what episode would you chose and why? I want my bf to be into it so it'll be like the show is NEW AGAIN and I have someone to talk to about it hahaha.

Definitely A Day in A Life. Just showed my wife who never watched it. She loved it. So corny but in a good way. I also like A sickeness in hell or The Fates.

Oddly enough that was my FIRST episode I watched with my grandma when it aired because she kept laughing in her room lol and I was hooked since.

Your grandma sounds lovely and what a wonderful way to bond with each other 💜

Maybe if you're watching it, and they're around, they can just watch whatever episode you happen to be on.

It depends on their mood. My wife watched the Hercules episodes with me so that was how that went. She then went "Ohhhh wait I do know this! This has the hot Bruce Campbell thief right?"

hahahahha "the hot Bruce Campbell thief" I love that

Episode 1 because we’re watching it from the beginning whether he likes it or not😂😝

I'd keep it simple and go with the pilot.
When the show first aired I would tell all my friends how great it is and they would agree to give it a go.
Every single time they would tune in and it would be one of the fluff episodes. And they're come back disappointed and distrustful of my recommendation.
And I'd be frustrated knowing that last week's episode was amazing and if only they had seen that one.
Xena can be tricky to catch new viewers as the mood of the episodes can vary significantly giving a widely different opinion of the type of show it is if you happen to see say a comedy or silly episode as your first.
I mean can you imagine your first episode you watch being married with fish sticks?... Need I say more? Lol

Both are my fave series lol

I bought the DVD set last year and just started at the beginning. Didn't even take half an episode for my wife to be invested too. My wife has issues with violence in today's movies and series, and compared to that, Xena is very light, innocent material.

Wow, love that stance :)

Callisto for sure

My partner have an agreement.
They'll watch Xena: Warrior Princess with me, and I'll watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer with them. We watch one episode of each, usually back to back.
So far, they're loving Xena, and I'm loving Buffy.
Win win!

I agree with all the comments about SINS. It introduces so much of what various fans like, whether action, drama, adventure, comedy, fantasy creatures, campiness, eye-catching heroes/villains, the surprising friendship between a world-weary warrior with a dark past and an optimistic farm girl seeking to experience all the world has to offer. One of the most brilliant pilots I've ever seen and can pretty much stand on its own.
Thelookinyour3rdeye@reddit
Idk there are so many good ones. I’d start with the pilot, then one against an army, the furies, the ideas of march is they’re not hooked by then.
Necessary_Cow_1152@reddit
I'd say the pilot episode...it lays the groundwork for the show and is really magical.... Crossing an empty battlefield having flashbacks of her evil past, the look of self loathing on her face as she is burying her weapons, tired of her old life. ....her new sense of purpose as she defends the defenseless. Meeting Gabrielle! Lol
This is the one in my opinion. Showing too much too soon out of context may have an opposite effect on someone. Eg One against an army is a great episode but I think knowing some of the back story of how close Xena and Gabrielle is is what makes it more powerful than just the fight scenes alone. Fight scenes are cool those 90s punch and slap sound effects though subtract from the believability just a tad if you ask me 😆

Honestly I think starting with the pilot is good enough. By all accounts it tells you exactly what you're in for: ancient Greeks hitting each other with swords, which does include mythical monsters but doesn't put too much focus on them compared to the human element; and, you know, introduces Gabrielle's character whom you'll just about never not see.

I agree. I was 12 when the show premiered and was already hyped because I loved the Hercules movies they made.
Now I'm watching again for the first time in 10+ years and the Pilot episode was a fantastic introduction to the Xenaverse

Me too first saw all the Hercules movies first then he got his own series I was ecstatic and then they introduced Xena and was and still a major Hercules and Xena fan to this day

I would choose something that appeals to them - what do they like? Comedy, action, melodrama, horror, musicals, etc?
One positive and negative about Xena is that is encompasses wildly different genres and tones, so it should be relatively easy to find something that may appeal at a base level.
