So I used to work in and around Mk for 35 years went today for the first time in quite a while all the free parking by the escape has gone and up by the point as well . But the thing that really surprised me on all the parking machines and signs nothing about how much it is to park this can’t be legal it say put in money then says no time until you put in enough £2.50 for one hour who runs this parking dick Turpin shan’t be coming back

If you are paying £2.50 a hour for parking in CMK. You're doing it wrong.
Incredibly hard post to read BTW. Good work.

Why you parking in the pernium zones? Find purple zones and pay £2 for about 2 hrs as opposed to the £4.50 you would have paid for the same amount of time where you were paying.

It would have told you as you were comming into an area in a COLOUR CODE diagram. Purple is our standard rate (which is now £2 for 2hrs and 50p thereafter) and red is our Prenium rate (£2.50 for one hour and £2 thereafter).
Here is the council detailing the most recent changes and a nice handy map for next time you come down here.

Milton Keynes Council under various guises has opted to completely trash the original vision for the city, resulting in their latest decision to scrap all the free parking: https://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/news/people/all-free-parking-to-be-scrapped-in-central-milton-keynes-under-new-council-proposal-5077300
Ive often joked that there's "no credit crunch in Milton Keynes" as regardless of the wider economy, all the shops and their parking are packed each weekend - the Council probably figure that they can therefore act with impunity and an extra few pounds to park won't stop 99% of people from carrying on.

I saw this article on the BBC a few days ago that says Milton Keynes Council made £10 million last year from on/off street parking.
