Women's fashion/makeup is the biggest scam in the modern world, which is crazy, given marriage still exists.

Bro, r/redpill is that way. Shoo.

Me when my wife scams me by entering a consensual, financially beneficial contract with me that either of us are free to leave if we want.
Working-Tomato8395@reddit
I'll hear guys be like "Yo bro, marriage is a trap, she's just gonna blah blah blah blah". My wife makes more money than I do, makes me dinner, sex is on-tap, she's only progressively gotten in better shape and better looking since we got married (I'd say we both have), she encourages my hobbies and friendships, we have a date night at least twice a week (and we alternate who's buying), she surgically plans things to knock off my bucket list I never thought I'd get to do, and she cleans and reorganizes things to relax.
Plus my in-laws are incredible people that I love spending time with. Once or twice a month they'll take us out for dinner and drinks or we'll just make cocktails, a nice dinner, and play cards together.
She brags about me constantly (especially after a few drinks), I treat her like the absolute queen she is, she treats me like a king. We've been together almost a decade, and things have only improved since we first got together.
I'm really failing to see the "scam" about two folks having each other's backs, treating each other with respect, kindness, love, and lust, and picking up the slack for each other when one is kicked while they're down.

Me when I spend six years' salary on a ring that will soon be replaced by a much cheaper, much simpler one. And then I spend an extra six years' salary on flowers and ice sculptures and doves that will be used once and then thrown away.
Just go to the courthouse and sign a fucking contract.
Pass_us_the_salt@reddit
*Weddings the scam. Wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone that you have great compatibility with is fine.
It's spending $50k on one or two days to commemorate it that's a problem.
ExoTheFlyingFish@reddit
Yeah that's exactly what I said. Thanks for repeating.
Pass_us_the_salt@reddit
English must not be your first language because you didn't say anything close to that.
Marriage is a lifelong(ideally) bond you enter with someone. A wedding is a ceremony for one day.
ExoTheFlyingFish@reddit
Aye, most people do see weddings as how one gets married. So, yes, marriage as it is viewed by society is a scam. Hope this helps!
Pass_us_the_salt@reddit
Hell yeah! Take that strawman down!!
ExoTheFlyingFish@reddit
Hey if you lack the ability to think critically that's not really my problem.
Pass_us_the_salt@reddit

Spending 6 years salary on an engagement ring is batshit insane, you are a total doormat if you got talked into that. If you're spending 12 years worth of salary on that stuff then you and your wife need a financial counselor

Weary_Specialist_436@reddit

TrueTrueBlackPilld@reddit
100% this - women like to keep an orbit of less attractive, low value women around them to enhance their own desirability. It's funny cuz you always hear about the "Alpha male" while it's actually women who more naturally lean into "wolf pack dynamics" - for lack of a better term.
Super_Silky@reddit
r/UsernameChecksOut
TrueTrueBlackPilld@reddit
Indeed, lol. I'm married with kids but I'm not immune to noticing what's going on in the world of modern dating and gender dynamics. In fact, I'm mostly blackpilled with regards to the future in store for my two pre-teen kids (a son and a daughter). I feel like the "relationship battlefield" is immensely more complicated and destructive to the psyche for their generation compared to my own.
eruizb_@reddit
Since you're already black-pilled, please take your son to have his first time with an escort. That way he'll be more relaxed, no longer a virgin, and he'll lose his fear of interacting with women. Then, educate him so he learns to develop useful skills. As for your daughter, educate her as best you can to respect men and try to make her see that associating with thugs or being an OnlyFans model won't bring her anything good in life; otherwise, she'll turn out to be a slut.
TrueTrueBlackPilld@reddit
That's like super out of left field advice lol. But yeah, I'm raising them up right. My son's a little soccer stud already, he's not going to have any problems. My daughter is already the 3rd adult in the house. We good fam.
-accro@reddit
What did they say? Getting removed by reddit is crazy
TrueTrueBlackPilld@reddit
He basically said "take your son to an escort so he's not afraid of talking to a woman" and also to "keep a close eye on my daughter - lest she become another hoe". Pretty unhinged stuff.

Fair enough but I'd say "the majority" is more accurate
Roge2005@reddit
Where did you get this? From my experience women simply are friends with who they get along with.
TrueTrueBlackPilld@reddit
This dynamic is basically common sense but it's also celebrated in pop culture. Movies like "Mean Girls" (which was remade in 2024 - because it's still relevant) comes to mind.
Weary_Specialist_436@reddit
yeah, I used to have a friend like that, she would surround herself with "less desirable" women, and would practically make sure they don't achieve anything. She was always surprised when her friendships didn't work out
funny enough, she wouldn't do that with men, even platonic ones
coolbad96@reddit
Women constantly attack each other just cause of some weird unspoken jealousy. It's why you never see a guy bad mouth Caitlin Clark but every women in WNBA just irrationally hates her and she's getting assaulted on the court with no pushback.
Mister_DumDum@reddit
You’re the only person I’ve ever met who’s brought up WNBA unironically
zw1ck@reddit
I've seen it in three separate subs today. Did something happen recently or is this astroturf drama meant to make me engage with the wnba?
GradeyDickBotAccount@reddit
Tbf Caitlin Clark has plenty of incidents where she gets her ass kicked by opposing players. Presumably they're all jealous of all the money she's raking in, but I don't think it's 100% confirmed.
Rambozo77@reddit
It’s because she’s a white girl that’s better than most of them and is getting the attention.
littlepredator69@reddit
Literally this, it's just racism, people have gotten pretty used to the best in any given sport being predominantly black, so any time someone white holds that title(especially with how dominant she is) it's a shock. It's even more so because the wnba already struggles to get viewership and the black women just really want the face of the wnba to be a black woman. I remember when she got the times player of the year or whatever, there was plenty of black women I saw that all but said she shouldn't have won it just cuz a black woman would've been better in their opinion.
coolbad96@reddit
Nba season just started back up so basketball is on the mind and the treatment of Caitlin Clark has been a very easy to spot example of women jealousy leading to harassment and mistreatment. That's it I think
_Empty-R_@reddit
Had an unstable ex who was fairly open or at least unintentionally transparent about things like this. Would regularly state that she can't stand not being the most attractive girl in a group. That she couldn't stand not being the best among her peers at x activity or y activity. These strong feelings were associated with actions I'd seen prior partners all do as well. She also kept friends that were much less attractive than her, anyone on her level or higher were kept as acquaintances because if too much time was spent with them in close proximity that's when the insults and bitching would start. Dirty rumors would be spoken of, etc.
WuTangMudkip@reddit
So I only watch combat sports… did she even say/do anything to deserve the hate? Like politics, opinions, anything?

You know that women can be misogynists, right?
Working-Tomato8395@reddit
Yeah there's an expiration date on that relationship. My wife doesn't enjoy every woman she comes across, but she can keep things civil even when confronted with the worst, and other women genuinely seem to adore her and not in the super fake way some women do. They seek out her advice, take her seriously, and my wife's friends are pretty fucking great and look out for me as well as for her.
Your girlfriend sounds like my ex. She despised other women, got jealous of other women receiving any sort of male attention at any time, if she wasn't the center of attention, she was miserable. She'd maintain years-long "friendships" with people she despised even if there were zero stakes to just letting them fall out of her life. Everything was a contest, every interaction was a battle.
Last she and I dated was 15 years ago, and last I heard about her, her mom was calling up our old classmates' parents to see if they'd spend some time with her. Like a playdate or something. Because she's lonely and doesn't have friends, and has a passionless marriage to a guy who deserves a lot better. We're in our mid-30s. She was an awful, terrible girlfriend, but I seriously pity her. I had to deal with her for a short season of my life and it sucked and ruined any desire for a relationship for years, but she has to deal with being her and living with her choices every day of her life.
micahamey@reddit
My god, my sister has started family feuds with other women she barely met because they looked at her the wrong way 14 years ago.
StarTrekCupcake@reddit
women hating other women can be directly attributed to the misogynistic framework our society is built around
outland_king@reddit
Girls have a very hierarchical structure. Anyone they view ad a rival or potential threat, they will immediately hate them. Any loser types are ok to be friends as they pose no risk to their social position.
Jewelery, makeup and clothes are all status symbols, girls will say they wear them for other girls because again its a competition. Male attention is the currency, but its a competition between other girls for who is the "prettiest" or "classiest" or "wealthiest".
Impressive_Ant405@reddit

women view other women as competition.
your gf beefs with all those women because she is insecure about your relationship. somewhere deep inside, weather she knows or not. she is afraid you'll like them more than you like her, she is worried they will steal her man.
Hanza-Malz@reddit
Which is dumb because they don’t wanna attract them now do they? Insecure crap.
PomegranateHot9916@reddit
think it through
koreiryuu@reddit
TL;DR: That's largely not true and just a dumb observation some guys make because they're (sometimes justifiably) annoyed. Women put effort into their outfits for the same reasons men do.
Long version: Really? Because I've seen and heard so many women express embarrassment to other women for how much effort they were putting into an outfit and makeup only to end the night without meeting a guy, or because they came with a guy and are starting to feel like all of the effort makes her look desperate for his attention.
Maybe earlier in life like in high school some girls only put effort into their outfit to impress or compete with their peers, but as adults women put effort into their outfits to go out either because 1. they like the way they look/it makes them feel more confident (same reason for guys), 2. they know the friends they're going out with are also putting effort into their outfit and they want to fit in with their group/don't want to be the only one not trying/don't want to be the only one not getting attention (all the same reason for guys), or 3. because they're trying to look hot because they're going to place that might attract people they're attracted to (Again, same reason for guys).
The whole "women dress up for women" is USUALLY an inane observation from some guys because of how annoyed they get at witnessing or being involved in the effort their partner puts into her looks. You're trying to not miss the beginning of a movie and their effort into their outfit is making you late, they're asking you about what shade of lipstick they should wear when you don't care, they're switching between outfits to ask what you like better and you'd rather be doing anything else, etc. Eventually all of those little things build up and some guys come to the conclusion: I don't know why she's going through all of this, it sometimes puts her in a bad mood because nothing looks right to her, I'm realizing I'm constantly saying I don't care or I don't know, I'm realizing I'd rather she wear no lipstick at all (for example) if it meant we could be on time, I don't think she's trying to leave me for anyone else..... Oh I know, she must be doing it so she looks good to other women! Especially if the guy has himself stop putting in effort into how they look when they go out, opting for comfort since they already have a mate.
Those same guys are usually the first ones to bitch and moan when their partner goes several months without dressing up, especially if it's been awhile and they see one of their guy friends with someone who is dolled up and they remember their girlfriend/wife used to dress up nice and hasn't in awhile.
PomegranateHot9916@reddit
show me your PHD
mega_douche1@reddit

PomegranateHot9916@reddit
because they dont want other women to look down on them.
just like you dont want other men to look down on you.

F-Lambda@reddit

PomegranateHot9916@reddit
you can say that all you want but you don't control your lizard brain and your lizard brain is very confident that if you are isolated from your tribe you die, and it doesn't want to die.
so you can sit here and say you don't give a fuck. but when you are in a social situation, you're not going to isolate yourself like this. you want to be accepted by your pack.
that is because human is a herd animal, we rely on each other for survival.
mega_douche1@reddit
I don't care what other men think about my appearance.
PomegranateHot9916@reddit

Vamp-go-brr@reddit
Or maybe because feeling like you're taking good care of yourself can feel nice too? Just like how you sometimes wear nail polish on your feet during the winter. You feel happy you did it especially when you come home from work and removes your shoes, and bam you remember you did that thing you like that makes you feel like you take good care of yourself Or like when you try a new hairstyle in the mirror, even if you don't show it to anyone else, experimenting can be fun !
Overall I like thinking I'm "designing" myself when I dress up and put on makeup and stuff, just like when you create a character. I test things and feel happy when it works ! Sometimes people point it looks good though, and as I think it's important to share positivity, I try to compliment at least 3 people a day irl, even if they're complete strangers If feels nicer to feel confident in yourself, both by doing it for yourself, but also when others notice the cool efforts that you do ! It's important to support each other
But yeah I don't do it just to get compliments, the main reason is to have fun ! And sometimes when i'm lazy I'll put on the worst fit I have on purpose and take goofy poses in front of my friends (like my shrekmas shirt during the summer, I'll admit it looks horrible lmaoooo but Shrek is life)
Affectionate-Cod4152@reddit

LizzieMiles@reddit
I grew up in a house with 3 younger sisters, and they were always super catty with each other over each other’s faces and stuff, pointing out and making fun of each other’s flaws constantly, which caused them all to use makeup constantly to avoid each other’s ire, so I do believe that this is at least a large part of it.
I never really cared much for makeup because it feels weird on my face and I have sensory issues thanks to autism ☠️

The real answer is because being attractive is considered a good quality by society. The more pleasing to the eye you are, the more people enjoy interacting with you. This applies to everyone, but the standards for women have been set much higher, because being attractive used to be their most important quality back when getting in a relationship was the only was to live a decent life/have rights
LuigiBrosNin@reddit
Halo effect is very much real, regardless of your sex...
Being attractive in any way makes your life better and even if you have no interest in relationship you only get benefits, especially when you're a woman given men are generally more prone to do things for you
2020mademejoinreddit@reddit
Not 'forcing', but more like pressuring via shame. I do agree that guys don't really care, but other women do and funnily enough, women do all of that for other women, not for men. Women are vicious towards other women in putting them down. Men usually don't do that.
some_guy554@reddit
Men do give a shit about them. Anon doesn't realize what they think of as "natural beauty" actually already consists of make-up, high heels and accessories. And without them, most men wouldn't even look at a woman.
Cozy_Minty@reddit
In some jobs a woman can be fired for not wearing makeup or high heels. So its not entirely self-inflicted
synthetic_aesthetic@reddit

Also, despite what they say a lot of men actually do care about it and will be really rude to women who don't
BrazenRaizen@reddit
"Forget what men tell you like. I as a woman really know what they like". Womensplain a bit more for us.
Easy-Musician7186@reddit
Which probably includes anon, because I'd say that I often can't tell if someone is wearing a bit of makeup if I'm not explicitly looking for it until the point where they don't wear it anymore.
So idk, I feel like people likely don't notice it as well that some women might cover up their dark circles beneath their eyes or somthing and then in return think that said women might be sick if she won't wear make up once in a while, which, if that's the case, probably also affects anons perception on this matter.
BrazenRaizen@reddit
% of jobs where that statement is applicable vs % of women who wear makeup and high heels would indicate that your statement is irrelevant.
HotDimension8081@reddit
Said "jobs" being whore, hostess, model, mascot etc...
Cozy_Minty@reddit
Any business that has formal business attire requires makeup and heels. Such as a lawyer, an executive, or any highly paid white collar job. It's also necessary for customer facing jobs like waitresses and receptionists.
HotDimension8081@reddit
None of those require makeup though. And even on the heels side, I know people in those positions and they wear heels only if they want. At this point you are just left with a uniform.
And this is just bullshit. No waitress ever is asked to stand for 8 hours in heels. And it's not even a "maybe in fancy restaurants" I eat out often, never have I seen them wear anything like heels, maybe sneakers, or, in more expensive places, either plain shoes or those things that look like ballerina shoes but are a bit thicker, can't remember their name in english.
Cozy_Minty@reddit
Well, you could try googling it, people have sued over the years for having to wear heels, and lost

Trespeon@reddit
Women don’t wear make up or look nice for men. They wear make up and look nice for other women and themselves, SOMETIMES for men.
samyruno@reddit
I was with OP for many years on this one. Until I understood it's just to compete with other women. Same reason guys get fancy cars that women don't care about.
Budget_Individual393@reddit
Men typically dont complain about fancy car competitions.
callmejinji@reddit
No one’s forcing Jim to spend $950 a month for 60 months on his overly priced, fully kitted F250 with Forgis on his 20 inch lift kit and suspension upgrade that costs roughly as much as the vehicle new, but there goes Jim.
Ok-Position-9457@reddit
Men complain about gas prices while driving extremely inefficient cars when nobody forced them to pay extra for the inefficient car. Also about cost of living when they have a 900 dollar car payment that they are never going to pay anything but interest on.
Also, I think this thread is overestimating how much women complain about makeup or whatever. The women who really hate makeup basically just don't ever wear it and are more than happy to not ever talk about it. Such people can be encountered if you go outside.
onyx-gilbert-carter@reddit
actually they do. a lot of
samyruno@reddit
Doesn't only have to be complaining. Also being impressed by a guy's nice car just like women will compliment each other on their makeup and stuff

schmitzel88@reddit
As someone who is into cars and also is married, this is 100% true. My wife doesn't care in the slightest about my car, and my car friends and I joke about how none of their wives care about their cars either.
404-NoFucksFound@reddit
My personal belief is about half are looking to impress others with cars (with a small, ill-initiated portion genuinely trying to attract sexual partners), and the other half is just those on the spectrum that can't handle the rigidity and conformity of trains. Bang bang vroom suhtutututu really scratches that itch in the monkey brain kind of situation. Marginally opening up the bromance 'dating' pool was just a bonus.

I think all of you are insanely stupid and probably don't see a lot of women without makeup on a regular basis. You think you don't care about makeup or a hairdo or jewelry because you are stupid and don't understand how much it actually does affect you

diogovk@reddit
I'm just a guy, but my impression is that what most guys believe is "no make-up" is actually "light make-up", and on average, they do prefer "light make-up" over "no make-up".
If your point is that it makes no difference to you, then that means she isn't getting pretty for you, but to a guy that actually has options.

Wear makeup, dress up nicely, and be told it's not needed. Why can't you just be natural and yourself?
Don't do those things, get asked "Are you feeling unwell?" "You don't even seem to try or care anymore."
zw1ck@reddit
Rip the bandaid off. Everyone is used to you in makeup, so of course without it, you look different. Go without it and eventually people will just accept that's what you look like.
kunell@reddit
This simply doesnt work in reality.
There are definite advantages to looking better professionally. Similarly disadvantages to looking worse. The worse part is it comes completely natural.
Women get hit by this the hardest.
fish312@reddit
Of course there are advantages to being naturally attractive (for both men and women).
But it's not something that can be faked, no amount of makeup or heels or disgusting lip filler can solve that.
kunell@reddit
Lolno just because you arent insightful enough to recognize the effect it has on you, doesnt mean it isnt effecting you.
Its already clearly shown most men dont understand when a woman is wearing makeup (claiming a woman is naturally pretty when she is wearing makeup). People naturally treat a woman who is dressed up better than those who arent.
Smileycorp@reddit
Nah, people say that shit to women they don't know, jewelery and shoes less so, but people are so quick to call makeupless women manly or ugly
Real_Tea_Lover@reddit
you expressed it very well
Ok_Act_5321@reddit

SpaceBug176@reddit
What the other guy said.
Mrman009@reddit
Do women not realize how expensive it is to drink myself into a stupor every night?
Ok_Act_5321@reddit
Women always come up with "I do this for myself" but you clearly don't because you won't be bitchin about it if you really liked it.
HelpMePlxoxo@reddit
Beauty is pain. Looking good = feeling good. The process however, is tedious, expensive and can be torturous at times. But damn is the pay off worth it to just genuinely feel like a million bucks.
It's like working out. You may complain that it hurts and that you're sore after, but the pay off is too worth it to stop. Though I'm not sure redditors or 4chinners will understand that concept.
Ok_Act_5321@reddit
Then they don't it for themselves, do they?
HelpMePlxoxo@reddit
Feeling good about yourself... Isn't doing it for yourself? You're not making much sense, bud.
Ig I was right that things like "working out" and "confidence" are enigmas to redditors 😭
Ok_Act_5321@reddit
She won't do it, if she was the only person in the world, so she doesn't do it for herself. Beauty standards are made up. Even if she dresses up for herself she looks at her and thinks how other people will admire her. Just like this lady admired her long neck and people thought it was beautiful.
HelpMePlxoxo@reddit
You do realize that women get done up all the time and never even go outside with it or post it, right? That's pretty much how the concept of "pre-shower makeup" started. You get all done up, look super cute, then immediately wash off all your hard work in the shower. Pretty much every woman and girl has done exactly that.
PanAthens@reddit
>me when I attempt to argue on behalf of women by *checks paper* asserting stereotypes and gender roles
>???
HelpMePlxoxo@reddit
Ah yes, THIS is the misogynistic take. Not the guy saying every woman who has ever worn makeup or heels has no original thought and only ever did it for mens attention (even if they're gay).
Ok_Act_5321@reddit
Again, she looks at herself how she is conditioned by other people and media to. The healthy thing is to see your face and see it as no big deal to care enough about.
HelpMePlxoxo@reddit
Ah I see. There's no winning. All women are a monolith incapable of original thought and only abide by your worldview. Sorry, I forgot, my silly little woman brain doesn't realize it's programmed according to your standards.
Ok_Act_5321@reddit
The women who are capable of original thought surely won't wear painful heels so their asses are out for men to see.
DankElderberries420@reddit
It's annoying af.
Also, I think this is where alot of the "gender pay gap" nonsense comes from. If you, from a young age, spent tons of money on goops and creams eventually it would become static/background noise. Then one day you find out that your male counterparts at work, who normally don't waste money on makeup, have 30% more money than you on average. Why go over expenses and budget when you can cry foul?
questioningmylife132@reddit
Ignoring the rest of what you said, that is simply not what the gender pay gap is. It isn’t about how much more money men have on average, it’s about how much more men are paid on average. Spending doesn’t directly impact that.
However I do acknowledge that spending money on makeup might impact other parts of women’s lives, which then impact their salary and thus cause the gender pay gap.

my god i've been saying this for ages
I'm happy to have a wife that doesn't gaf about any of this except a tiny bit of makeup once in a while that barely noticeable. She also colors her hair, because she wants to, not because she thinks anyone else gives a fuck.
An old ex would complain about wearing heels all day, and I said, then don't wear heels. Oh, I have to. You don't understand. Yeah, you're fuckin right I don't.
My wifes shoe collection is mostly Crocs. that's my girl.
Shit, I bought her a fancy necklace years back for xmas, she never wears it for fear of getting it damaged. I bought it because I felt she would appreciate it and don't even mind her keeping it safe.
She wears goofy earrings, too, rarely anything gemlike. She's weird, crazy, and cool.

the2xstandard@reddit
They complain about it, because that's what they do... but they don't do those things for men, they do it for themselves and as a weird status flex to other women. They just want you to listen, not solve their problems.

Magnus_Helgisson@reddit
If the women do it because they like it and want it for themselves, I don’t care, it’s their body. But I actually had a female friend some years ago that was constantly whining about how she can’t stand high heels because this and that, and when I say “constantly”, I mean so frequent it almost became her character distinctive feature. I once asked: “Why do you always wear them then? Why don’t you try wearing comfortable shoes and save the high heels for special occasions or something?” She didn’t talk to me for a month.
SpaceBug176@reddit
Did you wish she never talked to you ever again instead?

Women in America impose these rules on other women. I believe make-up, specifically, became a staple of the early feminist movement and is now just part of the American female hivemind.
I wish I knew at what point the wires got crossed and it became the bidding of the PATRIARCHY in their minds.

Women dress to impress other women.

I asked 4 woman in my life, why the heels, why the make up, and why the dress code. Ex-Wife, "it's just nice", Sister, "I wanna look nice" current wife "do you want me to look good or ragged", sister in law, "got to ate least dress up nice".
Then when I told them, niggas will fuck'em if they all looked like bums, they gave we the weirdest look.
My brother came over and said "How do you think these old cars get sold, that gotta dress'em up." 😅🤣😂🤣😂🤣😭😭😭😭 Needless to say, my brother and I can't comment anymore on any subject.
