I watched Xena with my grandmother when I was younger, and I loved the show so much. I decided to start binge watching it and I just realized you don’t see Hercules till five in the show. I always thought that he was in it more often for some reason. I also thought Aries was in it a lot more than he has been. It’s crazy what time does to your memories!

I watched originally as well. I remembered Joxer, ‘Dite, and Ares, being in nearly every episode. Turns out, they weren’t, they were just the sillier and extremely memorable scenes for me.

Also, Herc was in season one, if I recall (too lazy to search it). I think it was Xena because I remember Gabrielle in blue looking like she was 12, and I don’t actually remember her going over to Herc. It was the one iolus was injured and dying because humans couldn’t heal themselves. Xena and Herc had to free a titan. Man, binge watching does the same thing as the years — it all bleeds together, but only after a few months!

Yes they did, at least generally. Herc was first by a year or two, Xena followed by a year or two. Otherwise, confused as to why that’s relevant to the episode with the titan? Unless I’m confused (happens. On day four of no sleep so I’m sorry).

I'm currently watching the whole series again for the first time in like 15 years. I'm paying more attention to the Xena Gabrielle subtext this time, and damn, they were laying it on thick lol

Same here. I'm rewatching for the first time in 20 years. Even though it has always been my favourite. Maybe I thought it wasn't going to be as good today as I remembered when I was a teenager. But for the love of god's I was so wrong 😅. I'm loving it. I can also see a lot more subtext now!

I was 13 when it came out (but not me lol) and MAN that subtext was hitting HARD for me back then. I’d be so heartbroken and angry and confused on the boyfriend of the week episodes. That love story for me was amazing I finally got to relate to something! My friends would swoon over this or that relationship in other shows and I was wholly uninterested - but I lived and died by Xena and Gabrielle! Religious conditioning had me in denial until I was years older but I should’ve known then. I mean deep down I did but I thought it was just my ‘sinful nature’. I was fully 17 before I just gave in to who I was. Still wasn’t open about it until my early 20s when I met my Gabrielle and didn’t gaf anymore. Unfortunately she left with a male guest star after a couple years 😂

I also hated the boyfriends of the week. It was very disappointing and I choose to ignore some of those episodes now. I wish they could have ended the show with their relationship a bit more explicit. I hate the way they ended it and I am re-ordering the final episodes on my re-watch. I never knew much about my own emotions, I was 20 when I finally kissed a girl. Some time after that I met my wife. It has been 19 years together. I've found my Gabrielle!
