Why do so many people hate the Su-57?

I keep seeing the same easily disproven arguments about it... "Wood screws", "RCS of a bus", "there are only a handful", "useless", "paper tiger", ecc... Sometimes I see people not even focusing on the plane but the nation behind it, Russia. Which is fair politically speaking but it has nothing to do with the plane itself.
How can people be so uninformed about this jet? Is this because information isn't always available or are people simply biased? It kinda saddens me since I absolutely love this jet, both because of how pretty it is and its capabilities.
Ps: this is T-50-11 after it was modernised to "2nd stage prototype" (Megalopolis project), for anyone wondering :)
anactualspacecadet@reddit
Really? You can disprove that there are only a handful of them? Im not saying that makes the individual aircraft a shitty plane (the fact that of the 20 that have been built like 4 have crashed is what makes it a shit plane) but there’s a reason the spartans lost to the persians. Numbers matter.
SteamyGamer-WT@reddit
You have your numbers completely wrong here. Russia has more than 40 Su-57s now, and only 1 Su-57 has ever crashed. I don't disagree with your point, you just have your numbers wrong. Here's KNAAZ's Su-57 delivery record:
anactualspacecadet@reddit
Oh man! 40! Watch out guys!
Dude the US has well over 1000 5th gen fighters
SteamyGamer-WT@reddit
I know, I agreed with yoyr statement, I was just saying the numbers were wrong.
SteamyGamer-WT@reddit
The majority of my fellow NATO citizens are going to hate this, but the main reason why people hate on the Su-57 is because they know litterally nothing about it that is true, they are fed lies and propaganda spread by Americans to try and down-play it so that it doesn't do well on the international market, which is sadly working 😞.
I know this because I have argued with hundreds of other western people over the Su-57, and they almost never say "facts" that are remotely true, and I always end up having to educate them on the truth about the aircraft.
For example, this picture below is not a Su-57, it is a prototype, the 4th prototype (out of 11), designation T-50-4. But thanks to google and morons on the internet, everyone thinks this is what the Su-57 looks like. Search "Su-57 production model" to see what the real thing looks like.
I'll also reply to this comment to show what a real Su-57 looks like.

No one hates it. People have pointed out real issues though. For starters, it doesn’t appear to have the advanced stealth features of the F-35. We see that the SU-57 hasn’t been as extensively deployed by the Russians as the F-35 has been by its operators. We won’t see the SU-57’s impact on the Ukrainian battlefield.
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
Well, what stealth features doesn't it have over the F-35? If you're talking about RAM and radar blockers, the Su-57 has them. And they're also going to give them AL-51 Saturns.
The reason it wasn't extensively deployed is because only 2 factories are producing them and it's a national project, F-35 Is multinational.
Downtown-Act-590@reddit
That is an interesting way to excuse complete failure of Russian aerospace industry to actually finish their projects.
There is so many of them. Angara, MC-21, Ka-60...
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
Every industry has failed projects it's not a big deal, take the Comanche for example. Or the YF-23. Or the YB-49. Or many others.
Significant_Group809@reddit
Fyi the Y in the name generally (correct me if im wrong) means that its a competition aircraft. That means that one will fail and that is the intended result.
Downtown-Act-590@reddit
The YF-23 simply didn't win the competition. That isn't a failed program, but a bested program.
I will give you Comanche as a failed program. However, having one major program go down is very different from struggling to deliver on pretty much any major program (bar the new Flanker derivatives that were started as projects during Cold War anyway).
Maybe there is the Superjet too, but it is a widely unsuccessful aircraft that never expanded out of Russia, has a horrible safety record and seems dead in the water apart from state orders as of now.
Aerosucre_B727@reddit
The hate comments for the SU-57 I've seen are probably little kids who know nothing about Aviation who think America is the best and can't comprehend that Russia can make decent aircraft (I've seen the same for China's Chengdu J-20)
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
Considering some of the mind boggling arguments I've seen (one dude claimed it wasn't stealth because it has a radar in the tail), yeah... That seems like a very plausible reason.
Aerosucre_B727@reddit
It's like the same people who say "If it's Boeing I'm not going". They just think the U.S. is like the best in the world and think Chinas J-20 and Russias SU-57 are terrible low quality copycat variants of the F-22 or F-35
iforgotmyoldnamex@reddit
India put money into the PAK FA project with the expectation that they'd be export customer number one. India saw the prototype and walked away. They know more about it than me so I'll defer to their judgment.
But if it makes you feel any better everyone still loves the Berkut.
Designer_Buy_1650@reddit
The stealth capabilities are unknown by the general public. However, the fact that it hasn’t been accepted by other countries and has limited production speaks volumes. And, there’s been no use of it in Ukraine (as far as I know) which is incredible.
ParaMike46@reddit
Because. Russian
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
Get lost, this isn't about politics it's about the plane.
I don't like Russia either but that doesn't mean I have to hate everything they make.
ParaMike46@reddit
Their aviation is killing civilians daily in Ukraine. Get lost with this bullshit Russian content. Too much of this shit in this sub already.
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
I understand why you are mad about that, it's perfectly reasonable. Russia's government sucks ass.
But why are they the only ones being accountable for it? The US (and others) have done the same. I don't understand why it should be always needed to associate politics with the jet itself. The fact that F-15s, Su-27s, F-18, and others committed horrible crimes doesn't stop me from loving them. They're the tool not the user.
Lord-Heller@reddit
Because the US are the "good ones"

Sorry. But because of Russia and their actions entry Russian content seems like Russian propaganda. It’s their own fault, don’t blame me for that. Personally I would prefer not to see anything from this horrible horrible nation. Don’t need their shit

lumezz@reddit
and US jets haven’t killed thousands of civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan? the hypocrisy here is insane
YourNansBiscuitTin@reddit
No but it might be other peoples reason.
donna_donnaj@reddit
That's not the complete story.
iBlockMods-bot@reddit
There's the total.
Goodspeed137@reddit
Came here to say the same.
PhantomSesay@reddit
Would love to see it and an F-22 raptor go head to head.
But unfortunately that day will never come.
itchyerse@reddit
unfortunately ? really ?
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
It could end in nothing, or MAD, or one dies and one doesn't. Impossible to know. With how BVR is these days and with the missiles and electronics these 2 carry anything can happen.
Dr__-__Beeper@reddit
Please, if you can, name one person that hates that jet?
Have you ever met anyone that hates that jet?
Sounds like you're asking us nonsensical questions.
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
Every single time I've posted an image of this jet I've received nothing but:
1) incorrect comments
2) downright racism
So yes, I met many people that do. Even in real life. For the same stupid and wrong reasons people have parroted.
eagle_two@reddit
Racism? That sucks, but how do people in these airplane threads even know which race you are? Or do you self-identify as an Su-57?
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
People have assumed I was Russian many times. And have resorted to personal attacks to discredit me.
Dr__-__Beeper@reddit
So basically you've never met one person in your entire life that doesn't like this jet, and you're just parodying nonsense here.
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
If you don't believe I have then look at the comments of my posts about this plane. They'll speak for themselves
z0d1aq@reddit
Some folks can separate pure technology from things that are being done using that technology, but some can't including me. I don't care how cool this plane might be actually, it might be the best of the best but I'm gonna hate it as long as it's used against defending people. It's that simple.
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
But isn't that true for any military jet? I know the F-15, F-18 and other jets have also bombed civilian targets but that doesn't mean the plane itself is at fault. It's just a weapon, not the one that holds the gun.
I say this not for whataboutism, but because if that argument (it's used for bad things so it's bad) was actually true every sub would ban ALL military jets that aren't just trainers or fuel tankers.
I simply enjoy the plane outside of how imperialistic and autocratic Russia is.
z0d1aq@reddit
I think it's a little bit more complicated comparing to other jets. This guy we are talking about was made in Russia, by Russian engineers, packed with Russian weapons and attack the defending side of the conflict where Russia is the aggressor. I doubt you can find examples of other jets built to do only a bad thing, and as for now, Su-57 has solely been doing bad things.
I wouldn't care though if it were sold let's say to India and then Indian attacks somebody.. That case it would fair to say that it's only a weapon.
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
This would make sense if it was developed solely for the war. But it wasn't. Its project started in the early 2000s from lessons of the failed 1.44
z0d1aq@reddit
It doesn't matter what it was built for, but for now this advanced jet does nothing but making this aggressive war even worse. It's probably sad, but it's just a fact.
z0d1aq@reddit

Maleficent-Cheek-611@reddit
i think it might not be as stealthy as planes like the f-22 and stuff, but i think it's just because it's fught and lost...
not to say i don't like it
P_filippo3106@reddit (OP)
Yes it's overall less stealthy than the F-22, but that's for good reason. It sacrificed some stealth for production cost and overall more adaptability. The F-22 sacrificed quite a bit for its stealthiness.
Russia (probably) did this because with how advanced X band is, they saw no reason to sacrifice so much for stealth. (X band will see 5th gens even at 40km, or more).
Lord-Heller@reddit
Because most people hate everything that comes from Russia these days. I find it hilarious.
