Get out of that truck, get some fresh air in, and maybe go to the local gym if there is one nearby. Make this day awesome!

How long is the layover?
jstank2@reddit (OP)
Just 1 day
Mechanic_Dad-23@reddit
Message sent at 0826, customer can't receive until 0700 the following day. 25:26 total layover.
halfcow@reddit
Somehow, I still bet the dispatcher is to blame. Take the money, but the dispatcher is not innocent.
jstank2@reddit (OP)
It was due 9 hours before I picked it up according to the receiver.
Plantherblorg@reddit
Jesus dude why are you so slow at delivering this trailer?
jstank2@reddit (OP)
I haven't invented teleportation Barry! Goddamnit! Who do I look like Albert Einstein!
BowsetteGoneBananas@reddit
Driver turned dispatcher here. Let me offer a very loose defense.
Some customers just suck. The one I work with is an absolute nightmare for the night dispatch people and will just actively ignore calls and emails until around 0700 in the morning. There is a very real chance that a garbage consignee made a change to the to the load that wasn't communicated to dispatch and thus was not communicated to OP.
K1d-ego@reddit
I fully agree about dropping customers. The only way they will ever improve their processes is when carriers refuse to do business with them. It won’t be until their products are piled so high in their warehouses with no one to move them that will ever learn the lesson.
jadedshibby@reddit
If they were actual humans I would agree, but these places have a corporate hive-mind of 30 middle management hacks controlling them. These guys could literally get crushed by a 30 story high stack of pallets that have been there for a year waiting to be picked up, and they would simply fire the warehouse guy that put the top one on.
Nothing changes at those places until they go out of business, and then management will get severance pay while everyone else gets fucked.
God bless America 🇺🇸

Preach brother
supermarble94@reddit
My issue isn't with the customer being an asshole. My issue is with dispatch not answering the phone or being completely opaque. I need transparency. I need communication, even if that communication isn't what I want to hear. I need to know that I'm absolutely fucked where I'm at and there's nothing I can do to get moving until later so I can mentally check out and go play video games.
Mystery_Per@reddit
Hold up. “Communication to the driver” Literally every trucking company: COMMUNICATION
Realistic-Brush5734@reddit
As a dispatcher, I second this. 3rd party companies are the worst.

HappilyInsignificant@reddit
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I actually just checked my paycheck because they had me sitting on Labor Day. I got a whopping $75.
Definitely another thing to remember when my year is up and I start looking at other companies.
Mechanic_Dad-23@reddit
Fair enough dude, fair enough. Best of luck with the job hunt!
stormofthedragon@reddit

unftp-0@reddit
$0.62cpm though im in a dedicated account and its $1200 MINIMUM guaranteed as long as you do stuff right. I think the regional and OTR guys get $1400 minimum not sure. (TX)
Nakotadinzeo@reddit
🚩🚩🚩
So, if they fuck up, and you're laid over for a three-day weekend, You'll max out at $96?
Are you only worth $96?
Next time you're at the Loves, look at the walls as you're leaving the bathrooms. Aside from an insurance ad for OOs, there are several posters for companies that will do you better than that (Although, Hobby Lobby is probably going to get the pharaoh's curse if they keep stealing artifacts...) Hell, Love's itself has a bunch of trucking positions for fuel and dry van. You can do a lot better than some place that thinks you're only worth $96.
This is why we need damn unions.
Chillimaniac@reddit
Are loves fuel job actually pretty good?
95blackz26@reddit

Theoneandonlymxcn@reddit
That’s nice layover pay
SeaRow556@reddit
Some good companies will spot you the cost of a preplanned load.. though i do agree. Especially if this driver is with a mega.
jstank2@reddit (OP)
The whole load pays me 900 dollars so yeah it is.
