I remember thinking this thing was just so darn cool back then. Me & like a dozen other kids had them. They were terrible for cross winds 🤣🤦♂️
snow1868@reddit
I had this bike. Man, so many adventures had on that thing.
PrisonCity_Cowboy@reddit (OP)
Yup! We rode all day long back then!
heyknauw@reddit
Nope. Mongoose or Redline.
cirkis@reddit
I had that bike, from western auto I still remember picking it up
Dutch7422@reddit
I got mine from trend bike source in Austin Texas I believe wow can't believe I remember that at 50 years old 😂
warrior_poet95834@reddit
Man, those were the days when you could buy your bike at one of the auto parts stores. We didn’t have Western Auto where I lived, but there was something similar called Grand Auto.

Post this in the r/GenZ

OMG. I just went over there then filtered to see the top posts of all time. Wow. Just wow.
EveryUniversity8979@reddit
Mongoose Expert- my parents wouldn’t buy me the California model.
Dutch7422@reddit
I miss my Dyno Detour 😏
NorseGlas@reddit
I miss my powder blue 87’ skyway street styler with white mags and white tires.
Those old freestyle bikes are worth thousands now.
Dutch7422@reddit
This is it..
Dutch7422@reddit
Yeah that is something I bet yours was as good as mine. I had a 1987 also all the bells and whistles.. I was just talking about it. Mine was white I looked it up it's a rarity and it's worth about $1,500 now. Man I did so many paper routes to save up money for that $500 bike 😆
I-use-to-be-cool@reddit
I got the Schwinn Predator that came with the disc wheels. I took them off after seeing the spokes underneath were white and made the bike much better looking!!.
VinylHighway@reddit
Wow dual caliper breaks. Do any bikes have single caliper breaks?
notsaww@reddit
I had the Stu Thompson Huffy but it was a tank! I think I sold it for $50 to my neighbor then upgraded to a used Mongoose Expert for $75 from a kid 2 neighborhoods away. I think I cut lawns for 2 weeks to save up that money then I put Z Rims, donuts, snd bear claws on it
Fimbir@reddit
I added a double gooseneck like that on to my earlier Scrambler. All in all it was a pretty rugged bike.
Epilogueshift@reddit
Wow, I had one of those. I haven't thought about that bike in years.
WilliePullout@reddit
I for years could not remember the name of that bike. I had it and can confirm it was a real shitter. The wheel covers were toast very quick. I remember getting it for Christmas and that year it was warm enough I rode it with a t-shirt on. Maybe 87 but I’m guessing 89.
dohzehr@reddit
High tech. Wow. We were so easily entertained.
Otherwise_Ocelot_886@reddit
Sigma is dick cheese isn't it?
BigLoudWorld74@reddit
I remember wanting one of these so bad until I rode one. They weighed about as much as my mom's Datsun at the time.
Beaverhuntr@reddit
This is the " My dad didn't want to buy me a Haro or GT " bike
AllForTeags@reddit
I always wanted a bike with mag wheels and the handlebar setup that can spin 360. I am well in my 40s... One day it will be mine.
jzam469@reddit
I had a grey version and it was stolen.
sausagemahoney143@reddit
Me too!!! I loved it so much and locked up every night. then one morning it was gone.
NewMexicoJoe@reddit
Remember when high tech plastic wheels replaced spokes then disappeared as fast as parachute pants and Aqua Net when people realized their ride quality was terrible?
jjames34@reddit
My sister worked for the plastic company that made the wheel discs. I had unlimited supply of spare ones for my Sigma.
PrisonCity_Cowboy@reddit (OP)
Oh, wow! Thats pretty cool!
User-827@reddit
No baseball cards for those spokes!
Apprehensive-Cod95@reddit
My Redline and Dyno were better as thing was heavy af! It looked cool and I rode my friends time to time.
Weary-Appeal9645@reddit
Had this bike. Thought it was the coolest until I found Dyno GT which my parents wouldn’t get me
NorseGlas@reddit
I wouldn’t have been caught dead on a huffy.
Schwinn, mongoose supergoose, 87 skyway street styler, another mongoose bmx, and then on to a giant mountain bike after I started buying bikes with motors.
My friends would have never let me hear the end of it if I ever showed up on a huffy.
tarhawk71@reddit
We all started out on shit bikes like Huffys, Schwinns, Columbia etc until the good bikes came out like Hutch, GT, Redline etc.
Final_Pear7801@reddit
This bike was and will forever be the one I most lusted for and actually owned. I loved the sound the wheels would make as the air movement flew over them. I was so cool...felt like Rocky from Silverspoons with this!!!
allislost77@reddit
PK Ripper FTW
allislost77@reddit
Fuck. I’m old
MiamiOutlaw@reddit
I had aftermarket wheel discs on my bike. Pretty sure we got them at the Everything is a Dollar store in the mall. This was shortly after Rad! came out and BMX was popular. Always wanted a Mongoose or similar freestyle bike. Who else setup makeshift HellTracks when they were young?
vinmarvel@reddit
I had the huffy vortex. Thought I was cool with the wheel covers and that they made you faster.
nuttah27@reddit
My 1st bike was a Huffy Pro Thunder. I think memories can't be trusted anymore 🤣
nchemungguy@reddit
It was a great day when I got my Sigma. I thought it was the coolest bike there was. Well, the coolest bike I had any dreams of ever getting that is.
I just HAD to have the foot pegs in the back too. Not that I did much with them, but they were cool.
HolyFlapjackBatman@reddit
Did anyone else have foot pegs?
nchemungguy@reddit
Yep!
PrisonCity_Cowboy@reddit (OP)
👋 right here lol!
Empty_Eye_2471@reddit
Yeah... when the cool kids were tooling around on things like this, I was still riding on a 70's bike with a banana seat. "You want it, you buy it" was a commonly heard phrase from my childhood.
geek01824@reddit
I wanted one bad and ended up with a Huffy Stu Thomsen. Had it a week before it got stolen out of the garage. My dad had a bad habit of leaving the garage door open when he ran quick errands.
Alternative-Light514@reddit
The Hi-tech wheel disks make the bike so heavy, but those wheels were for stylin’
jonsca@reddit
Perfect for the Freestyle I never did and the half pipe I dreamed of building. In my childish naiveté, I figured the bike was designed to just do the tricks if you rode it fast enough up the curve.
PrisonCity_Cowboy@reddit (OP)
lol, same!! 🤣
