Such a double edged sword in this day and age. Very likely those massive companies will have all kinds of automated metrics on every employee. Hard to hide and if one micromanaging manager gets involved it's so over.
Right, but I assume I atleast need to know the basics. Like wtf do I do if my boss comes up to me saying they need me doing something I have no idea how to do?
No you are not lmao. Every company and job is different in some way. Thats why everyone is ok with telling you how to do something? Adults in the company arent blind and can see if you are a fit for the role - that doesnt mean you are a perfect instant super god employee knowing everything perfectly, because no one is. Everyone learned as they went, thats why an employee is unprofitable for the first year in the company. Its high roi investment with human risks. Just like everything else lmao.

I hope I also get to have a job where the company is so big no one has any idea what I do all day, which is playing Minecraft.
Wait fuck I should've just hoped to win the lottery instead. Can I redo?
Reading_username@reddit
Join a big company as a small cog in the machine.
Easier than you think. there are literally thousands of these jobs all over.

You start asking around.
"Hey [person], I was told you might be able to help me with [task]? My first time doing it"
"Oh you aren't the right person? Any idea who to ask?"
Within 3-4 people basically guaranteed to find someone who can explain how to do it, or can at least help get you the resources you need.
That's how i've been surviving the last 7 years at my job. They still haven't figured out that i'm a total imposter syndrome fraud.
KainDing@reddit
It´s not imposter syndrom; that´s just being an imposter. And tbh go get your bag king.
QFB-procrastinator@reddit
Yeah, imposter syndrome is when you’re good at something but you think you suck and and only appear to be good.
Svejkos@reddit
Thats just learning you dumbasses
HyperlexicEpiphany@reddit
not when you’re unqualified for the job. the implication is that you learned all of this before applying, so now you’re an imposter.

Ask around enough times and soon enough you become good enough at doing it by yourself.
Dragonbut@reddit
Tbh for some industries like IT this kind of just is the job lol, at least for a while. This and googling
darcymiller02@reddit

We're only halfway through the 20's. You're still allowed to hope for more than one thing, for now at least.
