This just made me realize that commercials don't use actual song-SONGS jingles anymore. They just use the "In a World..." voiceovers. That must have put a lot of session musicians out of work. I remember that "writing commercial jingles" was a BIG part of the professional musicians' income.
Yeah. I work in advertising. Brands don’t invest in marketing like this anymore. Now with digital advertising, you’re making a creative campaign that lasts months. Since it’s no longer about TV and live broadcast, you need to make a big impact right away or get lost in the mix. You also only pay to show up to the target audience you want to reach. Having a bespoke jingle isn’t necessary anymore and it’s a shame. My team would love to make something big like this.
The only fun trend I see is as the gen Z folks are aging into more roles within advertising they’re wanting to go back to more 90s aesthetics. Even mimicking early website design and real basic graphics. Bring back TV jingles I say!
This happens to me a lot. I was reminded of the chipmunk adventure movie so I looked up the songs and legit knew all the words. Comforting to know that I will always know the words to Wooly Bully even though my memory continues to decline.

I really miss these old ad jingles. Nowadays, they just fold in a clip from a song that was popular 20+ years ago and call it a day

Me during the Rockapella Folgers commercial. Now I’m right in harmony, with that doo wop doo wop…
Also, this one. Sing it with me:
Wherever there’s a pool, there’s always a flirt
Whenever there is school there will always be homework
Whenever there’s a beat…

I’ve heard this jingle a million times, but I couldn’t have told you who it was for until she sang the brand name at the end

Same! I was trying to picture the video and I still have no idea what was on the screen.
