Living in car. Where to store gaming PC?

So I will be living out of my car for the next few winter months. winters get pretty cold here.
I have a nice gaming PC, but nowhere with climate control to put it. my options are:
- non-climate controlled storage unit 2.friends attic
- keep in car
out of these 3 not-so-great options, which will give my PC the best chance of survival? It has an AIO cooler if that matters.
Low_Yam_9157@reddit
Friends attic for sure if it gets below freezing where you're at. Least chance of condensation.
Regperin@reddit
What's the climate if you freeze the aio it will split. If you are breathing all night you'll get loads of condensation. I'd say not the car.
Siliconfrustration@reddit
Why can't your friend store it somewhere other than the attic? And yeah a radiator full of liquid does matter.
oldsnowcoyote@reddit
Moisture is going to be a problem in all of those locations. Your car will be the worst spot for it. Without inspecting the attic, I can't say if the locker might be the best option or not.
Eastern-Professor490@reddit
yeah temperatures are not the issue it's the moisture and breath contains a lot of it
Crimbustime@reddit
If you want it in the car I would say use one of those skip the dishes driver bags. They make you pay for them and a lot of guys quit or get kicked off the network so you can probably get one for super cheap. It should keep it at a somewhat stable temp.

I think your gaming PC should be the least of your concerns atm.
Sell it and get some housing man. Do anything you can to not be homeless as that can be a major slippery slope, as well as just fing dangerous.
Best to you man.

I mean, it's homeless-lite.
It's basically camping but in a car instead of a tent.
The concern is appreciated, but I do have savings. Luckily I live in a pretty nice suburb, and if anything DOES go wrong, I do have the blicky. Parking lots have been very chill so far.
But yeah fosho. I'm spamming job applications as we speak and as soon as I have a job, I have someone that is willing to cosign a lease for an apartment. I have a clear way out/path forward and am very fortunate for that
A lot of people aren't so lucky.

To be fair, you could run it in the car as a source of heat lols
etfvidal@reddit
Sounds like you have bigger things to worry about that storing your pc? Why not just sell it and build another one down the line?
t0eCaster@reddit (OP)
because this is a temporary situation that will be resolved as soon as I'm working (I'm spamming applications currently)
I have savings. I'm not dead in the water or anything

PCs love cold temperatures so it’ll be fine, just don’t let it get shifted around much in the car. High temps aren’t an issue within reason since components regularly hit 80+ C (180 F).
ixoniq@reddit
Worst part is, when you heat the car up, let it cool down quickly, or step in the car while being a bit wet, there will be oxidation in the car. Same when the windshield will fog up when you step in the car with a wet jacket.
NotTechBro@reddit
Ah yeah, that’s a good catch. Dehumidifier for the car? Attic is probably the better choice.
ixoniq@reddit
Attic is better with warm air rising, being less humid when properly isolated. If the attic is poorly isolated with change of molding and stuff, it’s choosing between two evils.
Both are not where I want my expensive machine to stay, but with no other choice, it take the attic.
With the PC in the car you also need to drive carefully at all times, which can be annoying when you don’t thing about it for a moment and hear the PC tipping over or such.

Moisture is another thing.
sacdecorsair@reddit
Exactly. Kept a PC once in very cold car and due to weather shifting interior got soaked.
Nitrozzy7@reddit
Sell it and get a good laptop. You'll be able to power it out of the lighter socket with an adapter, as well as pairing it with your phone for internet. Build a new one when the situation becomes less temporary.
likkachi@reddit
i would store it in the attic. package it into an appropriately sized box with padding inside and out to prevent movement and put the box in either a sealed rubbermaid style tote (if it fits) or a plastic bag. make sure you adequately mark it so the people kind enough to store it for you don’t accidentally throw it away or donate
