It was a delight to see the Douglas C-47 Skytrain (BuNo 44-76423) in action this past Saturday at the Palm Springs Air Museum. You can't beat the sound's of those Twin Wasp radial piston engines!

The folks over at the museum take really good care of all their flying aircraft. They even have a flying B-17 Flying Fortress and are currently restoring the original Memphis Belle from the movie to flying status.

No, but for $200 bucks you can take a 30 minute flight in it for 30 minutes. It's now on my list of things to do this coming year for sure!

During D-Day celebrations last year they had several of these old cargo planes in France to do commemorative jumps. I wonder if this is one of the aircraft.

From the research I've done into this serial # it doesn't look like it. But it served in the UK, Belgium, French, Israel air forces before ending up at the museum so I'm sure it delivered paratroopers at some point.
