One of the last nails in the coffin for St Loui, Missouri.

Yup. STL is quite a ghost town since then. Quite sad, actually. I grew up about 3 miles from that airport. Our house was right under final approach. Got to watch some really good stuff from our front yard. DC3s, 6s, Constellations, Electras, earliest jets, etc. Good times!

As a kid we lived in Springfield, MO so any time we flew it was always in-to STL on a puddle jumper and from there it was anywhere else.

I still remember this. 1985.

So the flight attendant says to me, “hey Champ, would you like some TWA coffee?” I says “sure.” Then she turns to Mrs Champ and says “Hey Mrs Champ, would you like some TWA tea?” Well I snap. LOSE IT!

Reading a history of TWA is interesting. The absolutely bizarre shit Hughes did with (really, to) that airline is like something out of a badly-plotted novel.
"Yeah, buy that airplane for the airline so we can make money flying passengers around in... Never mind, it's now my private airliner, you can't have it." And that's one of the more mild WTF things he did.
