When they were putting the wind turbines up in the Laurel Highlands about 15 years ago, I remember seeing a truck have to serpentine up Cresson mountain because the engine wasn't strong enough to pull the truck up the hill in a straight line. That was pretty neat.
When I saw the title of this video, I knew it would be a wind turbine blade.

Driving through PA will have you on some bad roads

No getting around it with these. Have to get to site somehow.

"Alright! Cut the wheel! No, you gotta cut it! CUT IT!!!"

I've seen you wind blade haulers a few times, crazy long loads you have there.
For stuff like this, do they have setups where the trailer axles can be steerable?
Cool_Zs@reddit (OP)
We do. Usually steered by someone behind the load. Some also have a hydraulic auto steer that works off of the 5th wheel like this trailer has.

Gotcha, I figured you might but I always try to ask. Cool ass rig too. I'd like to get into specialty and heavy haul down the road, flatbed is just a bit too boring for me not going to lie.

If you check my profile I’ve got my own tiny forum that I’m trying to build up for people to help and post specifically about oversize. Best thing i can say about it is to just find a company that does it and give it a go. Cant learn if you don’t try.
Im-PhilMoreJenkins@reddit
Right, I'm stuck with western express until an accident falls off in 2026 but otherwise I'm looking at Montgomery Transport, Roane Transport, ATS, or Evergreen. They all do oversize in different flavors so I'm considering one of em and following them close.
I've hauled overlength and overwidth loads for Welfare, but that's it. 2 in total. Shame cause I enjoy the oversize stuff, have all the strobes and what not too.

There are companies out there that will hire with an accident on your record, i just would let them know first thing so you dont waste time digging in to a company who wont consider you. One accident hurts less than most drivers think.

Anyone else love seeing these type of loads being moved?
Nozerone@reddit
If this was close to the destination, and only road you could take to reach it then there is no avoiding it. If not, then wtf was the route planners thinking?
pianodude01@reddit
Super load routes are terrible.
Very rarely are you on actual interstates. Once your load gets over 15'6 it gets even worse
Cool_Zs@reddit (OP)
It was, wound up being i think about 6 miles from the sites. Couple pretty gnarly turns on it for this size but seemed close to the only way to get there.

Damn google maps will get you in some bad spots sometimes!!

Im just happy DOT wasn’t around.
