I wasn’t allowed to watch Married with Children, Beavis and Butthead, Jerry Springer, and any Madonna videos.
Top-Wolverine-8684@reddit
Right there with you. Ren and Stimpy, The Simpsons, MTV, Married With Children, Beavis and Butthead, South Park, most talk shows, soap operas... All is it was banned in our house.
Peaceoorwar@reddit
My son was on the 67 thing And it's kinda annoying. I randomly showed him a clip of Cornholia. He forgot about the whole 67 thing after that
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
I've seen this mentioned elsewhere. What does 6-7 imply when kids say it?
Kade7596@reddit
it's a thing from a song that isn't really about the song
it's just about catching people offguard who aren't expecting a big reaction about it
which is also why it's going to go away soon because everyone knows about it so it isn't fun anymore
Peaceoorwar@reddit
I don't even know it's a song but I think they do it more for reactions
Adrasteia-One@reddit
My parents didn't like this show during its heyday, but strangely, they came around to it some years later. They may have associated it with nostalgia for the years I was a young teen. We even watched the Christmas special one year, and everyone cracked up.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
The Christmas Special is one of the funniest episodes of all. Such a great memory to share with your parents!
BornTry5923@reddit
Why is this just now dawning on me: His name was Butthead??
Godsmacker1987@reddit
I watched this when I was younger and my mom told me it was violent
GladosPrime@reddit
Carl Sagan lamented Beavis and Butthead in one of his books.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
Carl Sagan was also a womanizing twat, so I wouldn't worry too much about his opinions.
Upbeat_Tear3549@reddit
Uh huh huh he scored
tallanvor@reddit
No, because I hated the show more than my parents did. I still think it's one of the worst shows the 90's ever produced. My brother (28 months younger than me) watched it religiously, probably more to be different than anything.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
So what you're saying is that you fall in the middle of this IQ chart?
tallanvor@reddit
No, because your meme doesn't have anything to do with intelligence.
R0botDreamz@reddit
The show was funny but my god did some dudes make this their whole personality for a whole year in middle school.
FoppyRETURNS@reddit
Back when things were forbidden.
Kade7596@reddit
I'm of the opinion that Beavis is the smart one...
Meaning Beavis should be on the right side of the chart.
His (slightly greater) intelligence & empathy are why he plays along with Butthead's nonsense.
This is seen in episodes where Butthead isn't around.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
I have the opposite opinion. I think Butt-Head is the smarter of the two.
captainmidday@reddit
heheheh. that curve is flat
mizushimo@reddit
My mom loved Beavis and Butthead way more than I did. I think the boomers appreciated humor poking fun at the youths. If you remove some of Gen X slacker stuff from them, they aren't much different than other slapstick idiot-heros of the past like Laurel and Hardy.
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
My dad loved Beavis and Butthead. When he was living with us at my grandparents house, he'd come home from work and we'd watch Beavis and Butthead followed by The Real World.
draculasbloodtype@reddit
Same, my parents thought it was hysterical. I could do their voices passably well and my Dad changed the answering machine message to me mimicking Beavis and Butthead. We also watched South Park as a family and went to the theater together to see the movie. Up until that point in my life I had never been so shocked or laughed so hard. We were crying laughing during Uncle Fucka.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
I used to tick my mom off with my Beavis impersonation. RIP, mom!
Confident-Lead4337@reddit
ZipperJJ@reddit
He! So did my dad! He was a true Boomer but he had a very naughty streak to him. I think he saw himself in Beavis.
maggie320@reddit
Right after Beavis and Butthead Do America came out on Pay-per-view my dad asked if I wanted to see it. Awkward moment for me. I had no idea he even knew what it was considering this was the same guy who’d watch the McLaughlin Group and This Old House.
Intelligent-Camera90@reddit
My dad also thought it was hilarious - which was even funnier, because he was the kind of guy who got dressed up in a suit and tie for work, managing high end retail stores. Just seeing him, you wouldn’t expect his sense of humor. For his birthday one year, we took him to see Beavis and Butthead do America.
I think he also would have liked South Park, if he’d been around longer.
Thank you for reminding me of this good memory of my dad.
BrainFartTheFirst@reddit
Given the graph, I hate to say this, I never found Beavis and Butt-Head funny.
shaebird17@reddit
This show is the reason my parents had the cable company scramble MTV despite it being part of the package they were paying for.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
That's brutal!
Prior-Grapefruit7662@reddit
I remember walking around school and saying I need TP for my bunghole. And us wearing our shirts on the back of our heads.
misterlakatos@reddit
My parents hated this show. It was definitely one we had to watch at a friend's house or secretly when no one was around.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
I rewatched a bunch of old episodes this afternoon and it still holds up, man. This was revolutionary content for us back then.
misterlakatos@reddit
Haha I believe it. I caught some episodes on YouTube and they still made me laugh. Winger never recovered from that show.
jamesdcreviston@reddit
It’s on Paramount+ including the new episodes. Well worth a watch.
I saw Frog Baseball as my first episode in the break room of the JC Pennys my grandma worked at.
Sadly it was the one that was close to the Lubys shooting in Killeen, TX.
misterlakatos@reddit
Ugh that is a very sad note.
jamesdcreviston@reddit
My Grandma used to do lunch there but that day her team meeting ran late and she didn’t go. It was a real blessing.
misterlakatos@reddit
Huge relief and blessing.
BikesAndBBQ@reddit
I’ve been watching with my son and he loves it
minibini@reddit
Yes. No regrets.
Atillion@reddit
My 12 year old came in my room literally yesterday with his shirt on his head and arms up in the air and said I AM THE GREAT CORNHOLIO.
Let's get this straight first of all. I LOVE my kid. Like absolutely adore everything he ever does and thinks and says, but this... man.. this just made me love him on a whole new level.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
You're doing parenting right!
Fluid_Change_9647@reddit
My dad loved it and my mom pretended not to. I had a teacher at school and she would make her high school aged son call it “Beavis and his friend”
cacecil1@reddit
No. Never got yelled at about anything I watched
WorgRider@reddit
My dad didn't watch it but he was cool about us kids watching it.
GenJohnnyRico@reddit
I was sent to the principal's office and my parents had to come pick me up because I had a Beavis & Butthead comic book.
DeityOfYourChoice@reddit
I rewatched this about ten years ago and it holds up very well if you have a serious drinking problem.
PoisonMind@reddit
This show is responsible for creating a generation of metalheads.
church-basement-lady@reddit
I figure being around 6-7 obsessed kids is my penance for all the time I did that stupid laugh. 😄
joey_oaks@reddit
And now they’re Fortnite skins 🤷🏻♂️
schwing710@reddit
My parents didn’t want me watching because they fell for that sensationalized “news” story about B&B being responsible for that kid who burned his family’s trailer to the ground
Separate_Counter9427@reddit
My father had no problem with us watching Rated-R movies with Arnold, Seagal or Van Damme, but for some reason he had a HUGE problem with Beavis and Butthead.
We were prohibited from watching it!
Goodfellas? Fine. T2 or Predator? No problem.
But Beavis and Butthead, that's where he drew the line! Made no sense! Hahahaha
Man_Bear_Beaver@reddit
My parents really didn't care what I watched.
BrattyTwilis@reddit
My parents wouldn't let me watch it after the controversy that some kid burned their house down after watching the show. Didn't stop me from watching it at night after everyone went to bed
Rivas-al-Yehuda@reddit
I wasn't allowed to watch the show at first. Eventually my brother and I started seeing it somehow, and we also went to the movie (I think that was all quite a bit after it first began airing though).
CurlSagan@reddit
I took shrooms and laughed so hard at Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe that I blew a hernia and got to experience the joy of an ER doc poking my intestine while gleefully instructing med students.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
Huhuhuh, you exploded your ass.
frecklemimus79@reddit
First watched it on VHS, cousin ripped the tape out of the machine and flung it at us as we giggled. Years later, it’s kiddo who rolls their eyes while SO and I giggle.
CatBoyTrip@reddit
my dad wouldn’t let me watch it but when i’d stay the weekend at my grandparents, my grandpa and uncles would watch with me.
boner79@reddit
I'm convinced Mike Judge is the poet laureate of our time.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
The sheer amount of content he's created that falls into my "favorites" category is astounding. King of the Hill is my favorite tv show of all time. Idiocracy and Office Space are two of my all-time favorite movies. Beavis and Butt-Head still make me laugh to this day.
It's like Mike knows how to channel the misery of everyday life ands a way to make us laugh at just how stupid things have gotten.
Defiant-Date-7806@reddit
Foxnews wrecked our parents more than this wrecked us.
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
Boy, if that isn't the truth!
Ambitious_Jelly8783@reddit
I need TP for my bunghole.
Defiant-Date-7806@reddit
Are you threatening me?
JaredUnzipped@reddit (OP)
Do you have TP and Rollo for my bunghole?
xpacean@reddit
“Whoa, that’s a big-ass rock Beavis… I mean, Butt-Head.”
I know in real life Mike Judge just forgot which character he was doing, but in-universe it really fits that Beavis forgot which one was him.
LineImpossible3958@reddit
My parents supported me watching this. They thought it was funny, but they didn’t really watch it much. I had a lot of Beavis and Butthead items.
michaelincognito@reddit
My wife and I hadn’t been married for long when the reboot came out in 2011. I DVR’d it and was watching it in the living room while she ran some errands. When she got home, I was certain she would judge me and call me an idiot. Instead, we sat on the couch, watched the whole season together, and laughed our asses off for the better part of a Saturday afternoon. Just another confirmation that she was the one.
Crans10@reddit
I remember in my area MTV got banned because they thought kids where going to burn down their houses because Fire Burn.
bakedveldtland@reddit
I would watch it not only with my mother, but also my sweet as pie and responsible grandmother. They thought it was funny. I think they also wanted to make sure they were keeping tabs on the media that I consumed haha. I still love b&b, the new seasons have been awesome.
Sleepytitan@reddit
I remember that they made Beavis stop saying “Fire” bc some kid lit his house on fire.
Tv, rock and roll, hip hop, and video games made us do dumb shit. Definitely wasn’t because we were half feral latchkey kids.
foxontherox@reddit
I used to watch it with mum- she was a substance abuse counselor and worked with a lot of teenagers, so she wanted to be up to date on pop culture.
We laughed our asses off.
TheJustBleedGod@reddit
Didn't have cable. Never had it
1nhaleSatan@reddit
I loved this as a kid, mostly because grown-ups didn't like it. Saw do America in theaters with my mom who hated it, but I loved it.
Got older, and now, even as nostalgia, I can't stand it. Movie still holds up though.
Zenitram_J@reddit
Nope, parents watched it with me. Quotes frequently said around the house were "I need TP for my bunghole" and "are you threatening me?!".
Philhughes_85@reddit
Loved watching this show growing up
bmessina@reddit
My dumbass Butt-Head laugh drove my dad insane. He HATED it.
Thamnophis660@reddit
I used to sneak out to watch this and then Howard Stern on E!. My mom hated both shows so much.
