Anon can't follow simple rules.
Or park on the outskirts and take the tube from there it seems.

Londoners don't want cars in their city.
Unlike the US the suburbs can't just say nuh-uh
Honest-University589@reddit
London isnt a planned city. Its organically growing since the Romans.
Most US cities were designed around the automobile. Planned in blocks such as New York to accomodate vehicle traffic rather than foot trwggic
NCD_Lardum_AS@reddit
Okay? Sub urbanites still shouldn't be able to block the people who actually live in cities from making the decisions they want, even if those decisions are anti car.
MrBingly@reddit
Suburbs are part of the city... It's their city too. Not to mention that the people who live in the city rely on people outside of the city to come into the city for their businesses to operate.
Honest-University589@reddit
It doesnt block people living in cities? The point is London didnt say it doesnt want vehicles anymore it encourages not having vehicles organically by having too much traffic, small roads, and one of the worlds best subway systems negating needs for vehicles.
On the other hand the US was built from towns around railways to towns and cities around vehicles.
Basically, England isnt telling people to ditch cars because they “dont want cars”. And the US isnt sitting in arrogance on the matter. Both cultures are built differently. Whats not to understand?
_TheBigF_@reddit
Then what the hell is the London Congestion Charge, if not exactly that?
All the other things you said are true. London does encurage other modes of transport "organically". However even that wasn't enough and active policies against cars (like the congestion charge) were needed to actually reduce the number of cars on the road.
Honest-University589@reddit
Congestion charge is mainly for the relief of congestion, not to outright put a stop to vehicles.
bigmatteo_91@reddit
It relieves congestion by stopping vehicles from entering the city.
Visual-Device-8741@reddit
Reddit hivemind downvoting for no apparent reason lmao.
I hate this app so much
ibench-1pounds@reddit
Don’t worry, you’ll find out that the rest of the world is like this. And their vote counts as much as your vote too. Scary isn’t it?
Honest-University589@reddit
Followed by the Americel.
Medical_Artichoke666@reddit
Lick that boot a lil harder. The city fucking sucks.
MyDogIsDaBest@reddit
Got a loicense for that fine?
RevalMaxwell@reddit
Who cooks have seen that coming
Corvid187@reddit
The places you can't stop are covered in bright yellow or red lines.
If OOP blind or regarded?
lmay0000@reddit
When you say stop, do you mean park
Scottish_Whiskey@reddit
It’s a bit of both depending on what kind of marking it is. Straight yellow lines on the sides of the roads are signs you’re not allowed to park there, but stopping for a bit is fine*.
Cross-hatch means you can’t stop anywhere in that area and must be kept clear. Usually for tram/train crossings, emergency service depots etc.
A zig-zag marking means no stopping (unless for pedestrians and traffic lights) or parking at ANY time

Anon visits the Mecca of CCTV
cyberstealth999@reddit
Also the Mecca in general

Mecca of CCTV when it comes to catching cars in the wrong place but that stabbing? Na mate we can't find him, London's a big place don't you know?
AlphaMassDeBeta@reddit (OP)
Anon visists the mecca.
Just the mecca.
angus22proe@reddit
Take the train
AlphaMassDeBeta@reddit (OP)
That'll be £270, cuck.
TuckingFypoz@reddit
Train prices in the UK piss me off so much. I used to commute to a town that was 30 minutes away and it was £12 return. May not seem much but 5x a week, with guaranteed delays and having to stand on the train, makes you think what are you really paying for?
On top of that, I asked for a wage increase to cover the costs and was laughed at..
AlphaMassDeBeta@reddit (OP)
Do you work for amazon?
Rhaeno@reddit
Those are some extremely british sounding places
AlphaMassDeBeta@reddit (OP)
10/10 observation.
teflon_soap@reddit
Gotta take the line from Cockswallow upon Whoremouth
TuckingFypoz@reddit
Going via Shitterton.
Hyperversum@reddit
Bloody fucking hell what did those trains have to cost so much lmao.
Even with high speed trains I don't spend over 50 Euros for a longer journey. This is a 2 trains journey, whatever. It's still a fraction of the cost for a 3 hours journey
angus22proe@reddit
Its so over for the uk
Corvid187@reddit
Well how else is one supposed to keep the yokles out? :)

To paraphrase Jeremy Clarkson, in London you can get stabbed and no cameras will pick it up, but you make a cheeky left turn and 100 cameras will nail you for it.

nobody drives in London, theres too much traffic
PlasonJates@reddit
I literally had fucking bailiffs show up last week demanding £500 to unclamp my car because I stopped in a yellow box 2 years ago but they kept sending the PCN to the wrong address.
Bailiff found me just fine though! Traffic enforcement is basically just the mafia with a badge.
ThatOneCloneTrooper@reddit
Before bailiffs only had access to your registered insurance address, so if people had old homes or relatives addresses (for cheaper insurance) it meant bailiffs were out of luck.
But recently, as regulations haven't kept up with how data is handled they have access to more private databases and so they're going through their back log of PCN's and trying new addresses and finding some people.
Happened to me, they chased a fine from like 6 years ago and now I have 2 clamps in the shed.
PlasonJates@reddit
Yeah it's happened a few times to me now, have had decent success in challenging them and getting the money back it's just a pain in the dick when it's their records that are wrong.
There's a local legend in my borough who basically takes on the council pro-bono to challenge PCNs just as a middle finger. He guided me through my first challenge and got me my money back, so he forever has my respect.
I hope to be like him in my old age - using my time to cause grief for councils and enforcement agents.
ThatOneCloneTrooper@reddit
Look up "Zoe Bread" on youtube / instagram if you can. She's single handedly brought 2 councils down to its knees with just some letters and parking data. To the point they have had internal meetings about her and refuse to take her calls anymore.
llamaz314@reddit
UK has a legal loophole where hiding your licence plate, if caught which is unlikely, is an £100 fine. So cheaper than the fine for stopping in the wrong place. For example every other motorbike I see has a plate that flips up to hide it.
FreeBonerJamz@reddit
Not a legal loophole, doing 2 illegal things at the same time is worse than doing 1. Traffic warden can still report you to police and if you have parked like a cock or you obstruct your numberplate then you car can be seized
bmcgowan89@reddit
I don't think anywhere with running water is the North Korea of anything 😂😂
teflon_soap@reddit
You’re getting down voted like it’s the North Korea of comments
