scare tactics of people telling me we're facing imminent doom. C'est La Vie. If it falls, it falls.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
I don't align with politcal parties either, I'm just pro American. I'm not trying to be preachy and use scare tactics, I guess it's coming off that way though.
I'm just stating what I feel are to be facts, but I'm willing to be proven wrong if you are willing to tell me why I am wrong with facts, I am open minded and willing to listen and have a civil discussion.
Lol fair enough, can't argue with how you feel about things, if that's how you feel, it's understandable.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Your last sentence is exactly what was said about the Italians, Irish and Polish immigrants in the early 20th century
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
I'm not against foreigners as long as they want to genuinely be Americans, I just don't want foreigners that won't assimilate and treat this country like trash and that's happening more and more over the years.
trucksarekewl@reddit
Still blaming foreigners for your problems huh
theboywthagreenscarf@reddit
If not then he’d have to look inward. Can’t have that now can we!
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
You're an ignorant twat too you brainwashed soy boy.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
You're an ignorant closed minded twat too buddy. I'm pro American, I have white, black and mexican family. My family immigrated here and so did my Wife's. When I say foreigners I'm talking about the one's from trash 3rd world countries that treat America like their trashed uncivilized home. Any foreigner that comes here is welcome as long as they assimilate and care about this country.
GumboPosts@reddit
I see a lot of foreigners take so much of the blame, but they are usually the courteous drivers.
I was in a construction zone, going the speed limit, and this semi races up to my side. I look out my window and it's this white old guy shouting through his window at me and flipping me off. After he had is little temper tantrum, he went blasting through that construction zone at like 80 mph.
Another time it was a Walmart truck. I was passing someone bobtail, so I was going pretty quick. This Walmart truck rides up on me flashing his lights like a mad man. I completed that pass in maybe 2 seconds. He rides up to me and proceeded to swipe at my truck with his trailer. Guess what? Not a foreigner, another white dude.
And the last major road rage incident to happen to me was someone got pissy, because they had to wait like 4 seconds for me to finish a pass. So when he started to pass me up he flipped me off and proceeded to side swipe my truck just enough to catch the mirror and sped off. Yet another angry older white man.
I had foreigners sit behind me while they waited a solid minute for me to pass, and they just drive off when I get over. Nothing happens.
It's really weird. All my issues in the road have been 0% foreigners.
theboywthagreenscarf@reddit
Yea but if they can’t blame the foreigners, how will they paint themselves as victims? They could blame the actual problem (the rich) but they’d rather not think and believe in propaganda.
GumboPosts@reddit
It's worse when they are foreign themselves, and then cry on the news when they eventually get deported by the party they voted for.
As one lady sobbing about her husband being deported once said, "But he was such a hard worker, I didn't think they would go after him." Every time.
What they think of other fellow immigrants is exactly what somebody else thinks of them. It would be great if there was more self reflection going on.
If anyone is tearing this country apart, in the most literal sense, it's the corporations and their lack of accountability. Mainstream media is their vehicle for conveniencing Americans it's actually themselves who are tearing this country apart.
AirborneRam@reddit
You think truckers would be a tight community. I am amazed hardly anyone speaks to each other out there. Nothing would make me happier than to see guys/gals having a cookout at a truck stop or rest area swapping stories and helping each other out....but there is no community at all.
Yeti_Funk@reddit
I definitely plan on having a grill on my rig and then inviting anyone over for some eats. Be the change you want to see in the world.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Completely agree, this is a great idea
spyder7723@reddit
"Nothing would make me happier than to see guys/gals having a cookout at a truck stop or rest area"
That's a rather common thing still.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
That would be nice.
RobsHereAgain@reddit
Ahh there’s the racism we knew would be in this thread. Gotta let go of that racism bud. It’ll get ya know where in the end.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
It's not racism you dumb fuck. Is Japan racist for not wanting muslims? Is Poland racist for not wanting foreginers in the country? I'm part black, white and Mexican so shut your ignorant bitch ass up.
JamFD3S@reddit
I know the economy sucks and people have bills to pay so withholding your labor isn’t always easy but this only changes when us the working class take a stand, I did 3 trucking jobs before I got my current gig and those 3 were all either pay by mile or pay by load, now I’m hourly and will never go back. I can sit in the right lane and do the exact speed limit or sit in traffic and know I’m always getting paid no matter how many deranged 4 wheelers cut me off or how many Chicago traffic jams I gotta sit through. It completely rewires your brain and I am sooo much happier, relaxed, and less negative towards other on the road now. EVERY TRUCKING JOB SHOULD BE HOURLY BY LAW, but nothing will change if we don’t make it change.
Say_In_Do@reddit
Percentage of the gross is the way.
JamFD3S@reddit
Nah I’m good, tried that twice both times it was a scam. Hourly pay or own your own trucks is the only way.
DreamsServedSoft@reddit
cool sentiment but doesn’t work when a certain party is more than happy to flood the country with people who will work for half because it’s 15x what they could ever make back home
BillBonn@reddit
Talking about the "two party system" in the United States? You Americans actually still believe that?
Oh shit...
JamFD3S@reddit
Nah its mainly the only the older generations that believe those fairytales anymore most young people are waking up or have been awoken to the truth of the system since we were raised witnessing teh corruption for the entirety of our lives so far.
ChemicalWriting6225@reddit
I mean you wouldn’t believe the brainwashed shit Americans believe, first is they honestly believe the peasants of America have a voice and a choice, they think elections are the will of the people. Most still believe in sky ghosts and apparently being a pedo is extremely common.
Filamcouple@reddit
Yep, two wings on the same bird.
Classicticket94@reddit
This guy had his CDL for 2 years and finally realized what the problem is. Thanks for waking up. Some drivers are still going as fast as they can because the truck is governed. That hate he/she is talking about is going to make someone unsafe to be around. And Some trucking companies pay good if you work your way up to it, everybody knows that.
Now Fuel islands are the place where new drivers make mistakes if you let them rush you. So hold your horses because you’re not going to move someone else’s truck for them.
18SpeedKenworth@reddit
you crying in the truck again?
crooksFTW@reddit
One more parking space opened up
DeeDubb24@reddit
A grown man said “ugh” lol. This guy definitely responds with “k” in texts also
Legitimate_Tip_9369@reddit
There are about 2 million truck drivers and you talk this crazy about the hundredth of 1 percent of them you've come in contact with? You have a great future as an Amazon cargo van driver.
freeshivacido@reddit
Maybe it's all the h1b visas. If you watch some of the driving over there on youtube you will realize that they actually ARE driving on their best behavior over here. It's just still not good enough I'd guess.
Lupin_The_Fourth@reddit
Trucking industry is filled with the lowest common denominator. I left the industry years ago.
SaltyyFries@reddit
The fuel island thing has gotten substantially worse. Constantly seeing drivers have to back out cause the truck in front was sitting for too long.
DaSaw@reddit
I never back out. I always report this shit.
One time (I wasn't the one that reported) in the Pilot in Evanston WY, I was pleased by the sight of a store manager berating a driver that kept trying to buy something, and she just kept yelling at him that he needed to move his truck out of the fuel island.
We've got drivers that just don't know the rules. A few weeks ago, at the Loves in Wells, NV, I was on my way in to report a driver that had been there a while when I arrived, and was still there several minutes after I'd finished. I caught the driver on his way out, and said, "You spent too long in there." He just said, "Just back out." These people don't know, don't care, and won't change until we impose some consequences on them.
ghostedbydefault@reddit
I've had a number of drivers throw a fit after pulling up behind me and waiting less than 5 minutes. (Often there would be 5 to 10 open pumps too) The shitty behavior all around makes it hard to care anymore. I try to follow a rule of no more than 15min at the pump, and 15 min ahead of the pump. And generally I'll pull into a spot if theres enough space and I want my 30 minute break. But a lot of drivers seem to think that they are the center of the universe these days
supertrucker@reddit
The eastbound pilot is a shit show in Evanston. We always go to the west Flying J and it's way less trucks. It's about 1 mile to the north.
InvstrJester@reddit
It’s a hassle and time consuming looking for a parking spot if you can find one just to go into a store and get a burger real quick. I know the struggle and don’t reallly gaf. I just plan to top off fuel whenever I see a station that’s not crowded instead of waiting until I don’t have enough fuel to try another spot up the road
BaseballDue9043@reddit
So your one of the dirtbags that's part of the problem! Get your fuel and get TF out the way. Go park and then get your lil sammy.
InvstrJester@reddit
I don’t speak for people who take a 30 minute break at the fuel island. If I’m pressed for time I’m not gonna wait until I’m out of gas to look for somewhere to stop so I have to be at the overcrowded truck stop mad at the world
beenznchiz@reddit
Who's complaining now? Like you don't know you're going to want food during the day? Pack a lunch instead of whining and making excuses.
InvstrJester@reddit
You know people don’t pack a lunch everyday. That’s bullshit
DaSaw@reddit
The only thing you should be doing while parked at the fuel island is grabbing your receipt, or taking a piss, or maybe grabbing a bag of chips. You gotta take a shit, or you want to order food, go park. The rest of us manage it just fine.
Icy-Efficiency4105@reddit
Refilling/topping off the coffee cup after fueling the truck... This is one I'm guilty of. But, if the line has more than 3 people I just set a couple bucks on the counter or get told not to worry about as I'm reaching for my wallet 🤷♂️ so generally faster than the guy getting a fuel receipt lol
DaSaw@reddit
Eh, that doesn't sound any worse than grabbing a bag of chips. Anything that's going to take less than eight minutes or so.
InvstrJester@reddit
Eight minutes ? How do you know somebody wants to wait eight minutes for YOU ?
InvstrJester@reddit
Yeah. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing. Just matters how long it takes. What I’ve learned is that I will not wait for too long and I’ll just walk out of the store for now on. I wasn’t blocking anybody but, I didn’t wanna be parked there for a long time. I just avoid slow fast food places
InvstrJester@reddit
No you don’t. A lot of people order food. Should take as long as grabbing a bag of chips. Ain’t nobody taking a shit
BaseballDue9043@reddit
Indeed it is getting worse! Was at the TA in Baytown,TX yesterday and a flatbed driver literally parked at the island for his 10! Curtains closed truck running! Dude was still there when I rolled out at 8am...
Metro4050@reddit
If you time it just right, even during the day, between waiting to pull up to the pump, actually fueling (especially if you pull reefer like I did), and pulling forward to the line to buy some snacks, you'll hit your 30 every time without fucking up someone's day. I usually drove nights so most times the pumps were empty anyway and you could fuel and run out your 30 right at the pump. The Loves in East St. Louis was great for a middle of the night 30s/fueling. Hell, most of the newer Loves aren't busy at night.
MedicalReputation895@reddit
If I need a 30 I find a lane with one or 2 trucks waiting to fuel. I know by the time I fuel then pull up, walk inside to use the bathroom and get my coffee, I will have it in.
Q7017@reddit
It really has. I started in 2010 and the chains weren't nearly as bad then as they are now. I avoid them and fuel almost exclusively at cardlocks now.
Frito_Penndejo@reddit
Had to back out the other night because this douche took his 30 after pulling forward.
Requettie@reddit
yeah i back out of the fuel lanes now lol
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
Had a guy just turn his hazard lights on. I banged on the door and no one came to the door. I was in a rush and didn't feel like getting the store emloyees but people are just becoming self centered trash now.
Horchata415@reddit
Our brains are wired to create our reality from the things we have decided to notice. Yes, it’s always something in this industry. But if you decide you’re gonna have a bad day, you will; it’s just how our brains work. Try saying positive things out loud in the morning, like “universe, show me how good things can get today” or “the matrix is constantly glitching in my favor” and see what happens
onlyBotsdownvote-me@reddit
I do not understand the grammar of this sentence. Can someone pls diagram this, like we used to do in English class? What is a left lane whelp?
VenaticGnu60@reddit
Read it with a comma/question mark however you'd prefer to punctuate "trucks use left lane? Whelp, why not rush in right"
Q7017@reddit
I was curious myself. A truck in the left lane isn't wrong or bad, by itself.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
It's his own language
Double-Revolution-33@reddit
Welcome to the party, pal.
Flowing_North@reddit
Congress could fix the fuel island issue. Pass legislation implementing Pilot and Loves parking lots as exempt from assault and battery prosecution as long as the injuries don't result in death.
Think_Bear_3791@reddit
I feel this 100%, bad enough we’ve got everything else working against us we can’t even have camaraderie with our fellow truckers unless it’s centered around something negative smh. I’m looking for an exit strategy as well
Lower-Development-58@reddit
The types of things you're describing are becoming more and more commonplace in all areas of life, not just trucking. Everyone (present company excluded, of course) is becoming more awful.
Old-Wolf-1024@reddit
You are not wrong. If I wasn’t home every day and had to run more interstate than I do,I would probably be incarcerated.
The biggest change I see is all the fucking idiot ass trucks/drivers upside down in the ditch!!!! I have been at this for 28 years and ain’t NEVER seen so many fools in the ditch.
TurbulentMoney1773@reddit
CDL drivers are not different than 4 wheelers on the road ….. don’t use cruise control no courtesy or common sense. Will cut you off when you go to pass fully loaded. I’ll literally saw a truck get pulled over in front of me last week for being in the left lane on a 3 lane highway because slow trucks just want to hog the middle lane at 4 am with light traffic. Going through Chicago, indiana traffic is making me hate my job
KoalaOfTheApocalypse@reddit
Having to drive through places like Chicago and other traffic crazy cities is one of the biggest deterrents to me from driving a truck. I have no desire to drive in some of those places in a normal car, let alone a truck.
FloridaRon@reddit
Do truckers still pull up over a truck length after fueling while they pay the bill and pick up some snacks or are they actually leaving it at the fuel island?
Virel_360@reddit
It’s all right, we hate you too. Turnabouts Fairplay.
LuckyLystrosaurus@reddit
Yes truckers are terrible
4 more months and I'm fucking outta this bullshit industry
Pam_P00vey@reddit
Too many their world ppl taking our jobs and making things worse, not just pay, but fuel stations, safely ???? Sharing the road... All that you mentioned above.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
Well, that escalated quickly!
rigjiggles@reddit
Yeah this guy needs professional help asap. It’s just a job man. He needs to relax. I’ve been doing it 8 years and can’t say I’ve ever felt that way once. And I drive through Chicago every night.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
I'd like to see how rowdy he would get running North East. He would lose his shit with the nonsense I see everyday on I95 around DC, Baltimore and Jersey. Right lane and chill!!!!
Puzzled_Rip_3739@reddit
Exactly! I drive in Altanta all day. Nothing bothers me anymore lol
Perfect_Brilliant_48@reddit
These the type of people who just want to have bad attitudes. I understand what he’s saying tho. I just simply wait or back up from the fuel isles if there’s room. The illegally parked guys also get annoying when you’re pulling into a loves at 3am and half the entrance is blocked but it’s whatever. As long as I got room to go in and out.
rigjiggles@reddit
I get it’s an inconvenience. Absolutely. But to let it bother you this much is unhealthy. People need mental help.

Good to vent, yeah I did 5 years OTR and my biggest complaint was always other Truckers. The greater majority are trash human beings without a thought for others. I went to local Foodservice and I never looked back, none of the dehumanizing bullshit of OTR for twice the pay and good exercise and good endorphins and you don’t sit on your ass for 14 hours and you get to take your frustrations out on the freight. Look for greener pastures my friend, they are out there.

cdubose@reddit
I mean, that's who you would expect to be parked illegally. The people who stopped at 3am had no more parking left, and they're still doing their 10 hours at 10am
Metro4050@reddit
Yeah, at the larger Loves they have a lot of concrete real estate for creative parking, even late and there were times I'd park there at 0300 with trucks all around me and wake up looking like an idiot because now I'm just in a random spot in the middle of the day with people driving around me.
MacandMandy69@reddit
This is why I advise people to avoid becoming a Trucker at all costs. It just plain SUCKS.
genocyde26008219@reddit
Only thing that chaps my ass is when cunts (even other truckers) try to pass on the right. Then get butthurt they get stuck behind the western express guy I was passing. Patience goes a long way.
Zodi88@reddit
I pass so many trucks on the right every shift. These CDL mills must be teaching drivers to ride the middle even if it's 2am in bumfuck Egypt.
genocyde26008219@reddit
My experiences happen in the afternoon or morning usually as I don’t drive after 10-11pm. But it’s frustrating bc I know they see me get in the left lane to pass slow poke Jones and yet they try to pass me on the right. Then I’m the asshole cuz I look over at them, shake my head and laugh bc they’re there now since there’s a convoy of four wheelers behind me.

I have to be active during the day for my stops. I wish i could drive at night only. Reddit would kill me over my commentary on fuel island shenanigans.
FlamedPrince@reddit
There definitely can be improvements in driver behavior but it's apart of the game. Any industry you go to will have people that don't follow the rules and do what they want. If you want a reason to hate, there will be 1 billion opportunities everyday and everywhere. Work on your own emotions and stop letting others control you.
Icy_Consideration51@reddit
You should've known, limp biscuit announced decades ago that everything is fucked and everybody sucks. They weren't lying.
Socketz11@reddit
For someone only 2 years in, to even notice these issues is surprising. Its been this way for 10+ years. I have a few decades, and I have just accepted it as a generational change. 15+ years ago the pump situation was never like this, drivers almost never parked at the isles and almost everyone used the pull up lanes like it was a law. Basically I accept all the bullshit because my mentality is no expectations, no disappointments. Whenever I pass, I already know they will be speeding up alongside me to block 2 lanes. 4 wheelers are like cats or toddlers, you never know what they are about to do. Expect the worst, anticipate the lack of etiquette, and human decency from everyone and you will begin to relax.
beardedbaby2@reddit
Thank God you're perfect. 😐🤣
I'm sure some of the truckers here suck, but not all of them. Sorry it's been rough the last couple years, hope you find something that works better for you. It sucks to hate your job.
kickniteasy@reddit
IMO pay has a lot to do with it. Companies offering less than Wendys wages and then wondering why there's a "driver shortage" and what you do end up with is the type of person that hates life because they're gone from home 11 months a year making $50k so they're all out of shits to give. You get what you pay for and trucking in general is trying to pay as little as possible.
ShoddySpace5680@reddit
Literally what I make 😆
AgapeAnus@reddit
It's this. Company I got started out with hired bottom of the barrel idiots for the most part, paid them like trash, then acted surprised when they heard from the company I had applied with and acted like I'd fucked their dog for even doing it. Nobody gives a fuck from the top down anymore and self driving trucks will replace most of us in 5-10 years any goddamn way.
ShoddySpace5680@reddit
Same here I’m about to hit two years and I can’t take it anymore.
FishermansPlatter@reddit
Biggest bunch of assholes out there-
mwonch@reddit
I see the same things as you. It irritates me, at times seemingly to no end. But...ya gotta know, there is nothing you can do about it. That's a fact. Swallow the emotions and just deal with it. Besides, you can't be implying that these things are the worst things you've ever experienced, right? If not, breathe and relax when these things happen. If so, you need to get out more and see truckers are not the only ones doing these things.
Cars do it. Try to pass, suddenly they find more speed...until you pull in behind them again. Rinse, repeat. I see cars and pickups taking up fuel lanes in their area every single day. The drivers fill then head into the store, not moving their car until they feel like it (even if there are others obviously waiting for that spot). I see cars/pickups nearly every day parking where they shouldn't (even with big signs forbidding it) just so they can walk 5 steps fewer to get to the facility door. Come on, you see this, as well. Right?
bourbonpens@reddit
It’s rough out there but try to be a better person than them. Your blood pressure Will thank you.
GTChev01@reddit
Stupid is in every race dude dont give them the power to mess up your day! Yell at them and move on with your day!
fredbear1964@reddit
People need to understand, regardless of race, color, or creed. Some people were raised selfish, entitled, rude, always beat the other guy, be first, no matter what. And others were raised to be kind, patient, and forgiving . This will always be. And it applies to all truck drivers as well. And we have to deal with them no matter when or where they affect you. After 29 years out here. I just smile and move on. It isn't worth your peace of mind to drive pissed an angry all day at someone who could care less if they killed you or not . Get a fast truck with some horsepower and get in front of them, and then slow roll their ass for a while and smile doing it ! Nothing I like more than one of these jerk offs than watching them hitting the berm on either side flashing the lights all passed off, and after a little bit pulled away smiling 😃 😊 🙂!
GTChev01@reddit
I wish I could do that im regulated to 60mph. I do love when I can return a little karma in the slower zones though! Especially when they suddenly go from speedy gonzalez to goody tooshoo and I only have to drop 3 to 5 mph! 🤣🤣🤣
Affectionate_Cow7167@reddit
I stop to put fuel and clean my windows from all these bugs another driver pull behind me he exit his truck and start complaining why I was taking long , I told him don’t you see I’m still pumping diesel why don’t you complain to the other 4 driver next me not in their truck just blocking the fuel island for no reason when the truck stop is full of parking at these time, he then even got mad when I have to pull forward and fuel the reefer 😂.
External_Result_8560@reddit
Lol that reefer move. Like that gif of the guy running around with a bucket on his head that’s gets taken off only to reveal another bucket
lilbittygoddamnman@reddit
haha, I love that gif. I'm going to look it up now because you mentioned it.
1Stack_Mack@reddit
If the guy in front of me is pulling a reefer, I just automatically assume he's gonna fill that tank also. Someone getting pissed about that is crazy. Do they think it runs off the main tanks? Next time, pump it REAL slow, just for shits and giggles.
Northwest_Radio@reddit
It wasn't too many years ago that every driver on the road has a psychological pacifier called the CB radio. I think this poster needs one of those. Needs to understand that it's there for entertainment purposes.
grizzo502@reddit
Local work home everyday, I dunno what half of this complaining is even about...what's a fuel line ?? Lol
dfal55@reddit
Local and home is cool til you realize you “work” more than a regional driver, and still somehow out of the house longer
RichCypher@reddit
From pulling out of my garage in the morning to pulling back in at night is just over 8 hours on average and I make more than most otr drivers. I build my set, drive to a meet, drive back, break my set, fuel, park, drive home. Sleep in my king sized bed every night and have every weekend off. Show me a regional job that can compare.
dfal55@reddit
Yeah great but how much do you make? Otr isn’t hard to beat. I’m a regional guy and my vacation rate is 44/hr. Ur not making that without overtime
grizzo502@reddit
4 nights a week I set my own hours being food service. Y'all not wanting to work is your problem. At work by 9pm home by 530am.

Super trucker in the house!!
truckensafely@reddit
Every trucker complains & I see every trucker does the same🤣
Dapper-Advance808@reddit
This why I refuse to be in a truck that cannot go over 75, 75 you just pass most people and it makes OTR bareable. Most times I just cruise at 72 and that’s my comfort speed, yeah it’s not the most fuel efficient as an O/O but I don’t mind sacrificing a little fuel to keep my sanity. The irritating thing are the foreigners with no sense of human decency or professionalism for the business. Sitting in the fuel lanes, have your foot on the dash, washing your nasty ass feet in the sink, taking a water bottle in the shitter to wash your ass, walking around in flip flops. Every year that goes by the industry is getting flooded with more and more foreigners that don’t learn nor want to learn proper American etiquette.
HopeItMakesYaThink@reddit
Many newer truckers are not trained as well as previous generations. Then again, previous generations of truckers heavily abused drugs. Most new truckers are held to far more strict logging rules. Then again, older truckers used to run two books at a time. New truckers don’t care about anyone but themselves. Oddly enough, truck crime has risen steadily with the influx of new truckers and the fear mongering is stronger than ever. Left lane was the hammer lane until regulated trucks became the norm.
All in all, trucking always sucked in one way or another. Nostalgia and new issues simply filled the ache of older issues. Trucking has always been bad.
Drive a bus if a truck is too much for you. Or become a yard jockey. Heck, become a trucking instructor. Just don’t think your complaining is going to fix it - might as well eat beans from a can and hope the aroma blowing out your backside will leave your truck minty fresh.
BillBonn@reddit
This self-admitted weak ass racist would NEVER be able to handle that!
He crashing out over this? While by himself in a truck? Boy he'll end it all of he ever became a bus driver for a transit authority... Think about it...
HopeItMakesYaThink@reddit
Had to read that again. This person is a weak little racist. Crazy how I went right past that.
You’re right, bud driving would be a special level of hell for this person. And the passengers don’t deserve that.
BillBonn@reddit
Tell me you're a weak ass whiny baby with a weak mentality, without saying you're a big weakling whiny baby with a weak mentally:

Get out of the industry. It's chewing you up and spitting you out dude. Seriously, the money ain't worth it if you're battling this much anger on the daily.
This industry is a shit show and all I can say is to be the change you want to see but if it's too much to cope with then you need to seek peace elsewhere before the darkness consumes you.
Best of luck. The world is in shambles. Pick your poison!

And other drivers think it's strange that I "don't know anybody" in my company.
Truckers suck. I get my paperwork, grab my trailer and GTFO. Even truck stops I only go inside to shit shower shave, and maybe grab grub to bring back to the truck.
Most of us are insufferable. I'd rather be alone in my truck than chat with 95% of the drivers out there.
Snappypants9@reddit
You gotta drive for you bro - if you can’t handle the reality of the road - you should find a different job.
Iwytsmd7@reddit
Next time you crash out can it be in video form? I like to see the tears while I shed tears of laughter 😂
I’ll be real with you though, there will always be shitty truckers and good truckers. Just do what you can to be one of the good ones, don’t let the hate make you become part of the problem. In the last 12 years I have learned to just let shit go, I reserve no space for it in my mind and emotions. No amount of anger or hatred makes anything better, in trucking or in life.
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
I'll catch a beating for saying this but if your disdain arises from behavior/professional characteristics you're not being racist/bigoted.You aren't coming to hate a percentage of drivers because they're black or brown. You hate them because they're unskilled, disrespectful, arrogant, suppress your pay &c: all good reasons to develop negative feelings about people. I suspect you would feel the exact same way about American drivers who suck this hard too.
Don't get down on yourself. All you can do is drive your own truck. Letting the shit-asses get your goat just gives them the power. Do the job but do it better. Be more mindful. Be more considerate. Be more focused on the long game.
This job can eat you alive but only if you let it.
AsphaltPirate74@reddit
I agree with this. Nice to see someone else who is open minded with intellect, unfortunately a lot of redditors will scream racism towards your comment regardless
TruckerBiscuit@reddit
I'm prepared for the SJWs to assume I'm full of shit. Fuck 'em.
Alas for us, truckers don't get the luxury of fantastical living. We dwell only in the reality; in the physical now. We trust the things we see because our lives are the farthest thing imaginable from theoretical navel-gazing.
Carry on compadre!

The nice part about trucking is that you are the captain of your ship in effect. You can’t let others control your attitude. Don’t give them that power.
Yea you’re going to see some stuff that irritates you. You can either let it slide or if you have the opportunity to educate the driver(they may not realize their poor etiquette) or you can do what you’re doing now and let their behavior control your decisions and outcomes.
I ride motorcycle quite a bit as probably a bunch of drivers do. One of the rules of riding is to ride your ride.
Successful-Spinach38@reddit
One should not be driving even a 4wheeled car with such an attitude
bmf1989@reddit
The only person you can control is you, and you need to get ahold of your emotions or maybe take some time away from the job. A “fuck everybody” attitude is just going to turn you into another liability out on the road eventually
