Any arcades near you? Aladdin's Castle doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

It’s chili, it’s fresh, it’s Noah’s Arcade

Funspot is less than an hour from my house. My best friend and I go 5-6 times a year for that sweet hit of nostalgia.
lucidguppy@reddit
Every year the games degrade, just like me!
rubbish_heap@reddit
I was going to comment how you need to go to Fun World to see real degradation but it looks like they cleaned up the place, well at least the inside.
Intelligent-Camera90@reddit
I hit up Funspot a few times a year, but never been to Fun World - now I know what to do next time I need to be down to Tyngsboro.
Carpeteria3000@reddit
We used to have Pinball Wizard in Pelham, NH as well, but that's been gone for awhile. That place was awesome.

Every time I came into the mall through the Aladdin's Castle entrance, I would hear, "X-MEN!" ☺️

We go to Up-Down in Minneapolis

I had my 7th birthday party at Aladdin’s Castle.
MsBlondeViking@reddit
Yes. And they recently celebrated 47 years in business. How they’ve managed to stay open is anyone’s guess. They’re located in a dead mall.
MyNameCannotBeSpoken@reddit (OP)
Does one still exist?
MsBlondeViking@reddit
Yup! It was their 47th birthday last week!
phillium@reddit
Our small town (\~15000 people) has one. They used to have it where you could go in and spend quarters, but they've since moved to the business model of the machines are coin-less and you just buy an hour at a time.
BrattyTwilis@reddit
Had an Aladdin's Castle in my mall but it folded by the year 2000. It got replaced by a smaller arcade with a laser tag maze inside.
My hometown has a retro arcade that I used to frequent when I lived there. It got big enough that they built a second location in another nearby city
Cloud_Disconnected@reddit
Yes, there's a retro arcade where I live now, and one in my hometown. These places sometimes don't advertise much and are often run by hobbiests, so check Google in your town and support them if you're interested.
If you're very interested it's worth traveling to one. These machines are expensive to maintain and the parts to repair them are no longer manufactured. There will be a time when the arcade experience as we knew it, a central part of many of our childhoods, will no longer be available, or will be very rare.
Like tears in rain.
Foxey512@reddit
There’s one by me too…definitely a work of love for the owner. It has maybe 50-60 unlocked games (pinball, driving, music/dance, and old school button/joystick games like Qbert and PacMan) for $15 for as long as you want to stay. Introducing the current generation to arcades :-)
KudosOfTheFroond@reddit
There ain’t even a Wikipedia on what was probably the most influential business of my childhood? I can still recall the location of every arcade game in my local Aladdin’s Castle, and exactly what it sounded like and the smell of mall & coins clinking

My friend had a birthday party at Alladins after hours. It was awesome.
TurdFerguson2OOO@reddit
Our mall had on. I was always partial to Noah's arcade though.

We have one of the largest Arcade’s in the world right down the street from me. Galloping Ghost. Has more than 400 games. https://www.gallopingghostarcade.com/
smallboxofcrayons@reddit
Lived in Portland/Vancoucer as a teen and fondly remember Wunderland. They charged to get in but all the games cost nickels. Many lost weekends there.
Don-Poltergeist@reddit
My local mall arcade when I was growning up was a Sega's Time out, but eventually turned into an Aladdin's castle.
wetfloor666@reddit
We've got one downtown, or there was until recently. I can't recall if it moved or closed completely. We also have a Playdium(formally SEGA Playdium some years ago now), not more than 30 minutes from me. That place has always been awesome. It blows away any mall arcade but is far less convenient to get to vs. the old mall arcades.
MysteriousCicada5012@reddit
Arcades and Barcades are popular in my area
danbob411@reddit
There is a local arcade called High Scores, and I recently learned of a Pinball Museum, in which you can play all of the exhibits.
Dildo_Shw4ggins@reddit
I visit Fayetteville, AR fairly often and they have an old school arcade (called Arkadia) with 150+ cabinets. It’s only $5 to get in and all the games are free. My kids and I spent countless hours in there.
guyako@reddit
I might even still have some old tokens from Aladdin’s Castle.
col_clipspringer@reddit
My town had this, plus Sega City, Le Fun, and Einstein’s Arcade (my favorite)
DJSfromthe1900s@reddit
The mall in my hometown had Just Fun. I still have a token from there. It closed a long time ago, maybe early 2000's. I now live a few hours away from there and Dave and Busters is the best bet. Though I did find out recently there's a retro 80's themed arcade about an hour away. We'll probably check that out this winter.
Quixotegut@reddit
We had an Aladdin's Castle!
Good times.
Oijando@reddit
Aladdin’s Castle was my childhood arcade as well. We had one in the mall and many birthdays among my friends were celebrated there. It eventually closed but when I built my own arcade machine at home, I scored some aladdin’s castle tokens on ebay for the nostalgia.

I do miss the sound of walking into our local arcade. Mixture of game demos, jukebox, and people talking/laughing and just generally having a good time. The windows were tinted, creating a “bar for teenagers” like atmosphere.
Wadetheblade@reddit
I loved Aladdin's Castle!
elegantlywasted1983@reddit
I think you know what you have to do, friend.
Significant_Dog412@reddit
London's got a few arcade bars (Four Quarters are the main with 4-5 bars) otherwise Heart Of Gaming in Croydon is the closest to an old school arcade as we'd have known as kids.
Bonus points for being in a crummy old shopping centre too, and I was probably playing some of the old machines in their original locations way back in my teens.
I've seen videos suggesting one or two more have sprung up, so will need to investigate.
ShortBrownAndUgly@reddit
Growing up we had an arcade called pocket change. Miss those days of seeing crowds around the new hot shit like primal rage lol
bcentsale@reddit
One of our local malls had an independent arcade as of just a few years ago. I'm not sure whether or not it's still there. Our big mall has a trampoline park, indoor blacklight minigolf, 3 big chain arcades, 2 escape rooms, and a comedy club. I think it even has one or two actual retail stores, too!
neon_farts@reddit
We’ve got https://freeplaybar.com/ - I’ve never actually been during adults only times but they have family days every other weekend which are a lot of fun. Very nostalgic and all the pinball

moonbunnychan@reddit
No just pure arcades...we have Dave and Busters, a barcade, and some games at places like bowling alleys. It's long been my dream to own an arcade...but I know that's never going to actually happen or even be a good idea.
Goblin_Eye_Poker@reddit
The mall near me currently has an arcade called Aces Breakaway & Play
lucidguppy@reddit
Can you imagine telling the business owner - you have 5 to 10 years tops with this business.
Hilsam_Adent@reddit
...but will rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars, one quarter at a time.
MlsterFlster@reddit
We had an Aladdin's Castle in the mall. It's long gone. The miniature golf places still have arcades.
