Hi, i want to convince my pops to use linux but he does not want to deal with the terminal.
Is there a distro like this? Also installing software will be done via gui, something like synaptic or software center in ubuntu.
Thanks

You can use Kde neon

Why am I getting downvotes? KDE Neon is perfect, especially since KDE Linux is in beta.

kde neon isnt developed anymore afaik.

That looks really good for this use case. Nice

I came here to say the same. Very close in menu options.

I put Linux Mint on my wife’s laptops over a decade ago and she’s doesn’t even know what the terminal is, much less doing anything with it. I’ve been using Linux as my primary operating system for over fifteen years and I’ve only needed to open the terminal a handful of times. Most of the issues I’ve had, were manageable via the GUI.
If you install a distribution like Mint, Ubuntu or PopOS there is a good chance you’ll never really need to open the terminal. Most of the settings are managed via the GUI. Similar to the terminal that exists in Windows, it’s there, it adds functionality but it doesn’t require you to use it regularly. Use of the terminal in Linux is far less common than you might think.

I expect, sooner or later, pops won't be happy with a nerdy OS. Why not try ChromeOS Flex? Easy, peasy. It is Linux based, but not sure I'd call it a distro, but excuse me for cheating a bit. Anyhow, try Flex on its live installer indefinite ... saves settings and files but will not update ... if you like it, install it.
If you want a real linux, install Endless OS Full ... it has 200+ apps ... don't even worry about installing another, likely. And it is immutable (i.e., less breakable). While student oriented, many non-students love it.

I recommend Bazzite to all people, who want just good OS experience. It somewhat lacks customization, but for people who want it "just work" it is perfect. Also very easy to rollback, if latest patch broke something for you (I'm looking at you, gnome). Also community grows really fast, so it is easy to find solutions for most of the problems
necrophcodr@reddit
You can do the same kinds of OS customization on Bazzite too, but they do require more know-how to do than on other distributions, because you'd be building your own Bazzite images for that. But you can still do it.

Slapped Mint on my old mans laptop and he got used to it quickly. I just needed to show the basics and install thunderbird and a solitaire game, and he was set 😎

One doesn't really have to use the terminal much, if at all, these days. The UI's are pretty darn good. Mint is a great choice for someone transitioning from "something else".

Most distros do not require terminal use. Some of the easiest are Linux Mint and Zorin OS.
Typical-Chipmunk-327@reddit
+1 for this.
Also maybe give Fedora KDE a look.

Fedora, Ubuntu, openSuse, Debian are all good. All have GUIs for installing software and you never need to touch the terminal.

Mint cinnmaon or zorin

kubuntu or mint.

Most distros are like that nowadays. Maybe try linux mint or opensuse
