I haven’t been anywhere that, as a whole, hates Americans, that’s to say overtly hostile, or even mildly antagonistic (this of course does not include countries that are experiencing systemic issues as a direct result of American interference). The vast majority of people are more than capable of separating people from their governments and, in my experience, (as an American that travels six months out of any given year, and lives in Mexico when not traveling, and has done so for 13 years) Americans tend to be the worst offenders when it comes to conflating people with their government.

As far as your other question, finding a truly ethical, egalitarian government that merits your tax money…. That’s a tough one. The fact is nearly everyone has biases and prejudices, and I’d struggle to come up with a government that isn’t at least a bit corrupt. Bhutan maybe?

People are people pretty much everywhere you go, that’s the thing. It’s about finding a place where you can make a good life for yourself and do your best for those around you, hard to realistically expect more, honestly.
