Help me decide which Processor please!

I am currently between two processors and the price difference is about $270. I’m in between the R5 7600x Vs. R7 7800X3D CPUs. Going with a RX 7900GRE GPU to pair with them. The builds I have are exactly the same just with the CPUs being different and I’m not sure if the more expensive R7 is worth the extra money at this point in time. My goal is to achieve 1440p gaming at decent FPS(90-120) but I won’t have a 1440 monitor until early into 2025. I was trying to stay under $1300 as most of these are going to be gifts from family during Christmas and I feel guilty asking them to help me out with a $1500 pc, but if that’s the best option then it is what it is. If there’s anything else I should change please let me know!
CPU = R5 7600x / R7 7800X3D
GPU = PowerColor Fighter RX 7900GRE
MOBO = GigaByte B650 Eagle AX ATX
MEM = Corsair Vengeance 2x16 DDR5-6000
STOR = Samsung 980 Pro 1tb M.2-2280
PSU = Corsair RM750e 80+ gold
CASE = Corsair Carbide 600c (current pc case)

It's all about your budget. You have all the performance reviews available and you know what you pay for. Nobody can make this decision for you.

I’ll look at that mobo and SSD for sure! My main concern is having two M.2 slots because I have a 500g in my current build I plan to transfer over, and eventually replace.
Gouca@reddit
The cheapest multi M.2 B650 ATX-size is MSI Pro 650-S, which houses superior VRM compared to the Eagle AX anyway.
Although if you have a limited budget and you possess an NVMe you're transfering over, why even buy a new one? I would skim where ever possible if this was a gift you're stressing over. Unneeded storage is pure waste.
Regarding your build, have you accounted for a CPU cooler, especially for X3D? $50 Peerless Assassins are the bare minimum. If you had planned to reuse old cooler, do bear in mind that some older AM4s aren't directly compatible with AM5 given backplate interference.
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
It’s only 500g, so it’s barely enough to hold modern games on. Currently I have have to delete and download games as I want to play them, and that’s not something I want to have to do. As for cooler yes, I plan to go with the assassin I just didn’t realize I forgot to list it here.

Wait a week and see what happens with the 9800X3D.

Do you think the price on the 7800x3d will go down?
Ktrell2@reddit
Go for the 7700x. I was exactly in your position and I went with this one and a 7900XT and Im so glad I did. All my work related task are done crazy fast (editing, documents, spreadsheets, 20 tabs, etc.) and also I've been 2k gaming BO6, AC Odyssey and some CS2 at crazy good FPS on ultra settings. This is my build if you wanna check it out: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hWhVdH Right now it says is around $1673 but I got it on prime days for around $1450.

I’ve seen the GRE has been Performing better than the XT for the price points, unless I’m missing something. But the 7700x might be the middle ground I’m looking for at the moment!
Ktrell2@reddit
I think 7700x is the middle ground right now. Atleast it is for me. With 20GB The XT is around 15% better than the GRE. When I bought it the difference in price between the two was around $70, so I went for the XT.
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
I’ll have to do some digging but the XT looks to be $100+ more now
Ktrell2@reddit
Yes, it's exactly $100 right now. You can always wait for black days, pretty sure they are gonna lower the price to $610 \~ $620 again.
Comfortable-Mine3904@reddit
no
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
Then why would people be saying to wait and see what happens after the release?
dweller_12@reddit
7800X3D is super overpriced right now due to low supply. The 9800X3D is likely not going to cost much more.
nigerianprince199@reddit
Wasn’t it leaked that it’s gonna cost over 600 USD
dweller_12@reddit
No, same $450 MSRP as 7800X3D.
jhaluska@reddit
Well he might be wrong, but it might push the price of some other processors down.
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
$1500 is my max, because I will also need to purchase a 1440p monitor once it’s built. My current monitor is a 120hz 1080p.
Malphael@reddit
Because of the 7800x3d is $500 and the 9800x3D is $500 you might as well but the 9800x3D
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
This makes sense, thank you
jhaluska@reddit
I agree with everybody else saying to wait a week to find out about the 9800x3D. Personally I am leaning towards the 7600x. Plenty of gaming performance in most games, no guilt and you can always upgrade later.
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
That’s my main reason for considering the 7600x. I don’t mind saving to get the better CPU in a year if the the 7800x3d is overpriced at the moment and the 9800x3d will either be the same or a bit more.
jhaluska@reddit
The current price premium which makes it less attractive. By the time the 7600x starts struggling (4+ years), you can drop in another CPU for $200 that likely will be even faster than the 7800x3D.
I usually just ask for whatever is the best value, it helps with the guilt.
b-maacc@reddit
7600(X)
Artisan_HotDog@reddit (OP)
Is there a specific reason you recommend the 7600x? Or is it more price based
Ozi-reddit@reddit
wait see what happens prices after 9x3d debut
