Its still a revolver cartridge at the end of the day. I'm sure it hits like a truck, and I certainly wouldnt want to catch one even with a plate, but it doesn't have the velocity or construction to penetrate like a rifle cartridge.

I mean i was being a bit facetious. It was designed as a rifle cartridge, yes. And it can be loaded hot and have a lot of ME, no disagreement here. That being said, it's still a fat, round nosed bullet more akin to a pistol/revolver bullet than a modern rifle bullet. Velocity is what penetrates armor, and even loaded hot these are moving 1000+ fps slower than M193 out of a 20" barrel, and that's not even AP ammo. Like I said, hits like a truck, not designed for armor penetration.

It won’t defeat plates, not even close, but it’ll break many of the bones underneath the plates.

2,500 ft-lbs is going to hurt like hell if it goes through the plates or not. But if you’re already dealing with that much recoil you may as well just shoot a 30-06 instead and punch through the plates too using some black tip.
