MI50 price hike, are they moving inventory at that price?

I was monitoring the price on ebay, they would go 300$CAD free shipping and now they are 550$CAD+ why the sudden price hike? Are they even selling at this price? Seems like a dick move to me. On another note, there are plenty of rtx 3090 for 800$CAD on marketplace if you are willing to drive around... Why does it suck so much acquiring proper VRAM?

It has been unsupported by AMD (ROCm) for more than 1 year, hence the previous low price.
I think the price went up because the MI50 is now supported again, by the community this time.

I think 2 or 3 mos. ago, I got 2 mi50 32gb for under 250 each from ebay. I think maybe it was closer to 220 even. But, I randomly check and saw they were on the rise again.
fallingdowndizzyvr@reddit
I think they were $220 a month ago on ebay and even still treading down. Then a few days later they were $280+ and rising. I was checking every few days to bottom fish. But it did a V shape.
Mkengine@reddit
I got 3x MI50 for $110 each three months ago from alibaba, taxes, tarrifs and shipping pushed that to around $500 total for alle three when I finally got my hands on them.

and somehow 3090 prices barely moved since, maybe its time to buy before it catch up idk

Just sold my MI60 at \~$350 usd. I wouldn't reccomend buying them at these prices though

software support.
ttkciar@reddit
At least MI210 prices are still trending downward (for now).
tehinterwebs56@reddit
How much are you seeing mi210s for? I’m still seeing them for 7-10k aud. Where the mi50 32gb is sitting around 800aud.
Gonna be a while before they get around the 800 mark. lol
Once ada hits eBay and AliExpress etc, I think that’s when we will see some fire sales.
Until then, I’ll stick with my 3x Tesla p4 rig that’s super efficient hahaha
ttkciar@reddit
I've been seeing them for between $4000 and $4500 (USD) on eBay.
At the rate they've been dropping, I expect them to hit $1000 (USD) by late 2017, which might be my trigger to pick one up.

I think end of 2027 will be the yeah of home lab AI craziness.
Was thinking of some v100sxm2 in pcie but they just aren’t worth 800aud either. I’ll just wait.
waiting_for_zban@reddit
They are still way too overpriced if you compare it to a RTX 6000 Pro. I am crossing fingers AMD would release a consumer GPU for AI. It's been rumoured few times, with GDDR7 and 128GB of VRAM. Then we get hit by a NAND shortage. GPU poor like us can't catch a break.
No-Refrigerator-1672@reddit
I would suggest to just go ahead and import them from China. They are priced roughly $220 for 32GB right now, plus however much tax your country takes. I believe it'll come out significantly cheaper than 550 cad. However, there is a massive price spike; in China they were like half the price half a year ago.
fallingdowndizzyvr@reddit
They were that price on ebay a month or so ago while they were $135 on Alibaba.
Endlesscrysis@reddit
Amd architecture and software is being more supported at a rather steady pace, making mi50s a super interesting card in terms of vram/price and having local ai enthousiasts buy them more.
grabber4321@reddit
All prices just went up even for 3090. Thanks Nvidia. Now 3090s are running at 1100-1500
Karyo_Ten@reddit
RAM went up 100% in 3 months. Even 500% if I believe this: https://videocardz.com/newz/cyberpowerpc-cites-500-ram-price-spike-plans-pc-price-hike-on-december-7
grabber4321@reddit
I'm aware.
Karyo_Ten@reddit
So 24GB RAM GPUs are worth more now.
sleepy_roger@reddit
It's insane.. I bought this kit CT2K64G56C46U5 in August for $279.. it's $1079 on Amazon now and 749 at Microcenter.
Dry_Yam_4597@reddit
Damn.
Dry_Yam_4597@reddit
Oooh, just as I sold my 3090 gygaiute turbo dual slot for 600 GBP (793$). Although the UK market is not as expensive as the US market. Awesome card but I should have waited I suppose 😆
fallingdowndizzyvr@reddit
If you can get a 3090 for 800, you'd be crazy to pay 550 for a Mi50.
cantgetthistowork@reddit
Just because list prices have gone up doesn't mean that they are being sold at that price
fallingdowndizzyvr@reddit
It's used/NOS. There's no such thing as list prices. That's a new thing.
And they are being sold. These aren't joe and schmoe selling one or two out of the garage and price gouging in hopes they get a sucker. These are big industrial scale liquidators. There job is literally to move stuff as fast as possible. Pricing things at prices they will sell is literally their job.
