I cannot stand reading through long documents designed in a way to deter most people from reading or understanding them. And I have trouble dealing even with my own thoughts and life, so adding politics that I have no power to change onto that just makes everything worse. I just know that this world has been broken since its beginning, and will remain broken until its end.
My mum thinks the right wing party in my country is left wing and the centrist party is globalist WEF puppet vaccination bullshit and I honestly think it's the biggest shame that I do all the research, I read every parties manifesto, I keep up to date, and still my vote is worth as much as hers
The unfortunate reality is you can't fix everyone. Learn to recognize the people who want confirmation bias and the people who can be reasoned with, and don't waste your energy where it isn't going to accomplish anything.
It's the allegory of the cave man. Most folks are content to see the shadows flicker. Just like you can't make someone go to therapy or study harder or whatever. Almost no one wants to do all that, Anon. Enlightenment is hard as fuck, and it's often fucking blinding.
Nah, that would make housing an even bigger crisis, and block people from getting into the market.
There is no quick fix, there will likely be a civil war, it seems like thats what trumps trying to set up, that way he can stay in the seat indefinitely. Sitting president at the time of civil war declaration remains until it ends.
Not even close to being true or accurate. We held elections during our last civil war. Since elections are constitutionally granted powers to state governments there’s no federal mechanism to stop an election from happening no matter the circumstances. We had elections during the civil war, WWII, etc. There’s no federal mechanism for stalling or stopping an election, that’s complete fantasy.
Considering that +90% of all bill considerations and proposals of recent date are done based upon lobbyists rather than the people, we're already there. It's just that the rich land owners are just as stupid because humanity is stupid and wealth doesn't necessarily buy you intelligence lol.
More than people being manipulated, it's just that people simply are too lazy to even think for themselves. It's tiring for the general public to even think outside the box.
Nah, I'm with you, it is easy to think like that, but then you gotta remember, if youre thinking like that, most other people probably are.
People are just frustrated. I'm not American, i still find it hard to believe how corrupt the government is, I wouldn't want to live there at the moment. And its not even around politics or the policies, its about how legitimately terrible people are in charge, and how no one higher up has the balls to do something.
Also most people only tend to move or change things when it personally affects them. That one "they came for the x, i did not speak for i wasn't x" is genuinely true for most people
Honestly the more time that passes the less I think “They came for x” was a warning and more just human nature. It will never not be the case, no matter how educated or connected people are.
Nah I refuse to think. Just let me take my paycheck, go home, and wring out what little droplets of fulfillment I can from my life and enjoy them before I die.
In their defense, the media should be doing this work for us in good faith and presenting the research to inform us on what the government is doing. We shouldn’t have to dig through 100 pages of meeting notes.
I know this sounds naive but that’s meant to be the idea.
I feel like people have to take some responsibility here, and I think this is rather a new thought. We made a system where the media is the fourth pillar of democracy, and we sort of relinquished all our work to them. But that didn't work for the most part. We have to do more by ourselves then, and come up with something new that works. I know people are busy and struggling, but if we need a working society on this large scale, it seems that the average member needs to be more knowledgeable and resilient.
I remember studying poli-sci when I was younger, and that was about the time i disengaged with domestic political discourse because it was becoming detrimental to my health to be that angry all the time.
Yes. People like to argue about trivial shit as a distraction from their own issues. The more someone argues, the more their life is fucked behind the scenes.

I would suggest writing articles and posts to 'wake ppl up' so to speak. Tis the only thing we can do, alas...

We should return back to the old ways of only letting land owners vote. We're already halfway there considering most voters a rich boomers.

lol if you think the average person thinks like that you’ve never worked with the general public

I have, I'm just not pessimistic. You judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree of course its going to seem stupid.

No it's not naive. I don't think people are somehow dumber than they were 60 years ago
Rather the big change is that back then, elites had a shared sense of ethics and responsibility, and other elites pressured them to follow it

It's not our government. It's the media. They have a vested interest in making us angry and obsessing over their headlines. It's big business.

The same people who own the media also lobby politicians to do their bidding
