i took the RAM out to check it, and put it back in, now it gives me 1-3-3-1 and no display, ive reseated the RAM, put it in the other slot aswell, i replaced the CMOS and now it turns on, turns off, turns on and gives me that beep code, and sits there.

Ram slots matter. How many slots and how many do you have filled? If there are 4 slots, its almost guaranteed that you need 2 modules for that vintage of system.

A quick search says that code points to the ram or system board.

thats from the ibm website isnt it? IBM doesnt make PCs anymore, those beep codes are different.

From the IBM Netvista quick reference, "reseat the DIMMs".

nope. the DIMMs is the RAM, right?? ive never worked on desktops, i just repair phones and laptops.. no idea for desktops

dual inline memory module, i.e. ram

it boots without a keyboard, from memory. i dont know if its not seated right or if the stick went bad by coincidence. ive reseated it and put it in different slots, still same thing. i put a new CMOS in, and now i get the beep code every time instead of just nothing at all

Are you saying that without the keyboard it starts, displays some text, and no beep error?
finleyw8888@reddit (OP)
no, it wont boot at all. just the beep code error

aight, ill try that. thank you.
