If anyone is wondering, I was also confused why this was happening in Spain.
Turns out these are autonomous right wing basque police. Not controlled directly by the Spanish central government. Would make sense why this vichy Spain police is acting like German police.
Socraman@reddit
Right wing basque police? Wtf does that even mean? This is the regular Basque police, and if you talk about the Basque government it's in a coalition between the mostly center right Basque Nationalist Party and the Socialist Party (the same socialist party in control of the Spanish central government).
Davidat0r@reddit
A ver, por ponerlo de esta manera: digamos que la Ertzaintza lleva las porras de hierro colado si la manifestación es de izquierdas
blueNgoldWarrior@reddit
Sounds like you just want to argue without having a counter point.
You’ve just confirmed this is an autonomous police force of Basque like I said. Beyond police just being brutal and repressive police as they tend to be, this police force is more right wing than the one of the central government.
The Pedro Sanchez government has espoused solidarity with victims. This police force seems to harbor different interests and under different influence than the central government.
Socraman@reddit
You're saying that the Basque police is more right wing than CNP or GC that depend on the Spanish government?
Either you're an ignorant of Spanish politics or you're straight up lying. CNP has Jusapol that is enmeshed with Desokupa (the organization made by neonazis) and Guardia Civil is part of the military and even had a Lieutenant Colonel participating ina coup d'Etat 40 years ago, and is been infamous for torturing some detainees.
Not saying that Ertzaintza is progressive, as I said ACAB, but wanting to paint them as specially right wing is at best disingenuous.
Prestigious_Task7175@reddit
Activists were clogging the airport, you know, an already very busy and chaotic place.
All cool with them, next time they can go celebrate their operation outside, and not disturb the order of everyone else.
NeoLephty@reddit
That’s how you make protests effective. Move them to where they don’t have any impact. Genius.
mckant@reddit
Oh goodness! They were clogging the airport!
hektordingding@reddit
So they beat them? Wtf?
eggplantpot@reddit
You say that as if most police officers in Spain weren’t fascist pigs
Socraman@reddit
Of course ACAB but the Ertzaintza is not more right wing than any other police force. So calling it right wing basque police is either useless or confusing.
eggplantpot@reddit
De acuerdo, era un pleonasmo
Best_Change4155@reddit
If you don't let the activists I like break the rules, you are right-wing.
keepthepace@reddit
Quite frankly, I doubt this has anything about them being Basque, but more about being immigration police. In many countries, immigration departments attract the most fascist and the most anti-immigrant members of the police.
usesidedoor@reddit
You typically don't have so much security at the airport on a regular day in Bilbao, and these duties are often shared with private security agencies.
These people look like regular cops - but Basque, the Ertzaintza - who were deployed to the airport because that was not a normal day.
Herr_Tilke@reddit
This is entirely irrelevant, but I've never heard mention of the Basque autonomous police in this context. Is it a right wing faction largely divorced from the PNV or are they responsible for carrying out the wishes of the Basque nationalist movement? Sorry if this is opening a can of worms
Socraman@reddit
It's not a weird political arm or anything, it's just the integral police for the Basque Country. Nothing else. They obey the law, the courts, and the Basque government (whomever sits there), in this order.
Their main reason for existing is to have a police that is able to speak Basque and that will be made by Basques, that will understand the legal and cultural particularities of the Basque Country.
Spain has 3 regions with regional police: Basque Country, Navarre and Catalonia. They have different degrees of power according to the laws. I think Canary Islands also has a similar police although it's smaller in size.
RoostasTowel@reddit
Looking it up it seems no different than my country with has a national police force but also bigger cities and regions will have their own police force.
The national system is so that small towns dont need to fund all the training and hiring of police.
I dont think its weird that the barcelona region has their own local police.
kolitics@reddit
That or the activists just appear to have gotten aggressive when told they couldn’t block the airport terminal. https://youtu.be/F77rc26cayM?si=IDMNiz5CjeMl_Uqj
MoltenCopperEnema@reddit
If you cause trouble for the police in ANY country you're going to get beaten. Specially if you do it at an airport, or on the warship where you're being detained. I find it hard to believe anything these activists are saying about their treatment in Israel when this is how they behave in Spain. It's so obvious they went looking for a fight and found one.
brydeswhale@reddit
Just so everyone knows, these are the types of people the rest of us in Canada have to live with.
_tobias15_@reddit
Back in the day people could share countries even though they had different political opinions on incredibly complicated and nuanced topics.
pimmen89@reddit
Back in the day people knew that genocide is incredibly bad, not particularly bad or nuanced.
TommyTwoNips@reddit
lol
Genocide isn't nuanced or complicated, you're all just bad people.
DaniBoye@reddit
U must b so virtuous Reddit man
TommyTwoNips@reddit
well I'm not actively ethnically cleansing my neighbors and stealing their homes.
It's not hard to not be a nazi. Y'all just struggle with that because you have weak character.
chatte__lunatique@reddit
Back in the day, our ancestors fought a war against the fascists. But maybe the Blitz was just a particularly spirited debate to you?
GrahminRadarin@reddit
Yeah, kinda hard to do that when the people with different political opinions want to kill me.
SatisfactionDry3038@reddit
That is antisemitic
Kaleidoscope9498@reddit
This is moronic, theres was no evidence befohand that the person they were referring to was Jewish, still there's none, even if there was it would still no be antisemitic.
You people, morons like you, not Jews is general, cry "antisemitism" about anything that it becomes hard to take it seriously.
brydeswhale@reddit
So sad when hasbara agents don’t get Saturday off.
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Hey Hitler Jr, did you forget the video that the dude from Israel posted that proves and show what the activist said?
HockeyHocki@reddit
The activists claimed they were beaten and raped, link the video proving it
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
You mean the video they show they kneeling beaten? Are you going to move the goal to an actual rape video Adolf Jr?
HockeyHocki@reddit
Move the goal? You said their was video proof of what the activist said you donkey. Link the videos
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
https://www.instagram.com/reels/DYm4viXCfyz/
You can literally see their faces bruised and after the piece of shit appear waving the flag the first time theres a shot of a soldier hitting the detained guy ON CAMERA.
Now you want a rape video or its fake adolf jr?
HockeyHocki@reddit
Thats your video evidence, people bent over and handcuffed?
Are you taking the piss or did you link the wrong video?
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
You mean the video that shows people handcuffed with bruises? The same video that shows a soldier beating one of them ON CAMERA?
HockeyHocki@reddit
wtf do you think those pictures show? there's one guy that looks like he got a bit too much sun🤣
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Yes, sun that only burn 2 specific points in the skin.
HockeyHocki@reddit
That's seriously your video evidence? So you were just taking the piss🤦♂️
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Yes, sun that only burn 2 specific points in the skin.
And that swell in the format of a baton no less.
https://imgur.com/X0qv8ix
The center of the back has 0 sun burn, and theres absolutely no swell
https://imgur.com/a/qJo6q4m 1
HockeyHocki@reddit
You are mental, if anything that's sunburn. Where is the video evidence of the beating and the rape
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Haha, yes lets pretend like in the godamn video your piece of shit goverment post shows people beaten and pass it as a sunburn that dont burn the center of the back for some reason.
And ask for a rape video. I am reporting your ass.
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
What not posting anymore? Looking for a new position to move?
Zipz@reddit
lol putting a hand on the guys back is hitting them
Holy shit
That’s what you were talking about
Jesus Christ brother you really have no shame
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
No, beatin someone is hitting them.
https://imgur.com/X0qv8ix
https://imgur.com/qek1d5e
Zipz@reddit
That looks like a sunburn
You’re joking right ?
You do know they were on a boat in the freaking ocean for a while right
Let alone no evidence of anyone being beat on camera you lied
Like holy moly how embarrassing for you
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Oh yes, sunburn that is focused in 2 specific points of the body.
Shut the fuck up hittler junir.
Zipz@reddit
Lmk when he blocks you also
Zipz@reddit
Ya all that rape with zero evidence
And all those injuries that showed up out of nowhere
Funny one day the lady’s ok the next day her necks broken
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
https://www.instagram.com/reels/DYm4viXCfyz/
You can literally see their faces bruised and a soldier hitting a detained guy at a point.
Calm down Adolf Jr.
Zipz@reddit
I don’t see anything like that in the video
Let alone funny how you want to ignore the rape claims with zero evidence
Let’s also ignore the lady who was fine after being released and then all of a sudden had a broken neck
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
You are a piece of shit thats why you dont see "anything liek that" in the video. Also lets talk about your post history, why you only post defending israel in politic subs?
What
Zipz@reddit
Weird how you want to ignore you lied and both my points
Why is that?
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Lied to what? You saw the video that shows people getting beaten and say YOU dont see it in it, and is asking me to post videos of rape.
Calm down hitler junior, you arent smart as you think as you are.
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Also, why the fuck you ONLY post in political subs? Are you paied to do so adolf jr?
Mark_My_Morphemes@reddit
Im confused which one youre referring to.
Wooden-Agent2669@reddit
How did they behave in Spain?
Silver_Middle_7240@reddit
Immediately tackled one of the officers from behind and then attacked the officers that intervened
IOnlyFearOFGod@reddit
why would they do that? No human just irrational attacks an officer unless they are absolutely mental.
Silver_Middle_7240@reddit
Got it in one
IOnlyFearOFGod@reddit
what?
RetardedSheep420@reddit
naïve idealism that cops or people in power are people who only act out of pure justice and dont let their emotions get in the way. some people with authority might misuse their powers to abuse people they personally dont like.
Zipz@reddit
And it’s even more naive to pretend they just went and attacked them for no reason
RoostasTowel@reddit
Does that apply to the protesters too?
renok2504@reddit
That's because they ARE mental
RogerianBrowsing@reddit
The videos clearly show one cop shoving a flotilla member who landed on the back of a cop due to it and then the beatings started in full force.
You blame protesters who get kettled and the victims of genocide so at least the Nazism is consistent I guess
RoostasTowel@reddit
The police were trying to make them move out of the airport exit not at all trying to kettle them.
They just got repatriated and were able to go home. But now they are going to jail.
RoostasTowel@reddit
How do you land on a police officer?
Seems pretty expected that if you are on top of a cop the other cops will act to get you off of them.
calmdownmyguy@reddit
Quick! Sprinkle some crack on him!
RoostasTowel@reddit
Calm down my guy
RogerianBrowsing@reddit
You’ve clearly never been unexpectedly shoved from behind.
chatte__lunatique@reddit
So one cop can push you into another cop and then all the other cops get free reign to beat the shit out of you? Yeah that seems fair 🙄
Nudel_des_Todes@reddit
They were blocking the exit of the gate for their propaganda stuff and when police tried to disperse them with slowly escalating urgency they reacted by insisting to block the exit with escalating stubborness.
Mr1ntexxx@reddit
Famously honest Israel
Zipz@reddit
Famously honest flotilla activist
One day they are fine next day they have a “broken neck”
ShamScience@reddit
No, no, police do not get to beat people. That is NOT their job and not their right, outside of obvious dictatorships.
RoostasTowel@reddit
They literally do though.
The agency that is allowed to use deadly force absolutely has it in their job description to use less deadly force as well.
elihu@reddit
The Al Jazeera link isn't working for me.
This is another article on the same thing:
https://www.jpost.com/international/article-897058
The video is pretty horrific.
HummusSwipper@reddit (OP)
Thanks for providing a feedback. I'm assuming they took it down since it didn't look good for either Spain or the activists they support.
RoostasTowel@reddit
Funny how the israel foreign ministry says “We demand an explanation from the Spanish government regarding its treatment of the flotilla anarchists,”
As if they are mad about it or something
DanDan1993@reddit
Nah, just getting our stories straight on how we both beat up the same people.
Granted our government took it a bit further (IBG being a clown, miri regev...), still pretty hilarious how Spain goes "we demand explanations for their abuse" yet the second they show up in Spain they get beat up by basque police.
avroLancasterBPR1@reddit
I mean spain has been like the most vocal anti-israel european country so far so this is just a really humorous PR swing in the eyes of Israel I’d imagine
Best_Change4155@reddit
It's truly awful. We should remove the Spanish-occupation of Basque. By force if necessary.
kolitics@reddit
Video that starts earlier https://youtu.be/F77rc26cayM
LordHazel@reddit
downvote me to hell if you want but i’d guess that if two counties with VERY different views on geopolitics treat some specific individuals the same then it’s very likely these individuals are the issue at hand.
Warlock3000@reddit
Buddy, if you want to go with that logic, most of the planet doesn’t like you.
RaiJolt2@reddit
That’s the exact reasoning the antisemites and anti-Zionists use to justify their butchering and attacks of Jews worldwide. I’d advise not using such rhetoric.
TommyTwoNips@reddit
Your bullshit country rapes prisoners to death.
We all know where the problem lies, and it's not the protesters.
It's your bullshit ethnostate, and the world will be safe once it's replaced with a country that doesn't rape prisoners to death.
darkvaris@reddit
Treating unviolent activists with violence and then, especially, defending that act just shows how fucked your beliefs are
Leshawkcomics@reddit
So, say... WW2 Germany and Italy?
BroMan001@reddit
So the fact that many different groups and countries with many different (geo)political views have hated Jews in the past means they’re right? Of course not, moron
w8str3l@reddit
But no sexual assault for these “specific individuals”? Why not?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Silence_That_Meets_the_Rape_of_Palestinians
Maximum-Hall-5614@reddit
The Spanish assailants are part of a right wing militia that does not report to the federal Spanish government.
Your “democratically” elected officials are not the same as a non-government militia, dipshit.
ArielRR@reddit
I wonder if some sort of state in the 1930s used an argument like that to ethnically cleanse a certain minority.
Pklnt@reddit
Are we going to see a Spanish Minister film himself while humiliating them on video?
Acceptable-Device760@reddit
Because it was cops in one and a country goverment in another.
Its no surprise that Nazirel has sympathizers, to not say outright spies, everywhere.
Hanzel_G@reddit
What just happened there?
HKEY_LOVE_MACHINE@reddit
Maybe picking an airport as the stage for clashing with the police was not the best idea - unless the goal was to get some juicy footage for social media, then it's a great success.
Airports are notoriously sensitive areas, you can't go there and riot around, cops will shut that down immediately. The security risks related to airport are maximum, and everyone know that: you don't see people fighting or getting drunk or high in airports, because the smallest ruckus will get you in cuffs in a heartbeat.
SexCodex@reddit
So you're saying the police should have been arrested, for starting a riot?
HKEY_LOVE_MACHINE@reddit
The activists waiting for their comrades to fly back home should have set up their welcoming party just outside the airport terminal, 5 meters back, and none of that would have happened.
It's literally that simple.
Everyone else setting up large welcome parties do that. They don't block the terminals, they don't clash with the airport security personnel, they agree to let the airport function.
Why would this group of militants thought they were above that? Hubris maybe.
Airport terminals are extremely high-security area, regardless of your reason to be there.
Why are airports so sensitive?
airports have been used for terrorist attacks multiple times in the past, both massacring by automatic weapons, bombing and hijacking.
airplanes are extremely vulnerable to tampering by a single person, that could cause a crash and 200+ to 300+ victims. Nobody can walk on the tarmac without an authorization, or sneak into unauthorized areas to plant unauthorized items.
airports are the #1 access for long-distance foreigners to enter a country. This is a significant security risk for all countries around the world.
Failure to observe basic cooperation with airport security personnel will result in an immediate response. We all know that, we all agree to this, nobody is above this.
