Should I Upgrade My 3080 Ti After Moving to a 9800X3D?

Hi all,
I've been using Ryzen 7 5800X since 2021 and I recently got my hands on a 9800X3D. I play a variety of MMOs (WoW, GW2, BDO, D2...) and I feel like I could give my CPU a nice upgrade, so I went for the best one there is for gaming. To be honest, if I wasn't mainly an MMO gamer, I wouldn't do this CPU upgrade but the games I play are very demanding on CPU.
Now, I'm debating whether to upgrade my GPU from a 3080 Ti to a 5080. The 5090 is out of my budget, but I’m wondering if waiting for a potential 5070 Ti Super or 5080 Ti is a better move. I've read mixed opinions on upgrading from a 3080 Ti to a 5080, with some saying it's not worth it.
I'll stay on 1440p 165Hz gaming and do not have a plan to switch to 4k gaming anytime soon. These are the other improvements I'll do on my setup since I'm going from AM4 to AM5:
- Case: Lian Li - O11D EVO RGB Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case - Black
- Mobo: ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 AMD AM5 microATX Motherboard
- PSU: Corsair - RM1000x 1000 Watt Cybenetics Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply - ATX 3.1 Compatible
- Cooler: Noctua - NH-D15S Chromax Black CPU Cooler
Do you think sticking with the 3080 Ti for another year is a mistake now that I have a 9800X3D? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

3080 ti is still a very good card roughly in between the 4070 super and 4070 ti at 4k
It is still a pretty capable 4k card but u may need to use dlss or lower textures due to vram

Thank you for your comment!

It seems highly likely with 3gb vram chips in production that there will be a 24gb 5080

Its gonna be the same card but with 24gb vram

I'd say no. Your 3080 is going to blow any of those games out of the water anyways. I just don't see the need to upgrade.

Thank you. I wanted to upgrade my CPU only but some people said 9800X3D & 3080 Ti is not a good combo as GPU is on the lower end compared to the CPU.

I'm not well versed in that, but just on paper at 1440P, there's no bottleneck between those two. Unless you're chasing frames, it'll be just fine.

For the games you play, no. Are you not getting max framerates at 1440p with that setup?

No, and my temps are higher than I want them to be. I think I did a couple of mistakes with my case and cooling system because it was my first setup. I have more knowledge in building now.
